Event-based data exchange has improved integrations but analytics and support remain weak
SAP Cloud Platform is a strong part of their offering. They are very poor in the analytics area. You do not have much available. If you want to have analytics, you have to do everything yourself. Everything is very expensive, so it is not helping with the infrastructure costs. There is a lot of latency and glitches. The support is very difficult and not really helpful. The fact is you are completely losing control of the infrastructure. If something bad happens, there is nothing you can really do. You have to ask the support and the support will answer when they want or when they can.

A scalable and stable solution that has good scalability and is easy to setup
It is a scalable solution. I have yet to have a scenario regarding automatic scale and if there's an increase in resource requirement or need. We have yet to have that scenario. We have yet to test that. The scalability was more than manually adjusting and increasing whatever I had to do. I rate it eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of this product is the scalability inherent in it because it resides on the cloud."
"It’s great that we have the entire suite of SAP at our fingertips."
"The mobile access capability is very beneficial."
"The solution can scale."
"Great Integration Suite, with CPI being its stable component."
"The most valuable feature is the data synchronization, or the push and pull of the data."
"Scalability is one of the benefits that we have in using the product."
"The features I found most valuable are the integration options."
"The dynamic vertical scaling is a unique feature."
"As a strategic solution, it's really good because it will avoid a lot of cost if you are building your data center, for example, or from scratch."
"We almost don't have to maintain our servers."
"The advanced level of production-ready Docker hosting, one-click application deployment, and the truly flexible pricing."
"Jelastic is exactly what we expect from a PaaS vendor: easy-to-start, easy-to-manage, container based technology, support for vertical and horizontal auto-scaling, and all this without vendor lock-in."
"Technical support from Jelastic is very good."
"The solution is scalable, and that is what we are looking at. There is no learning curve as we have not done much research."
"If you are looking for a great PaaS product, don't hesitate to check Jelastic!"

Cons

"The current pricing model is credit-based. We would like to have more information about the usage of the existing applications."
"The main problem is that there aren't any easy migrations from SAP PO to SAP CPI, so from process orchestration to cloud platform integration."
"Everything is very expensive, so it is not helping with the infrastructure costs."
"I can’t speak to features that may be missing."
"The product needs improvement for serverless native integrations. They should opt for serverless features as all the customers worldwide choose cloud-based products."
"Shows errors without providing any analysis."
"They are still developing this product. It does not really have 100% of the necessary features available to properly service business clients."
"Regarding improvements, I think the user experience, specifically the developer experience during design time, could be better. Platforms like MuleSoft and Flowgear have much better design times."
"An S3 like storage system, if they have a s3 API compatible system I can move my files from AWS."
"The backup functionality needs to be improved."
"For now, some customers are requesting support of Docker containers for Windows."
"The security layers also need to be improved because there is no clear layer or tier of security in the solution."
"The backup features need improvement, or rather it should be added, as I could not find it."
"I would like to see better integration into enterprise storage products."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"SAP's pricing is usually high compared to the competition. But this is also justified because they hold their products and services to quite high standards."
"SAP Cloud Platform costs $2 to $5 per hour, while I found other platforms way more affordable. You have to pay per use, though that's fine because that means the cost is flexible."
"SAP provides good discounts."
"SAP offers yearly, subscription-based, and pay-as-you-use licensing."
"SAP Cloud Platform is expensive. It can be quite costly."
"Licensing costs for this solution are based on the number of users and the bandwidth."
"SAP Cloud Platform is generally more expensive than the other options."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a nine out of ten."
"Pricing for providers is revenue-shared based. Providers should invest in hardware to set up the Jelastic cluster."
"I would rate the cost 3 out of 5. There are additional costs other than licensing fees."
