API discovery, bot defense, and DDoS capability optimize application security and development
I see areas in Radware Cloud WAF Service for improvement, specifically in its initial tuning period, because the machine learning model takes two to three weeks for baseline behavior establishment. Closely monitoring alerts during this period is essential to avoid false positives. There's an alert noise issue; during the early stages, we received a high volume of alerts for minor issues, requiring collaboration with the SOC team to fine-tune thresholds and concentrate on genuine threats. The documentation is not up to par, as while the platform's system is robust, the documentation, particularly for API integration, could be more developer-friendly with real-world use cases.

A CDN solution to enhance loading times and streamline navigation
When one of the primary nodes spanning from North to South America, from the northern US to the southern US, became operational, it had a big impact. It can be challenging to explain its advantages to clients. The technical nature of the marketing material is too technical for stakeholders. Integrating the solution was straightforward, requiring no extra effort. Edgio Global CDN operates, resembling familiar cloud services but offering elevated functionality. Unlike platforms such as Google Cloud Platform or RIN geared towards development teams, Edgio emphasizes client-facing services that are integral to our operations. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Geo-blocking is one of the most valuable features we use the most; most of our users are in North, Central, and South America, so we use geo-blocking to block access from other countries."
"It has significantly reduced attacks on our applications."
"I particularly appreciate the low administrative burden of this solution, as well as the excellent monitoring tools."
"The features I find most valuable about Radware Cloud WAF Service are primarily rate-limiting, geo-blocking, web DDoS protection, and some other basic features."
"Cloud WAF's interface is easy to use and protects us from OWASP Top Ten threats. Our dev team do QA checks on applications before they go live, but Cloud WAF creates an additional security layer on our website."
"With the current visibility dashboard, we can now obtain insight into the nature of attacks, identify attackers, and detect top IP or threat regions."
"It provides the first level of defense against external threats trying to come into the environment, but it's one of the many toolkits we use."
"Radware Cloud WAF Service is user-friendly and easy to deploy."
"The Rules Engine V4 is the most valuable feature."
"The customer support and service responsiveness were excellent."
"The tool's most valuable feature is the Uplynk platform for streaming purposes."
"It's super easy to use and integrate with."
"The product is easy to use and easy to implement."

Cons

"Radware needs to improve the certificate renewal process for customers who want to be secured with HTTPS."
"The implementation was hit or miss for the first few months. They did some tweaking and, since then, there have been no problems."
"The primary area for improvement is in issue detection and understanding whether a log is a false positive. It can sometimes be a challenge to take the data of a given security event and determine if it's a genuine threat using a Wiki etc."
"Cloud WAF's management portal lacks many indicators, and the interface could be more user-friendly. It should provide more detailed information on events, possible solutions, and what each event means. While it does give you the event and block part, it doesn't give you a solution. Let's say, for example, someone wants to go into an SQL injection and find a possible solution other than the blocking part, there are no details. It would be good to have possible solutions or the ability to create an automated report to send to the developers in the portal."
"We've had some issues with putting certificates in."
"The connection between the front and back ends could be improved."
"Radware does not have much online training available to help customers get the most out of this solution."
"It would be ideal if Radware could offer a bundled package that includes Cloud WAF, web DDoS protection, bot manager, and Alteon for a more comprehensive security solution."
"The tool needs to resolve its lack of innovation."
"The web interface of the Verizon Edgecast portal is very old. It's not user-friendly, slow, and it is missing some valuable features like the ability to make bulk changes."
"We could not create more than 15 custom rules."
"In the next release, I would like to see more global endpoints for their CDN and a lower price."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We evaluated other options and, if I remember correctly, one of them was Fortinet, but they didn't seem as effective as Radware. But the price was the biggest difference. Radware had the best price for our type of network and level of scaling."
"We are based in El Salvador and don't have a direct license with Radware; we purchase the license through resellers. The pricing is reasonable, as I managed an Akamai product in a previous position, and Cloud WAF is competitively priced."
"The pricing is fair. We compared Radware to others using industry reviews and Radware is at the top right now."
"The pricing is fair; it's neither particularly cheap nor expensive."
"I believe the prices are fair."
"I am not directly involved in pricing and setup cost discussions, but it seems that Radware offers a more cost-effective solution compared to F5. It is considered a good value for our budget."
"We are paying $20,000 annually for six licenses that provide basic WAF functionality."
"The price is a bulk average."
"When I modeled it out, we are spending somewhere between $600 to $800 a month with Verizon EdgeCast."
"Be careful about the options because to have all the features can be very expensive."
"The product is cheaper compared to other solutions."
