Useful project management capabilities, beneficial dashboards, but project planning could improve
The areas that should be improved in Planview Daptiv are a subject that can be viewed differently depending on who you ask. I feel they should focus on excelling in one specific area rather than providing average capabilities in many areas. For example, their project planning software is satisfactory but not as advanced as Microsoft Projects. The same goes for the capacity planning tool and reporting capabilities, which can be improved upon by using custom Excel spreadsheets or by hiring a business analyst for additional support. In short, the biggest weakness of Daptiv is that it does not excel in any one area and only provides average performance. In a future release, it would be beneficial to have a undo button.

Workflow automation has streamlined request tracking and approval processes for my teams
ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management could be made better by reducing the prices. They should also provide more features with a better price compared to other tools in the market. Power Apps and Power Automate are much cheaper now compared to ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management. They should provide the approval license at no cost for ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management; otherwise, it would be difficult to continue with ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management. They must add integrations with other tools, and also a plug and play integration. The auto-closing of incidents with AI should be implemented; for example, if a user is facing an issue with a computer or some application, that incident needs to be taken care of by AI itself instead of a human.

Pros

"The most valuable features are resource allocation and capacity planning."
"The timekeeping features are great and very helpful."
"Daptiv templates give you a world of possibilities, no matter the PMI maturity level the company has."
"Changepoint allowed us to model resource request/assignment workflow in our large PS organization."
"The powerful collaboration is definitely the most valuable and the fact that you can adjust flexibility to almost any methodology, and the easy creation of complete new functionalities without programming code."
"I implemented for a large client of mine and saw them quickly get up and running and leverage Daptiv to help them manage their IT demand from their internal customers."
"The experience with Changepoint has been great considering that most organizations won't use 90% of the application's features."
"Reporting of IT capacity available for first time, time sheets available for first time."
"The Flow Designer is particularly fascinating, because anyone who is not experienced in coding could start creating automated workflows within ServiceNow."
"The integration of ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management with other ServiceNow modules improves workflow efficiency by calculating overall project costs associated with vendor management."
"The ease of use is the most valuable feature. It's very intuitive to set up."
"It's a very complete solution."
"It helps us in utilizing the resources to the perfect level to generate more revenue at the same cost."
"The stability is excellent, and ServiceNow is one of the leading platforms when it comes to stability."
"The interface is user-friendly. It's one of the most user-friendly on the market, and the most complete."
"The best feature is the effective reporting system for project portfolio and program management."

Cons

"Accessing some functions is a bit obscure and requires some knowledge of how the product works, but the upgrade from v2012 to 2014 improved that situation and I expect the upcoming upgrade to 2017 to further streamline operations."
"The areas that should be improved in Planview Daptiv are a subject that can be viewed differently depending on who you ask. I feel they should focus on excelling in one specific area rather than providing average capabilities in many areas. For example, their project planning software is satisfactory but not as advanced as Microsoft Projects. In short, the biggest weakness of Daptiv is that it does not excel in any one area and only provides average performance."
"I find the solution has an excessive amount of features. Many aren't even kept current."
"Limited unless you purchase additional support hours."
"I find the solution has an excessive amount of features. Many aren't even kept current. Some aren't useful at all. There's an overall lack of coherence within the solution. It can make the execution difficult. Many features can easily be eliminated and it would help streamline the solution. They should get rid of 80% of the features and then really focus on the leftover 20% to make it a really great product."
"The user interface is quirky and does not always conform to the expected Microsoft UI standards."
"I would say there is too much work that has to go into the configuration up front and for the first 6 months to 1 year after, which costs time, money, and resources, and it is not a very advanced tool and seems interface-wise to be behind the times."
"It would also be nice to see some improvements on the IBM Cognos Analytics. There's still work to be done on the analytics side of things, like your condition formality."
"The price is too high."
"ServiceNow needs to invest more in integration."
"The solution is very expensive and best for larger organizations, mostly due to the fact that it would be too costly to use for medium-sized companies."
"The program isn't very user-friendly, as it is rather difficult to use."
"When we import a really big project with a lot of tasks on it, we face some issues with dependencies. The links between tasks are not working very well. There is definitely room for improvement there. Microsoft Project, in my opinion, is the best option for such a use case."
"The initial setup is complex and should be simplified."
"The dashboard interface is limited functionally and is not very user friendly or particularly intuitive so that, for example, if you want to combine or correlate incidents with relevant changes for a report, it's not easily done and makes reporting difficult."
"The adoption of the Common Service Data Model in an organization to leverage best practices is where the challenge lies. It's not that the product lacks features, but rather organizations often adopt it at a maturity level beyond their capacity."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing is pretty complex. Each kind of user is a different price. It's approximately $300 per year. They charge additional fees for technical support and other additional services."
"It's a yearly license, but it's not an open license. It's based on users and their roles. So your administrator is priced differently from your timesheet user."
"The cost of the solution should not be more than $50,000 annually."
"I would rate the cost as five out of ten."
"They sell some things in bundles, and it could be handier that some of those things could be sold in another way, like purity models and other packages. Another thing that I'm struggling with is the pricing of ServiceNow's FYE experience, which includes the tools that are positioned for supporting HR."
"The tool is expensive."
"The solution could improve by being less expensive and the pricing model is confusing. Many people are getting charged different amounts. There are additional fees that they are adding on."
"We have a team of about 6,500 employees across the globe. So, the amount of money I'm going to save by putting the money on the table for the implementation and licenses is very high."
"The licensing is based on metrics and is tailored to customer's needs."
"The solution is expensive."
