Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

A cost-effective security solution for endpoint protection
The initial setup is complex. It is rare to see an effective endpoint protection system that does not require some effort. It is neither on the cloud nor on-premises. You deploy it on every endpoint or server, irrespective of perimeter. You must use a deployment tool unless you prefer to do it manually on every endpoint or server. We used an automation tool to deploy it. Since we had MSI with us. We had to verify that everything worked, but it didn't take more than two weeks for 1000 endpoints.

Endpoint protection has strengthened malware defense and simplifies web and peripheral control
I would give Sophos Endpoint a rating of nine out of ten because it is working very well. I have cut one point because it has no solution for on-premises. Additionally, it has no solution for any Linux-based system endpoints. I have to install the server protection on Linux machines, which is why I am cutting one point for Sophos Endpoint. Sophos Endpoint should include the Linux endpoint agent and should provide a solution for Linux endpoints as well, because the server license is costly and nobody wants to use the server license on an endpoint machine. Sophos Endpoint should have a Linux endpoint independent agent as well.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"If the user leaves our premises or network, Palo Alto Traps will still be on that endpoint and will still apply our policies."
"The dashboard is customizable."
"The interface is easy to use and it is more up to date than our previous solution."
"On a scale from one to ten, I would rate Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks a nine."
"We have found in our test Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks to be a very good tool."
"The tool's use cases are relevant to security."
"What I like about Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is that it is a comprehensive solution that contains everything the organization may need when using endpoints."
"The tool is designed to scale for large enterprises and handle large volumes of data."
"First of all, it does the job. It prevents harm to the operating system. Also, the visibility it gives to the user and to the administrator is very good."
"Nyotron protects your users and does not acquire any threat intelligence."
"This product really is the best solution for this security issue."
"Provides good control and can implement policies and on-the-web control."
"This is where Sophos outclasses every other vendor."
"It's easy to deploy."
"The Sophos people here in South Africa are very helpful."
"Intercept X is the most valuable feature in the solution. It's more or less pretty standard. The endpoint feature allows you to basically see what is happening, and stop a wide range of threats. It's been the most unique identifier for Sophos."
"The central management console is valuable, as it consolidates everything into one place, allowing users to access logs and events without visiting multiple websites or consoles."
"The solution's setup is straightforward and doesn't take much time to complete."
"This product is quite stable and there are no problems with it."

Cons

"It is not a suitable solution if you are looking for a single product with multiple features such as DLP, encryption, rollback, etc."
"In general, the price could be more competitive."
"The product's pricing could be better."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks could improve its user interface, which is more complicated compared to competitors such as SentinelOne."
"They are charging for Network Traffic Analyzer (NTA) services, so if the per GB data could be provided at a certain level free of cost or at the same cost which the customer is taking for the entire bundle, that would be better."
"There is also no recovery feature; if some endpoint is under attack there must be the possibility of recovering it or restoring it to a normal state."
"In reporting they should have a customizable dashboard due to the fact that C-level people don't like reporting to the IT department. They prefer to have a real-time dashboard. That kind of dashboard needs to have various customizations."
"They have the worst support, as a company, that I have ever worked with, as they are difficult to get a hold of and keep on the phone. They don't know what they are talking about when you get them on the phone. They don't like to respond to messages when you send them to them. They like to "research problems" for weeks on end, then pass you off to somebody else."
"The solution should be available on Linux and other platforms, including mobile platforms such as Android and iOS."
"The main feature that is missing is to have the same solution on servers. Currently it's only protecting the client side, not the server. If they would add the server in the same solution, that would be great."
"The product is not secured and doesn't offer a fast connection."
"The solution could improve on the resource management, it is a bit heavy on the resources."
"The resource usage of the agent should be less intensive on the CPU and RAM."
"There could be more integration included in Sophos EPP Suite."
"We use cloud services quite a bit. Therefore, I would like to see integration with other security tools besides endpoint so that I'm not managing different tools separately. I would prefer to have a single security solution for my laptop and for managing other security things like passwords."
"The product's filtering and stability can be better."
"Deployment and central management need to be improved."
"With Sophos you can wait on the phone for two to three hours before you get anybody from the technical support team."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is quite an expensive solution."
"The pricing seems fair, and I do like the licensing model. You use wherever they are, and it is elastic."
"Traps pays for itself within the first 16 months of a three-year subscription. This is attributed to OPEX savings, as security teams spent less time trying to identify and isolate malware for analysis as a result of a reduction in malware incidents, false positives, and breach avoidance."
"Cortex XDR's pricing is ok."
"The pricing is a little high. It is per user per year."
"It is present, but when compared to other competitive products, I would say it is not less expensive; however, when all of the other added values are considered, the price is reasonable."
"This is an expensive solution."
"The return on investment is from the user side because we have seen the performance of it increase the delivery time of the product if we are using too many web-based and on-premise applications. In indirect ways, we saw the return of investment in terms of performance and user satisfaction increase."
Information not available
"We are on an annual license to use the solution."
"The price of Sophos EPP Suite is reasonable."
"It may be possible to negotiate licensing cost based on volume."
"There is an annual license to use the solution."
"The tool’s price is the same as its competitors."
"Sophos EPP Suite is cost-effective. We bought it because it costs less than other solutions we like—for example, Trend Micro and Panda Antivirus."
"Pricing could always be lower. It costs around $120 per seat per year."
"The product is inexpensive, and we receive good discount offers from our product partners."
