Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Fortinet is very user-friendly for customers.""The most valuable feature is the analysis, because of the beta structure.""The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.""Ability to get forensics details and also memory exfiltration.""The console is easy to read. I also like the scanning part and the ability to move assets from one to the other.""Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.""Forensics is a valuable feature of Fortinet FortiEDR.""NGAV and EDR features are outstanding."

"It's a scalable solution. We have around five to eight customers using RSA NetWitness Endpoint, and we hope to increase the number of users.""The log correlation is good.""They have recently updated the features and the most valuable ones are the instant threat response, ease of use, web interface, integration, and easy access. RSA NetWitness Endpoint is very compatible with other solutions and technologies. However, they do not rely on third-party solutions and have most features built-in.""Ability to isolate the machine when there are malicious files.""We've contacted technical support several times. They've been very good. They have been able to help us resolve our issues.""NetWitness Endpoint's most valuable features are its interoperability across many different operating systems and the ease of pivoting from network to endpoint via a single console.""The stability of the RSA NetWitness Endpoint is very good.""RSA NetWitness does market analysis in a more granular form. It gives you full visibility."

"It has low overhead as far as machine resources are concerned. Everything runs faster with VIPRE installed versus some of the competitors. It has also been pretty easy to use. It just runs and gives us reports. It also sends us alerts when there is something that we need to look at. It does its job, and you just look at the reports. In other ways, you just forget that it is there.""In general, it was pretty easy to manage."

Cons
"The solution is not stable.""Once, we had an event that was locked and blocked, but information about it came to us two or three days later.""To improve Fortinet, we need to see more features and technology areas at the endpoint level introduced.""The SIEM could be improved.""ZTNA can improve latency.""The EDR console should have more extensive reporting. You shouldn't need to purchase FortiAnalyzer. It should be included in the EDR part. The security adviser cloud platform could be improved with more options for exclusive or intensive rules for devices.""Integration with Azure and SaaS provisioning tools could improve Fortinet FortiEDR.""Cannot be used on mobile devices with a secure connection."

"Its price could be improved. It is an expensive product. Its training is also too expensive. It would be great if they can have a better pricing scheme for the training.""The contamination feature could be improved.""The integration of the solution needs to be improved. The dashboard needs lots of updates as well. In the next release, we would like to see advanced fraud detection features.""When analyzing something, you have to click several times. It requires a lot of effort to find something.""The deployment process is complex. I don't know why, but this solution will suddenly stop working. Logs stop coming. Often, one thing or another stops working. Most of the time, one of my team members is working with troubleshooting and working with technical support. Log passing is also one of the biggest challenge.""This solution needs an upgrade in reporting. I have heard from RSA that they are working on this, but as of yet it is not available.""The solution is modular, for example you can buy the RSA ePack, which you buy as a module is not part of the conduit solution. They could include it and have it as an all-in-one solution.""We would like to see the hunting and investigation features of this solution improved, in order to provide better visibility of issues."

More NetWitness XDR Cons →

"Their management interface is a little buggy. It requires a few system resources on the management interface. Its reporting can also be better. Overall, the reports are pretty good. They patch some third-party software, but if they can expand what they do for reporting and patch enterprise software, it would be handy.""We would get a lot of false positives and instead of them fixing the false positive, they would just want us to put in an exception, which I didn't care for."

  • "With RSA, there is flexibility in choosing the service, products, and the range that meets your requirement, as well as they are flexible in terms of pricing."
  • "They can easily adjust if you have the requirements which are required. If you have a budget cut or a budget constraint, they can bend."

  • "I do not have any opinion on the pricing or licensing of the product."
  • "The cost depends on the number of endpoints that you want to monitor, but it is not expensive."
  • "It is an expensive product."
  • "The price of the solution depends on the environment. If the environment is large then it will cost more. However, the larger the environment with more endpoints, you will receive an increased discount. If the environment is very small, then you might think it is expensive. It is always better to buy in bulk to receive a discount. The minimum number of assets is usually 500, with discounts on 1000 and 2000."
  • "The pricing is not very economical. It is a quite costly product for India. One thing is that when you purchase it, you have to purchase a module separately."

  • "Its price point has been phenomenal. Our previous solution from Trend Micro was triple the cost of it."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Fortinet FortiEDR users.

An Owner at a security firm says, "The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers. The customer has literally about 800 cash registers. That was the use case for Fortinet FortiEDR - to get that down into a tiny space. The only way to do that was to use this product because it had that ability to unbundle services that were a surplus.”

Chandan M., Chief Technical Officer at Provision Technologies LLP, mentions, “The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.” He also adds, “The security is also very good and the firewall response is good.”

Harpreet S., Information Technology Support Specialist at Chemtrade Logistics, explains, "It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."

DeAndre V., Senior Network Administrator at a financial services firm, states, “The dashboard is easy to follow and use. The deployment and uninstalling were easy. I like the detailed information about the path of a file that might be suspicious. Being able to check that out was easy to follow. Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.

Using a centralized combination of network and endpoint analysis, behavioral analysis, data science techniques and threat intelligence, NetWitness XDR helps analysts detect and resolve known and unknown attacks while automating and orchestrating the incident response lifecycle. With these capabilities on one platform, security teams can collapse disparate tools and data into a powerful, blazingly fast user interface.

VIPRE Endpoint Security provides fast, powerful and easy-to-manage endpoint protection for businesses of all sizes, with a small footprint that won't slow you down.
