A suitable choice for unified and efficient infrastructure monitoring across diverse environments providing user-friendly GUI, cost-effectiveness, and versatility
We use it for this specific client, they've deployed multiple instances of it across various locations to facilitate monitoring. To effectively monitor their infrastructure, it seems necessary to implement additional monitoring solutions for all three types of devices they have Nagios Fusion…

Application performance management and error resolution improved with data-driven insights
Dynatrace has multiple functions compared to Splunk AppDynamics, so Splunk AppDynamics should add those functions, which are not available as of now. Dynatrace has a universal agent that collects all information related to their CI, and if one CI has multiple languages, then there is no need to instrument multiple agents. However, Splunk AppDynamics requires multiple agents; if I have one server with multiple applications in different languages, then I need to instrument different agents for each application. Splunk AppDynamics should work with Dynatrace with one single universal agent that works with all application languages, eliminating the need for multiple implementations.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's very easy to manage and monitor it."
"Nagios Fusion version 12.8 excels in user-friendly GUI design, cost-effectiveness, and ease of deployment."
"It is easier for client installation, and the configurations are doable even for a newcomer in the field."
"Being open source lets us customize it for our monitoring needs, saving us money."
"The best features of AppDynamics would be the code application monitoring capabilities."
"The product is easy to install, it took about half an hour. The use and the configurations are simple as well."
"The features related to the application performance in AppDynamics Database Monitoring are the most valuable."
"There are many features that are very valuable to us, but the ability to monitor the status of the users' experience in real-time is one of them."
"It reduces the time to resolve issues and requires less manpower."
"The product provides a nice end-user experience."
"The initial setup is simple."
"The best feature of about Splunk AppDynamics is its interface, which allows me to see the full transaction, exactly what is happening, from where it starts to where the call is going, all the services involved in a call, and exactly the time it took from each node to each node along with the network delays."

Cons

"Adding application performance monitoring to the product alongside infrastructure monitoring would make it a more complete and useful solution."
"In future iterations of this solution, there is a desire for more seamless integration with other monitoring software."
"Nagios Fusion should include a 'remember me' option when logging in, so we don't need to enter a username and password every time."
"There are some bugs, although not that many. There are some situations where the solution is not stable but the number of problems is not very high."
"If it could have a sub-tool for monitoring Apache Kafka logs, it would save me even more time. There are ways to do it now, but a direct way would be faster and better."
"The initial setup could be easier."
"I’d like to see better out-of-the-box visual reporting so that we can roll this up to management."
"It could do with more than one data centre/multiple AWS accounts in a pane of glass. Also, improved scalability to large environments would be helpful."
"The cost element is an issue. I can't expect the company to change its way of work. However, given the fact that we earn and do all our business in South African Rand, I would prefer to buy in Rand as opposed to the American dollar or British pound."
"The agent deployment could be simplified by, for example, adding a GUI."
"Maybe some more CPU power or something like that could be an area to improve."
"The documentation and training material have room for improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is quite reasonable, especially when compared to the broader market."
"Pricing is based on the size of the deployment."
"AppDynamics Server Monitoring is an expensive solution."
"If one is expensive and ten is low price, I rate the product price as seven out of ten."
"It does require licensing to be paid."
"I would like more flexible pricing: A pay-per-use model, rather than just a fixed-price model."
"The solution has a high cost."
"There is an annual cost to use this solution. The licensing model could be improved by making it more cost-effective."
"Take into consideration what you get for specific pricing models and how much it costs to add on things you may need later."
