Reporting has improved with strong administration tools but performance and memory still need work
Compared to the new tools, MicroStrategy is still on the old mechanism, the attributes and metric creations that are still a bit vague compared to other tools. They can actually improve on the go, having derived metrics or derived attributes in MicroStrategy. If they have something like that for the attributes as well, it will be good. A pain point is MicroStrategy memory fluctuations that we couldn't actually read that much. If they can improve that performance, that would be great. MicroStrategy struggles a bit with large data volumes, but they are coming up with new ideas. They have moved to Intelligent Cubes, which can actually handle better data handling. They are coming up with good measures to handle big data.

Business Analytics enables us to better understand our business and compare ourselves meaningfully to our competitors.
The solution has a number of distinct features that are noteworthy. First, it is an incredibly flexible and fast, yet comprehensive analytical solution. Verix has found a way to deploy the solution quickly, in under 3 months, while providing a product that is robust and uniquely tailored to the sales model within the industry. Second, in response to specific business needs that are constantly arising, Verix is consistently able to address our needs in a quick and thoughtful manner. Additionally, since Verix is cloud-based, these changes happen almost immediately, usually within hours or days. Finally, Verix’s intelligent business alerts (i.e. hotspots) provide outstanding value by putting easy-to-use analytics in the hands of the user.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Dependency on development teams, as well as managing the platform, has reduced a lot with Visual Insight."
"The most valuable feature of MicroStrategy is the ability to make your own cubes and, from those, create viewpoints."
"The interactive features that appear in the report were good, the external rendering option they give with multi servers was also good, it was interactive, building the dashboards was pretty straightforward and didn't take me much time to learn, it was also secure, and integration-wise it had options for various data sources so we could connect with different databases, which was an advantage of this solution."
"Our primary use case is to deliver all data insights to our company."
"MicroStrategy's best feature is that it is a user-friendly tool."
"The convenience of it, having it on the mobile so someone has it right there in their pocket most of the time, works well for reporting on daily sales activities."
"The solution offers very good stability; we find it to be reliable, there aren't bugs or glitches, there isn't freezing, and it doesn't crash."
"Presents dashboards with more enhanced visualizations compared to other tools."
"Verix has improved our processes since the entire sales force now functions on this standardized platform, which allows for smoother channels of communication throughout the team."
"The ability to identify in real time changes in behavior that are in contrast to expected and past behavior applies to any constituent’s behavior – customers, prescribers, competitors, payers, and even your own sales reps, and the product is also extremely user friendly."
"Previously we were using a solution called Business Information Warehouse, and another called Tableau; neither was as easy to use or as advanced as the Verix solution."
"Verix’s intelligent business alerts (i.e. hotspots) provide outstanding value by putting easy-to-use analytics in the hands of the user."

Cons

"Scalability issues have been the most significant which we have faced."
"Another feature to consider in the future would be adding some additional offline capabilities without using desktops."
"Customer Service: Very average customer service. Sales is very responsive, but technical support is below average."
"Visual Insight is still not mature and does not have as much flexibility as its competitors."
"Sometimes you can do something in reports, but you cannot do the same thing in documents."
"If you compare it with Power BI with the DAX language, it would be great to put that into MicroStrategy."
"Long way to go to explore complete suite."
"The In-Memory Capability (cubes) needs a lot of improvement."
"Currently there are 10 applications in the solution such as product launch and funnel. In the future I would like to see Verix add additional analytical applications so that an even greater range of the business aspects is covered."
"There are tools in the market that have very slick graphical interface features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Pricing, in general, is high. With Power BI, you get mobile with the license, whereas with MicroStrategy, you have to purchase mobile for extra."
"They made a change in the licensing module some time ago and we can now use all the enterprise tools for free."
"It would be nice if there was a sticker price that says, "This software costs this amount of money." But I think that's just indicative of all software vendors. A lot of people are in it to make money, commissions, so it's just the nature of the business. But I would like to see more transparency, more equality, on pricing. Some people get better deals than others, I think."
"They offer yearly as well as perpetual licenses."
"The pricing is fair."
"They can improve its licensing. It is a bit expensive as compared to Microsoft and other tools."
"The price of MicroStrategy is reasonable."
"It is expensive. We would like to extend it to many users, but we are currently restricting that because the cost is a constraint. If we are given a chance, we would love to expand it."
