User-friendly dashboard and machine learning capabilities improve threat hunting efficiency
LogRhythm SIEM has strong machine-learning capabilities with behavioral rules and analysis. The seamless integration for case management, along with a user-friendly dashboard user interface, makes tasks like threat hunting more efficient. Analytics and behavioral analysis help me save time with rule creation. Its scalability allows me to add components as needed. Overall, LogRhythm SIEM offers end-to-end visibility with a reasonable price.

A network monitoring platform with a useful reporting feature, but permission-based options could be better
The initial setup is fairly easy. Most of it's wizard-based. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to set it up. But if you don't know certain things related to protocols and everything else, it might be difficult. If you know how SNMP works, it'll be fairly simple to set up.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I like LogRhythm's ease of use. The solution has improved compared to previous versions. It had many issues before, like integration, the console, creating reports, false positives, etc. The AI engine has made it stronger in the latest version."
"It allows us to automate a lot of things with a smaller team."
"Technical support is very helpful and responsive."
"We have NetFlow information going into it, so we can examine a lot of traffic patterns and anomalies, especially if something stands out and is not the baseline. This helps a lot."
"It has centralized monitoring for our security operations. Therefore, it improves our analysts' work."
"Overall effectiveness is very good. I like how it is oriented to both analysts and technical support people. It's easily adopted by end users as much as by technologists."
"LogRhythm NextGen SIEM is customizable, simple to manage, and there are many features. The solution does not require an expert to be able to use it, anyone can use it."
"We take in around 750 million logs a day. We have a lot of products and that would be a lot of different panes of glass that we would have to look through otherwise. By centralizing, we can triage and take steps much more quickly than if we tried to man that many interfaces that come with the products."
"Reporting on NetCrunch is pretty good. It's very similar to SolarWinds. It's just a different interface. The majority of everything there was beneficial."

Cons

"In the next release, I would certainly like to see more HIPAA compliance. I would also like to see more integration with Palo Alto Networks, particularly their Traps, which is their endpoint solution."
"LogRhythm SIEM can improve its user interface. The current interface is quite complex and can be challenging to navigate. While it offers many valuable features, understanding how to access and utilize them efficiently takes time. Simplifying the client console's user interface would significantly enhance the user experience and make it more user-friendly."
"The integration is slightly difficult with other assets, like EDR technologies or firewalls."
"Technical support could use a little work in the terms of responding back. The feedback that we received is they do need a little more staff."
"The user interface needs improvement. The more the user can slide around and know what's going on, the better it will be."
"I have probably submitted half a dozen log parser requests, and I keep finding more stuff that we need to keep an eye on that doesn't have a definition in LogRhythm."
"Move it to Linux. I would like to see it get off the SQL Server."
"Parsing is totally controlled by LogRhythm and they do not allow any partner or any third-party to handle this part and this is a key challenge on my end."
"I didn't care for the role-based, permission-based options, which were not the best."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product is inexpensive than other tools."
"The support which allows more customized to the environment when we are deploying new systems is called Professional Service and is very expensive. The technical annual support and there is an annual fee."
"The nice thing about LogRhythm is you can either use the agents, getting a certain number of agents with your license depending on how you want to go, and those agents do a lot of cool things, or you can use CIS Log host, then you have like an unlimited number of them."
"LogRhythm's licensing is based on MPS. There are some add-on features like advanced UEBA, the cloud component for advanced UEBA, and SIEM."
"NextGen SIEM's pricing is moderate."
"When it comes time to renew, they say, "This is what you are using. This is what we can do for you." So, they work with you on pricing."
"Everything is expensive with LogRhythm, and you don't get anything for free."
"I would recommend talking to the rep. That's the biggest thing because they will know what questions to ask."
