We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"What I like about IBM Guardium Data Protection is that some of its features were deployed by collectors during the installation phase. The solution has collector and aggregator features, license installation, and even server patches that you won't find in other security providers. I like the collector-aggregator capabilities of IBM Guardium Data Protection where you install each component on separate servers, then on the aggregator, you collect all the logs on a central server or central console.""The vulnerability assessment is a valuable feature.""The most valuable features have been how easy it is to deploy and use, as well as the comprehensive monitoring options. These are a few things that customers like most about this product.""There are different modules but the most valuable ones are firewalling and masking. Additionally, the auditing of the entire database is helpful, which includes all the activity of the database users and administrators. We can monitor everything and log as well.""The solution supports a lot of databases.""Easy to set up data activity monitoring solution that provides competent technical support. Scalable, stable, and has good performance.""Setting up Guardium was easy and straightforward.""The reporting side is also very, very good, especially its flexibility which allows you to tailor the reports to whatever information you want."

Cons
"It would be helpful, and convenient to improve the Chat support.""The deployment is complex and requires expertise to deploy.""IBM Guardium Data Protection is a mature product. There is a lot of encryption that is not owned by IBM and is done by a third party and is not an integral part of the solution.""The documentation could be better.""Right now, we're in the development phase for IBM Guardium Data Protection, so I don't have any recommendations about additional features and room for improvement in the solution. We're very excited to work on IBM Guardium Data Protection because we are new to the solution, and we're still exploring product features. We're very excited about integrations and use case creation, and it's only after six to eight months that I'll be able to share my recommendations in terms of additional features the solution should have. We did find some difficulty in deploying IBM Guardium Data Protection here in Pakistan because of the lack of resources.""Guardium's storage capabilities could use some improvement. I'd also like to have some better integration using digital technology or a connector.""The backup and recovery is very resource-hungry and requires a huge amount of storage capacity.""Could be more user friendly; deployment is a little complex."

"Micro Focus Voltage SecureData Enterprise can improve the types of encryptions. They are limited by the number of types of encryption and types of masking they are allowing. In the solution that we were using, the illustration interface and the number of capabilities in terms of data masking were limited.""For a future release, the interface looks a bit dated and could be improved."

  • "Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
  • "The price of the solution could be better."
  • "Guardium is most suitable for large scale enterprises because the pricing model is better if you are implementing a large number of databases."
  • "Reasonable cost but could be lower."
  • "IBM Guardium Data Protection charges you based on the number of users, e.g. based on the number of licenses, and it's either on a per-license or a per-data basis."
