Offers numerous prebuilt data quality plans that can be reused for various data cleansing tasks
We had many duplicates originating from different source systems. We were able to match and deduplicate a significant amount of data. Additionally, we could synchronize and write back the latest information to the systems that were out of sync, ensuring they had the most recent data. As a result, we could write back and update the source systems.

Handles large data volumes effectively and offers competitive pricing
There is a lot of improvement required, as we still face some cache issues most of the time, which is a challenge that we expect to see resolved in the future. Additionally, there is some limitation when we are working with a tool, especially regarding In and Out parameters, and I feel that this aspect should be improved going ahead. We face issues with the API side, as Cloud Application Integration cannot handle large volumes; according to the API page, there is a limitation of 500 records or 500 MB. The AI integrated into the Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services solution is called Application Integration, where we still face challenges when dealing with huge volumes, as previously explained.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One great feature with OmniGen is the time it takes to develop and deploy to production."
"Ibi Data Quality offers numerous prebuilt data quality plans that can be reused for various data cleansing tasks. Additionally, it provides a variety of prebuilt match and merge rules for performing master data management,"
"Works quickly to develop and deploy to production."
"The process of using the tool's scalability option is well documented."
"It has been leading the market with hierarchy management and all the different match concepts and algorithms. They're very robust."
"On a scale of 1-10, I rate Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) a 10 out of 10."
"Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services offers a wide variety of services, including Cloud Data Integration, which is akin to a replica of PowerCenter on the cloud. I particularly like the mass ingestion service."
"Having access to PIM production, we get all the details of the supplier from here and we also get to update the information on the master catalog for urgent tasks."
"The product's most valuable feature is the ability to select the data flow and lineage."
"The solution allows the complete governance process, starting from the data quality, those definitions, and it can get the data quality in the EDC."
"It's probably one of the leading lights in ETL."

Cons

"Special integration support could be improved."
"The special integration support is something that could be improved in the solution."
"Their data governance portal can be improved. It lacks data governance-related features. Also, PII and anomaly detection could be valuable use cases for ibi. Adding these features would be a great enhancement."
"Error reporting and debugging need improvement."
"The licenses are too expensive compared to before, which is why customers are now preferring other data metadata management tools like OneTrust, Collibra, and Azure Purview."
"Informatica Axon does not provide complete transparency about the level of detailing you need and the logic used in ETL."
"New machine learning could be added to Informatica MDM because the solution is outdated and is not moving with the current trends."
"They have too many diversified products. If you don't know Informatica, it's very confusing and feels very idiotic."
"Database access is highly restricted particularly if you're using the cloud version."
"In general, it is good. We used to face some Java application problems, approximately two issues a month."
"I think everything related to the APIs and the manageability of the APIs in Informatica MDM are areas where improvements are required."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"We are quite happy with the licensing model."
"Informatica Axon is a costly solution. I rate Informatica Axon a four out of ten for its pricing."
"The pricing is high compared to other tools on the market."
"it's expensive, but if you're looking for a stable solution, Informatica MDM is a good one to choose."
"It is expensive. That's probably the biggest drawback. The business has heartache paying the license, but that's mainly because they don't realize what value it brings. The key thing about the MDM solution is that it is in the backend, and no one sees what it is actually doing. You don't know it is a problem until it is not there."
"I rate the product's price a seven on a scale of one to ten, where one is the cheapest and ten is the most expensive. The product is a bit expensive."
"Informatica MDM is a costly solution because it comes as a bundle. They are also globally positioning themselves and are definitely working on very upgraded technologies. If someone wanted to do it on the cloud, they have a lot of flexibility because they upgrade themselves according to the current needs. It definitely comes with a lot of features and that's the reason why it's costly. The licensing cost should be approximately one million dollars. It's about four to five times that of other vendors."
"Informatica MDM is very expensive. Apart from licensing fees, they have broken down their products into multiple products, and they charge for each and every product. If the data is huge, they charge for the data. At times, we have to use third party services for data cleaning, and they charge for that as well."
