Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution's technical support was good. I rate the technical support a ten out of ten.""Consolidation and duplications features.""The storage, BladeSystems, Virtual Connect, and simplicity with hyper-converged solutions are the most valuable features of this solution.""The most valuable features of HPE ConvergedSystem are scalability and resilience.""We find the deduplication and compression features to be most valuable, as well as that of the backup solution inside.""Most of the HP products I come across are they are easy to install. That's not very complex.""The solution's most valuable feature is its ability to restore lost machines. Essentially its high availability capabilities are extremely valuable to us.""The tool's most valuable features are stability and scalability."

"Our primary use case is for E-Business Suite applications the applications for the government, and most of the applications that use an HCM.""Scalability and technical support.""Unix is not as easy for the users, it needs more maintenance and costs extra.""Because it's classified as an engineered system, it's all integrated, it's all supported by one vendor. We don't have to go to multiple vendors for support, it's all integrated under Oracle.""A valuable feature is the Exadata Storage appliance, optimized for database queries.""Because SuperCluster is a specially engineered system, we have confidence in that all the components are compatible with one another. Everything runs together as a well-coupled group of machines, and the performance is great (especially the memory).""The two features that I find to be the most valuable are high availability and high performance.""The performance is significantly improved, and the administration is easy because it is a single platform end-to-end."

Cons
"HPE ConvergedSystem needs to improve its management. I would like the tool to add cloud management features so that the system can be accessed anywhere from the cloud.""The solution needs to add NFS features.""The tool has shortcomings in its performance monitoring part.""The solution has a complicated front-end.""I would like to see better manageability and integration with third-party tools.""Features that should be addressed concern the HPE functionality and the interaction with VMware.""The MTG inside HP could be improved.""Pricing is an area of concern in the solution where improvements are required."

More HPE ConvergedSystem Cons →

"There are many areas for improvement. For example, better guidance in terms of troubleshooting issues relating to ZFS, as well as better tools/diagnostics for monitoring that specific component, to better identify potential issues. Hardware monitoring via OEM 13.2 is not 100 percent, as Ops Center is still required in some instances.""They may have made some improvements but based on the version that I am using, it is a little complicated because it is based on the Unix Operating system.""Speaking from a business perspective, our main problem is that our particular edition of SuperCluster is now at end-of-life status, making it obsolete and impossible to get support for. This presents a challenge for us, as finding a path to our next solution is not easy.""A major issue for us is that after the most recent update of SuperCluster, they have now stopped all future production of new versions. That is to say, after M7 there was M8, and now there are no future versions planned (e.g. M9) in the market.""If it had capabilities to integrate really well with DB2 or SQL Server or Hitachi SANs, those sort of things, that would be a real benefit. Right now, it's fully supported only under all Oracle infrastructure.""It's not working as we expected. We thought it would be fast and reliable but we are not getting the reliability. It's not stable.""Not a very user friendly solution.""We have faced network connectivity issues."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Pricing is good. We have not calculated what hyper-converged infrastructure has brought us but I think there has to be some lower cost for us, compared to the public cloud. Obviously, there would be a lower cost, probably by more than half."
  • "This is an expensive system and not every customer has the kind of budget to support it."
  • "The pricing is sensitive."
  • "This is an expensive solution."
  • "My company has a five year contract for HPE ConvergedSystem. The contracts depend on companies and sometimes it can be three years. The solution is worth its price."
  • "There are some extra costs in addition to the licensing costs for the yearly maintenance from professional third-party services."
  • "The tool's licensing costs are yearly."
  • "The pricing is competitive. Not a major problem. We have a subscription model."

  • "For us, the licensing costs are a large amount, but we are also paying for the rack, the SLA, and other extras. When I look into our organization's requirements regarding performance, machine load, etc., I believe that, while expensive, SuperCluster is nevertheless good for us."
  • "Due to the multiple products involved in our use of SuperCluster (including different software, hardware, etc.), I cannot comment on the licensing aspect."
