Monitoring has provided factual end‑to‑end insights and supports proactive incident response
From using HPE Aruba Networking UXI, I have access to real numbers for latency, packet drops, and other metrics. We also have a pretty intensive alerting mechanism that works on specific IPs for all our sites that are pinging, so if they are not reachable, we will have an alert and an incident created. I assess the value of HPE Aruba Networking UXI's application visibility in enhancing network performance as great. HPE Aruba Networking UXI's remote troubleshooting capabilities help me manage my distributed networks in a great way because we are not relying on user input. We are relying on real facts from HPE Aruba Networking UXI devices that are placed end-of-line on all our factories.

Traffic insights have reduced transit costs and support secure, direct connections with providers
The best features that Kentik offers are the ability to identify traffic end-to-end and to know which transit is used, if it goes through any other transit, to see the entire flow, from the subscriber to the content provider and vice versa, from the content provider to the subscriber.I can also determine whether it is symmetric or asymmetric traffic, and if it goes through any provider that has some kind of bottleneck. That is very important. Regarding the security part, which is also possible to handle through Kentik, you can configure it in a way that makes the network more secure and reduces the amount of dirty traffic or attacks received. Kentik has had a high positive impact on my organization. Besides the cost reduction, it has been possible to perform troubleshooting more effectively, and also regarding DDoS-related attacks. In addition to cost reduction, we had a more reliable connection. Since the moment we identified that it was possible to have a direct connection with content providers like CDN77, Cloudflare, and Akamai, we established a direct connection there through a PNI with these content providers, making the network less dependent on an IP transit provider.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The integration of HPE Aruba Networking UXI with other security and networking tools is quite robust, allowing us to collect information from firewalls, routers, access points, and more, and present it through Grafana to proactively address issues before clients open support tickets."
"Aruba products have significantly improved our network reliability, as none of my teammates have logged a call to Aruba in the past year."
"The performance, elasticity, and efficiency of Aruba products have been exceptional."
"HPE Aruba Networking UXI's remote troubleshooting capabilities help me manage my distributed networks in a great way because we are not relying on user input and are relying on real facts from HPE Aruba Networking UXI devices that are placed end-of-line on all our factories."
"The most valuable feature of HP Aruba Networking UX-I is its 24/7 monitoring capability."
"There was definitely an ROI with the use cases I have had; when you see that the network issues and trouble tickets that are opening start to decrease, that is where your ROI starts coming in regarding productivity."
"Compared to PRTG, Kentik's real-time network monitoring features are definitely superior."
"Good NetFlow visualization and analysis tools are valuable to anybody who needs to understand the traffic that flows in and out the network."
"Kentik has had a positive impact on my organization in terms of our network visibility because we leave our dashboard on a display screen, where the entire engineering team can see it."
"We're pretty happy with the API functionality. It's web, and it's very simple to set up queries. It has served us well and you don't need to be an expert on the API or the product to set these things up."
"The most valuable features have been anything around traffic engineering: being able to determine the source or destination of a surge of traffic, whether it's DDoS-related, or a customer just happened to have a sudden uptick in traffic. Being able to tell where that's coming from or where it's going to enables us to do things based on that."
"I am able to do a lot of work on the visualization end to create different visualizations and different ways to get information out of it."
"The most valuable feature is being able to pull traffic patterns; to and from destinations. We're able to understand where our traffic is going, our top talkers from an AS set, as well as where our traffic's coming from."
"Collecting that data and having those metrics first-hand, in real-time, allows us to make an educated decision, versus an uneducated guess."

Cons

"They could improve their services."
"It would be beneficial if the tool offered a less expensive subscription as it is currently costly for our clients."
"Some manual administrative tasks still need to be triggered manually, leading to lower efficiency."
"Areas where the HPE Aruba Networking UXI can improve include the integration of SD-WAN and security in a single solution."
"I would like to see more granular user and security rights."
"My experience with pricing, setup costs, and licensing shows that the prices are quite high."
"I consider the pricing model as an area for improvement."
"I've checked out the V4 version of the interface and it's still a little bit clunky for me to use. I still go back to the old interface. That's definitely one that they still need to work on. It doesn't seem like everything that you get in the V3, the older interface, is there. For instance, I was trying to add a user or do the administrative tasks in V4, and I couldn't figure out where I was supposed to do that."
"The only downside to Kentik, something that I don't like, is that it's great that it shows you where these anomalies lie, but it's not actionable. Kentik is valuable, don't get me wrong, but if it had an actionable piece to it..."
"They're moving more in a direction where they are saying, "Hey, here's information that you may be interested in or may a need," before the question has to explicitly be asked. Continuing to move in that direction would be a good thing."
"I believe they're already working on this, but I would love for them to create better integrations from network flow data to application performance — tracing — so that we could overlay that data more readily. With more companies going hybrid, flow logs and flow data, whether it be VPC or on-prem, matched with application performance and trace data, is pretty important."
"It also detects anomalies proactively, but the same is not so true when it comes to real network problems, since they tend to just happen."
