Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
"Forescout Platform's most valuable features are that it is very granular. We are able to cull out a lot of information about our particular device or endpoint. The configuration and the visibility are very seamless. Overall the solution is very easy to handle and it's very comprehensive.""The most valuable features of the Forescout Platform are ease of management and outstanding visibility. The visibility is simple to obtain.""The actions that the agentless visibility, allow us to perform on the endpoint, are really amazing, especially in the way that it is done.""The user management has been very easy for the most part.""Forescout Platform provides multiple features. They have a very effective device fingerprinting in their cloud. You do not need to add any devices manually, such as in Mac devices. Other solutions you have to add IoT devices and OT devices manually. This is one of the major areas that Forescout Platform is excelling in.""The most valuable feature is the ease of deployment, which does not require the use of an agent.""You can quickly filter your view of devices and zero in on the ones you want using a variety of tools, such as what subnet it is on or what it has been classified as.""This solution can be used to organize guest portals, integrate switches, and create policies. Some of its standard use cases also include completing key process upgrades and anti-virus of Windows OS."

"The usability is really good. It's very easy to use and a good platform. It is scalable and very stable. The technical support is fine and the setup is super easy.""Compliance and vulnerability scans are most valuable. Compliance scan helps in validating how our teams are complying, and vulnerability scan helps in future-proofing. Its vulnerability detection is accurate.""The most valuable features of Tenable SC are the reports and the dashboards.""The solution is one of the most, if not the most, stable product available.""Tenable SC is good for reporting and alerting. The filtering feature is also very valuable. Its integration with multiple vendors is quite good. It can be integrated with SIEM solutions and PAM solutions such as Thycotic, which is very helpful.""We use Tenable to scan all of our environments and plugins for vulnerabilities. Tenable helps us discover network vulnerabilities to threats and piracy.""Very customizable with a lot of templates.""I find Tenable SC to be a very scalable product."

"Other solutions have TACACS+, but Forescout does not. In the next release, I would like to see Forescout have accounting.""When we automate an email to send to a user, sometimes it gets blocked, but that has nothing to do with Forescout. It depends on the mail gateway that we use or integrate with.""Two things can be improved in the Forescout Platform. First of all, the support for some certain proprietary protocols from other vendors, but they are very widely used. If the TechEx from Cisco, was added to Forescout, then it will be a full solution for me.""In the next release of the solution, it could benefit from being more flexible to allow for more freedom.""Custom integrations need to be better.""Forescout Platform could improve the costs of integrations.""Initially, the implementation of the Forescout Platform took some time to figure out. The reason is we are a manufacturing unit and we have certain silos that are insulated areas where certain systems will not connect to the internet or to the LAN. Since there are many parts of it, we have to have an inclusive view of all those systems. It took a while for us to initially implement, but after a few months, everything worked well.""As a user, if I am using a laptop that is Wi-Fi connected, Forescout identifies my port connectivity as one user license, and if I take that same laptop with the same username to a wired network, which is also the same network that is used for the Wi-Fi connection, Forescout detects it as a separate license."

More Forescout Platform Cons →

"Tenable's reporting engine needs improvement. It needs to be more efficient and add more features.""There is not much room for improvement. However, there should be a guide that describes the step-by-step procedures for doing tasks. Otherwise, training is required from a senior guy to a junior guy.""The biggest issue I have with the solution is when I'm using the scanning it picks up the original DNS of that device. That means, before we image it and actually change the DNS to something within our company structure, it'll just be random numbers and letters and Tenable will stick to that DNS for a long time.""The reporting side can be improved. The dashboards are nice, but exporting things out for reports for management was a little tough.""I will say it's a lot slower compared to an MS scan. It takes so much longer, so the performance could definitely be worked on.""Current web page needs improvement, slows down processes.""For downloading reports, we have to go to the scan and then we have to go to the reports and download the Excel or CSV or PDF. I think these menus and clicks can be minimized.""I think the vendor training provided for could be a lower price. It's quite expensive for the training."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Licenses are perpetual but can come with renewable support."
  • "We might have paid in the ballpark of $20,000 yearly for our licenses. I do not recall there being other fees over and above the standard licensing fee."
  • "They base the license on the number of devices, which is quite misleading."
  • "The cost of the solution depends on the customer's requirement because the customer is asking for different integration with a different product. Forescout Platform's price would start to get a bit higher. However, overall the price is a little expensive. It's can fit within the customer budget."
  • "The price of the solution is reasonable. We have paid for the license for five years. We have integration with Symantec AV for orchestration, and we have an additional license."
  • "Forescout is more expensive than Cisco because Cisco gives high discounts."
  • "We have a very clear licensing model for business. I don't have to have a Ph.D. to be able to understand the licensing model as you might need for other solutions. If I know exactly what we want, it can tell you which license you need. The solution is easy for purchasing, ordering, and ease of deployment as well."
  • "There are no additional costs that I am aware of."
  • More Forescout Platform Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "I use a local license to perform penetration testing and I'm pretty happy with everything when it comes to pricing and licensing."
  • "Though reasonable, the main competitor of Tenable SC, Rapid7, offers a more aggressive and better priced product."
  • "It is a bit expensive. Everything is included in the license."
  • "The price of Tenable SC is expensive, we pay approximately €70,000 for the license annually. We have to pay for each IP test. The cost of other solutions is far less, such as Nessus Professional, which is €3,000 annually."
  • "Compared to other companies or other products it could maybe be a little bit less, but the price is okay. I would say it's not very expensive."
