Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"You can manage all of your connectors individually, which gives you a very good ability to trace which one of your ETL processes is running and when.""The ease of usability is the most valuable feature. It's very easy and quick to set up. It also has a central hub as opposed to GoldenGate which is one direct interface. For GoldenGate I would have needed three interfaces whereas with HVR I have a central interface that manages everything.""Its arrays are powerful enough to handle migrations even when the replication is happening in the background, without causing any trouble with the ongoing traffic.""The compare feature is the most valuable piece of it.""Fivetran is remarkably easy to use; I haven't encountered any other data integration tool that is as user-friendly.""Making the decision to implement Fivetran was supported by the fact that they have better connectors than other competitors.""The product has some seamless connectors, which are readily available.""The most valuable feature of Fivetran is that it only synchronizes what needs to be synchronized."

"Syniti Data Replication is very easy to use. It is user-friendly and easy to set up. You can provide or create connections with just a simple click. It is minimally intrusive."

Cons
"Fivetran should add more connectors because its competitors, like Airbyte, have more connectors.""We use a separate tool for "reverse ETL", which is the opposite of what Fivetran does; it pushes data from your data warehouse back out to business applications. If Fivetran pulls data from those same applications, they should also enable users to push it back. I would love to do both ETL and reverse ETL in the same tool.""HVR Software's technical support could be improved. Whenever we log a case, the response that we get from the support is a bit delayed.""The interface needs to be more user-friendly.""Some of the pain points we're looking at are trying to integrate some of the items in the Microsoft stack, so SharePoint and Excel, and then some of the newer Azure services.""More connectors are needed for exotic, popular, and rising star portals.""I would like for them to incorporate additional transformations. A valuable aspect of the product is that it does inflight transformations and that could be expanded.""Fivetran is very expensive for data sources with a lot of rows, such as email data. I would like to see cheaper pricing for data sources like that."

"There should be an option to easily create tables from its graphical user interface. Its price should also be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I don't have the exact information, but I know it is high, and it is on a yearly basis. There is no additional cost for what we're doing. We're always open to doing things cheaper, so we might potentially implement a different solution."
  • "I've heard that the license for HVR is a bit costly compared to its competitors, but since it's reliable and efficient, I think the customer shouldn't be bothered about the cost."
  • "Fivetran is very expensive, and its database-driven pricing model is outdated."
  • "I can't give exact amounts because that's based on usage, but it's more expensive than some of its competitors."
  • "In the first year, we were given a very good discount. It was approximately 20,000 Euros per year. In the third year, we purchased credit for two years and the price was 33,000 Euros per year."
  • "I would say they're a little bit on the expensive side, and their contract process is not particularly good, but there is a lot of potential flexibility."
  • "The pricing model is okay and mid to large companies will not have an issue with it."
  • "The licensing costs are extremely high for the usage of somebody who has one GB or two GB of usage per day for real-time traffic. There are many other players in the market which are similarly priced or competitively priced. On average per month, it used to come around 12,000-15,000 USD, which is very high."

  • "I don't have any visibility on the price because I am on the technical side, but based on what our client said, it is more expensive than other products. Its licensing is on a yearly basis."

    Overview

Fivetran is a data integration and migration solution that centralizes data from various sources into a data warehouse (such as Snowflake or BigQuery) for analytics. Its most valuable features include replication and managed pipelines, integration with DBT for data transformation, and many source connections.

Fivetran is easy to use, with fast data migration and an intuitive portal for easy setup and troubleshooting. It has helped organizations integrate and manage data, saving time and resources.

Syniti Data Replication (formerly DBMoto) software makes it easy to implement heterogeneous Data Replication, Change Data Capture, and Data Transformation capabilities — without the need for consulting services. Deploy and run powerful data replication features through an easy to use GUI and wizard-based screens — no stored procedures to develop, no proprietary syntax to learn, and no programming on the source or target database platforms.
