A cloud solution for warehousing with a troubleshooting feature
The initial setup is straightforward. It's based on user requirements. We also conduct heat mapping using a couple of tools. The only requirement is to understand the technical or configuration aspects from the user's end and then configure it. Mist takes no more than 15 to 20 minutes for a particular deployment. You need to understand the end user's environment and have a concrete plan on whether it's a greenfield installation or an existing one, considering the density and height. Based on that, we need to develop a passive heat map. Then, you need to discuss with the user to understand exactly what needs to be configured and what they require in their environment. Based on that, you can proceed with the installation. Additionally, you can perform post-installation heat mapping to ensure it matches the earlier heat map. I rate the initial setup an eight out of ten, where one is difficult, and ten is easy.

Helps in pinpointing a problem quickly, scales very well, and handles SNMP monitoring better than others
It's a bit too complex right now. From the point of DX Spectrum, you have to implement a lot of server components. It should be easier because a lot of automation is possible today in the market. If everything is already prepared, you just need one day to deploy it. It doesn't take so much time. The implementation strategy depends on the customer or data center environment and the processes. With preparation, it takes about one month. In terms of the staff required, you need just one person for the Spectrum piece, but of course, you need a few people for preparing the network, firewall rules, and things like that. In terms of maintenance, the maintenance is that you have to keep it up to date. Other than that, there is not so much to do.

Once you know how to use the product, it's easy and simple
We can effectively troubleshoot any situation which goes on, due to the visibility provided by the InfiniStreams. Our team does a lot of the packet analysis, which is really key for us. We are able to solve whatever the problem might be for customers. This solution provides us with increased visibility while conducting IT deployments. Most of the time, it helps us get to root cause quickly. We use the solution for unified communication application performance in our CSAN environment. It helps us with uptime and user experience. From the visibility standpoint, whatever device that we're monitoring, it gives us all the info that we need from uptime to issues on the whole analytical piece of the product.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The single dashboard is a valuable feature."
"We can manage the entire system across the network and troubleshoot the pain points."
"The granular access control that it provided so that you could only see devices that were related to what you were working on was great. I couldn't see the entire inventory of devices. I could only see the ones that were related to my work. It has got a very granular access control component."
"The fault management is perfect."
"We can monitor MPLS network VPN, network configuration, and backups. It's highly scalable for network configuration management."
"It's a good tool. It's simple to do the configuration."
"The most valuable features have been the interface and the ability to do equipment management."
"It creates transparency and makes everything work by being more transparent."
"Offers a lot of functionality."
"Allows us to have a single console/notification point, with the alarms of all the tools that we use for monitoring."
"It allows us to get quicker resolutions. We can see exactly what is using up the bandwidth, so we can assist end users."
"It helps us to assist our customers to isolate problems. If it is us who is having the problem, then we can use it to streamline the process."
"It has cut our troubleshooting down by days. Once we have a product in place, we show people examples of how it can streamline their troubleshooting process."
"The most valuable features are speed and cost."
"The product is stable. I have never had any issue where we have lost an InfiniStream, or visibility from that particular InfiniStream, throughout the bank."
"The technical support is really good. They will go above and beyond, if you are running into a problem. You can go to a sales engineer, who will engage technical support to help you out."
"When we have mobile operators who are signal partners, where one is the roaming host and another is the roamer, we are able to see their traffic. Their packets are able to detect if any faults to develop, and at what point they fail."
"It's an easy product to set up."

Cons

"The technical support needs improvement."
"The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."
"Make it easier to certify devices."
"There's a little bit of complexity to the initial install because you're dealing with operating systems. You have to make sure all the prerequisites are done, anti-virus exceptions, etc. Then there's the bringing it up and then there's discovery of the network and setting that up. It takes time."
"We have had one support issue that's been open for a couple of months, and it is currently open."
"For us, the implementation was quite complex but it's because of the large number of different environments we're dealing with."
"DX Spectrum is stable. However, now and then there are some issues, but overall it is good."
"Its visualization can be improved. It doesn't have a very advanced GUI. It is very basic and simple, but it does work."
"We want to make our own choice for the AIOps solution and do not want to be forced to use the Broadcom OI solution by default."
"If the integration is simplified or improved, it will be a unique selling point in comparison to the competition on the market."
"I'd like them to make the product more user-friendly."
"The scalability has some limitations and quirks to it. I would like to be able to upgrade rather than replace the whole thing."
"The single pane of glass feed still needs work."
"It's not able to communicate with our probes."
"We don't use the single pane of glass view, even though we own it."
"There is a timeout feature that we have been asking for awhile."
"The NetFlow Collectors could handle more flows per minute."
"Being able to manage the packet flow switches in nGeniusONE would be great."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is expensive."
"The solution's pricing could be better."
"The product, support, and maintenance are all expensive, which is another reason that we are switching to another solution."
"DX Spectrum's pricing is neither expensive nor cheap."
"It is expensive compared to other tools in the market."
"In general, the license cost will be about 30% of the total TCO for this tool (hardware/support team, OS costs, and OS management)."
"It’s a great tool, but an expensive one. Learn how to use it properly."
"The price is very high."
"Since the acquisition by Broadcom, we have not had such a good experience with licensing and pricing. Since they were bought by Broadcom, every sales contract is getting complicated. It's very complicated, and it's much more expensive than before. It's not a good pricing strategy from Broadcom."
"I would like it to be more scalable with less spend."
"The scalability is good, but it comes at a cost. E.g., if you need 100 InfiniStream because you are sending gigs or terabytes of data to one InfiniStream, then you will have to purchase another InfiniStream, which are not cheap."
"It can be scalable. It just costs too much. With a company as big as ours, it gets too expensive to accommodate every single site."
"This product could be cheaper."
"To capture more with the solution that we bought, you have to buy another InfiniStreamNG, and there are only four ports in the back."
"The price is a little high."
