Cloud backup has reduced storage costs and now delivers fast, reliable data recovery
My overall experience in this field is seven years. The deployment model I have chosen for Druva Phoenix is mostly cloud-based backup. Government authorities and government customers majorly opt for on-premises deployment, but we have a very limited customer segment from that area. Druva Phoenix primarily operates on a private cloud, with some customers utilizing hybrid cloud solutions. If I assess the effectiveness of backup features in Druva Phoenix, particularly in minimizing operational disruptions, I would rate it as a very strong 9 or 9.5 on a scale of 10. I am not using Druva Data Security Cloud. My overall review rating for Druva Phoenix is 9.

Seamless backups have transformed data protection and now safeguard critical workloads
The best features Veeam Backup for AWS offers are that it is fast and reliable, easy to use, creates image backups of PostgreSQL, allows upgrading full functions using the AWS plugin package, and enables using a single console to manage data protection and recovery. Veeam Backup for AWS has positively impacted my organization by solving the challenges of managing backup in complex AWS environments. Its features such as data deduplication and compression offered at a good price are very cost-effective. Backups are also very powerful and easy when using Veeam Backup for AWS software. Since using Veeam Backup for AWS, I have seen specific outcomes such as reduced downtime and data loss by 80% from 60%, along with compliance and risk mitigation and cost savings since it is very easy and cost-effective.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is great for companies that need backup capabilities."
"One of the best features in Druva Phoenix for me personally is that it is an air-gapped environment, where you can keep cloud backup on a separate air-gapped environment and save from any kind of ransomware attack, and it is a ransomware safer environment because a customer gets a separate environment."
"Once you set it up and you tell it exactly what needs to be backed up, you literally forget about it. It sends you emails and notifications of the current status of the jobs."
"The best features of Druva Phoenix include comprehensive backup capabilities where you can back up your data with agent plus backup, deploy the proxy, and integrate your VMs to take your backup."
"It's patch-based, so you don't have to bother about the backup server or the repository."
"I would definitively say that we have been able to make our people more productive by at least 30%."
"The initial setup was very straightforward."
"We chose the best one that works for us which was Druva Phoenix."
"One of the basic improvements we have experienced with Veeam Backup for AWS is a significant reduction in recovery time during testing and during a live incident."
"My main use case for Veeam Backup for AWS is that I have been using it since 2018, and it is one of the best backup solutions available."
"In my opinion, the best features of Veeam Backup for AWS include that Veeam Backup VDA is best for EC2 instance snapshots, as it allows you to achieve compression in a better way and you don't need to save anything elsewhere or need an additional S3 bucket because it is going to use your account-level backup vaults."
"My experience shows that with traditional manual AWS recovery, such as a snapshot plus rebuild, the time is 30 to 120 minutes, while with Veeam Backup for AWS-based recovery an EC2 restore is within 5 to 10 minutes, an EBS volume restore is in minutes, and an RDS point-in-time recovery is in 10 to 30 minutes, giving 50% to 80% faster recovery compared to traditional manual AWS recovery."
"The best features Veeam Backup for AWS offers in my experience are reliability and security."
"Veeam Backup for AWS has been a game changer for my organization."
"Veeam Backup for AWS has reduced many risks for my organization because in a difficult moment, if I need to restore my backup, I have access to a backup outside my environment and I can restore this backup to another AWS account; this is how I manage risk."
"Veeam Backup for AWS has valuable features such as easy management and installation."

Cons

"Druva Phoenix should include a few reporting features that it doesn't provide currently."
"They were very much responsive a few years back, but in the last one or two years, I believe the responsiveness has gone down."
"There is room for improvement in the reporting aspect of Druva Phoenix."
"Druva Phoenix could be improved if they provided bare metal recovery for physical servers, which would be beneficial for server deployment."
"The price is always one of those things that you always look to just improve if you're a not-for-profit organization."
"The product's pricing needs to be improved."
"Deploying it in a hybrid cloud model involves some minor complexities, though nothing represents a significant challenge."
"Druva Phoenix is optimized to work with x86 platforms, making it unsuitable for backing up non-x86 architectures like AIX. The solution is primarily designed for physical Linux and Windows systems based on the x86 architecture, as well as virtualized Windows and Linux environments. However, if you have an AIX system, it cannot be deployed in the cloud, and therefore, backing it up in the cloud is not a concern."
"People must be aware of the costs associated with Veeam Backup for AWS and try to manage them. Be aware of it because this is a sudden cost and a surprising cost - what I would say is a hidden cost."
"We face minimal challenges during deployment, but sometimes issues arise during upgrades; however, we usually find solutions quickly."
"Veeam Backup for AWS can be improved in some areas. Speed for very large EC2 and RDS environments with Veeam Backup for AWS could be improved, such as better parallel recovery for multi-terabyte databases."
"I believe that Veeam Backup for AWS could be improved by addressing the lack of a hybrid solution and enhancing the user interface to be more user-friendly, as the initial setup was somewhat complex, especially for less tech-savvy users."
"Overall, Veeam Backup for AWS works well, but there are a few areas where I think it could be improved."
"We also need faster response time for high technical issues in case of support."
"There is room for improvement in Veeam Backup for AWS regarding its pricing. There are alternative solutions available at a lower price."
"Veeam Backup for AWS should provide a hybrid solution, and the user interface needs to be more user-friendly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Druva Phoenix's pricing is based on the service provided, and it's reasonable. The cost of the service will depend on the size of your data and the number of virtual machines being backed up. However, the pricing structure is straightforward and easy to understand."
"It's very costly. Normal people wouldn't understand how their credits are calculated. It's pretty complex."
"I assume clients use Druva Phoenix because it is cheaper than other products."
"We’ve had experience with the data center for a while and we have had solutions that were able to support older versions of the operating systems that we needed. I would like for Druva to support it as well."
