Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The blocking feature is very good.""Cloudflare is simple to use.""The simplicity of the solution is its valuable features as almost no effort was needed to learn the configurations. It is also one of the cheapest firewalls available in this category.""The capabilities of the software are strong enough for me to do what it's supposed to do. For me, we don't need to do a lot of configuration on our site. We just enable it and monitor it.""It will take the blow rather than our applications should an attack occur.""Cloudflare DDoS is better than its competitors for its security, deployment, and scalability.""It is a stable solution.""Cloudflare DDoS mitigates DDoS attacks."

"The virtual machine configuration tool is very helpful for setting up a new server or for modifying an existing server.""Because of the way that their pricing model is set up, I can scale up or down the size of a customer's server very easily. It makes life very easy for me when they run out of space, need more speed or RAM, etc. I can very easily pay the difference and reboot the machine, and now I have the upgrade that I wanted. That just makes it extremely simple.""The most valuable feature is the domain settings page.""It has helped to minimize the risk and scale services at large in virtually no time.""Generally speaking, I have not found any faults using Linode. For what we wanted, they provided a complete solution.""The number one thing we like about Linode isn't necessarily a service, it's their support. We've found their support to be absolutely fantastic. They've been so outstanding with their support. Every single time we call them and we ask for advice or help, they go above and beyond and it's really made us appreciate what they do.""Service availability is the most valuable feature. It gives every user 100 percent uptime.""The most valuable aspects of Linode are the virtual server and the clean server. I install what I need on it."

Cons
"The tool should provide on-premise versions. Currently, all versions are cloud-based.""The initial onboarding was causing us some confusion.""Lacks a VPN feature to provide a secure connection to the data center.""The response time for support must be reduced.""Cloudflare DDoS has poor technical support.""The free plan has limitations. For example, I can only set up three rules, and the application firewall is unavailable.""The onboarding process can be improved a little bit.""Our subscription plan for the solution has a limitation of bot signatures."

"They could have more international servers. There are certain places throughout Europe and Eastern Europe which are very open to doing a lot of technology business, such as Romania. Romania is very open to technology. At other service providers, I have stuff in Romania. I think there are some Eastern European locations that would be more open to it. So, if they could have more European points of presence, that would be more helpful.""It's not really an issue with Linode itself but upgrading Linux major versions can be challenging. It would be be fantastic if Linode developed a way to ease transitioning to a major new Linux upgrade.""One thing that I'd really like to see is auto-scaling node pools for their Kubernetes. I don't think that they have that. That's a huge one and would be very helpful. Specifically, what I would like is auto-scaling node pools that would scale down to zero nodes, which is tricky. That's very important for certain use cases.""There is no notification from the company regarding upgrades.""Right now, they don't have multiple data centers. They have limited data centers. I am currently using the Singapore and Mumbai data centers, but I am looking for data centers in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. They need to improve the availability of their data centers and partnership engagements with cloud Panda solution providers, like us.""The only improvement in this aspect of the service which I can think of is perhaps a pool of developers who could be hired for those cases where the need goes beyond the support offered.""It would be nice if they had more data centers in Latin America.""I would like Linode (without cluttering things) to provide some type of DevOps workflow where people are configuring their pipelines from running their tests and deploying to their test server. Once approved by clicking a button, it just gets deployed to production. I would like something like Azure DevOps, which we use for large applications, and would be something nice to have in Linode."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The price tag is no longer $200,000, but rather $300,000 to $400,000. It's twice."
  • "The pricing of the solution is cheap. The licensing cost is also very low. I rate the cost and pricing a three out of ten."
  • "The solution is not that expensive."
  • "The solution's pricing lacks transparency."

  • "I pay just over £20 per month and have done so ever since I started eight years ago, which to me is good value."
  • "The pricing model is very simple. I like the simplicity of it, starting at $5, then doubling as it goes up from there. That is a brilliant idea, and it is not complex at all. It is about as dead simple as you can imagine. So, if you want to double what you have, then you double your price, pay the money, and reboot. It is done. It's that simple. You can't beat that."
  • "One key difference is that pricing is very hard to come by and to understand with all the bigger companies. Their pricing models are so weird and it's hard to figure out exactly how much I am going to pay for this kind of service. Everything is piecemeal. With Linode, it's simple and straightforward. You know exactly what you will have to pay at the end of the day."
  • "Compared to other service providers, like AWS and Google, the cost of services are much less and more affordable. We are saving about 90 percent by going with Linode versus other cloud providers."
  • "The pricing model is very simple. If you have very small applications, you can use the plan which costs $5 per month. That gives you 50 GB of memory and almost 1 GB of RAM. If you need more than you have to select the next plan which is $10 per month, which has about 70 GB of data and 2 GB of RAM."
  • "The value for the price is really good."
  • "Pricing is very good and flexible, according to the resources required."
  • "Being that they are small, their prices are slightly higher than the large providers like Amazon if you compare raw computing power."
