We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We have not had to deal with stability issues.""We get the Security Intelligence Feeds refreshed every hour from Talos, which from my understanding is that they're the largest intelligence Security Intelligence Group outside of the government.""It is one of the fastest solutions, if not the fastest, in the security technology space. This gives us peace of mind knowing that as soon as a new attack comes online that we will be protected in short order. From that perspective, no one really comes close now to Firepower, which is hugely valuable to us from an upcoming new attack prevention perspective.""It's got the capabilities of amassing a lot of throughput with remote access and VPNs.""I like the firewall features, Snort, and the Intrusion Prevention System (IPS).""One of the most valuable features of Firepower 7.0 is the "live log" type feature called Unified Event Viewer. That view has been really good in helping me get to data faster, decreasing the amount of time it takes to find information, and allowing me to fix problems faster. I've found that to be incredibly valuable because it's a lot easier to get to some points of data now.""Being able to determine our active users vs inactive users has led us to increased productivity through visibility. Also, if an issue was happening with our throughput, then we wouldn't know without research. Now, notifications are more proactively happening.""The dashboard is the most important thing. It provides good visibility and makes management easy. Firepower also provides us with good application visibility and control."

"One of the valuable features of the solution is its flexibility and it performs great.""The solution is very user-friendly and easy to deal with.""The hardware is pretty stable. It's also a very good product performance-wise. Initially, it wasn't mature like a firewall and there were other leaders, but now they have included almost all the features of next-generation security. Basically, it's a good product to work with.""The product is easy to use.""One of the main features is that the hardware is extremely reliable.""It covers everything we need it to without looking to secondary solutions.""Cisco has always been a premium product. There's a lot of other entry-level solutions. This is more robust.""Cisco is head-and-shoulders above all of the competition when it comes to technical support."

"This is a capable appliance and the standard features work well for us.""The solution can scale well."

Cons
"The Firepower FTD code is missing some old ASA firewalls codes. It's a small thing. But Firepower software isn't missing things that are essential, anymore.""Report generation is an area that should be improved.""FirePOWER does a good job when it comes to providing us with visibility into threats, but I would like to see a more proactive stance to it.""The price and SD-WAN capabilities are the areas that need improvement.""One issue with Firepower Management Center is deployment time. It takes seven to 10 minutes and that's a long time for deployment. In that amount of time, management or someone else can ask me to change something or to provide permissions, but during that time, doing so is not possible. It's a drawback with Cisco. Other vendors, like Palo Alto or Fortinet do not have this deployment time issue.""One feature I would like to see, that Firepower doesn't have, is email security. Perhaps in the future, Cisco will integrate Cisco Umbrella with Firepower. I don't see why we should have to pay for two separate products when both could be integrated in one box.""There is limited data storage on the appliance itself. So, you need to ship it out elsewhere in order for you to store it. The only point of consideration is around that area, basically limited storage on the machine and appliance. Consider logging it elsewhere or pushing it out to a SIEM to get better controls and manipulation over the data to generate additional metrics and visibility.""I believe that the current feature set of the device is very good and the only thing that Cisco should work on is improving the user experience with the device."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Cons →

"I would love it if it has a link-by-link feature, integration with Unified Threat Management (UTM), and load balancers. They haven't got any link-by-link feature right now, which can be a very attractive option. This link-by-link feature can also be made available for Cisco's UTM firewalls. The link-by-link feature is available in some of the other firewalls. Currently, integration with UTM is missing. Cisco IOS Security also doesn't have the load balancers and a few things that need to be done to get a good UTM firewall. Normally, other firewalls have UTM. As a next-generation firewall, it's good, but as a UTM, it has to do some work.""There could be a bit more functions on offer that could make it easier to use.""Signatures and other critical definitions need to be updated more frequently.""The pricing is the only con for this product.""The configuration should be easier in the solution.""There are the usual bugs that are inherent to some software upgrades. Sometimes this provides some unexpected issues, however, it happens with all brands all the time.""The company needs to make its solution more affordable to make it more accessible to larger markets. Otherwise, it's seen as an enterprise-level solution that small or medium-sized organizations can't afford and therefore they won't even look at it.""I think they should bring back remote VPN for users."

More Cisco IOS Security Cons →

"Sometimes it reboots when you least expect it, and that's the main issue.""Although manageable, the user interface is a little bit slow and could be improved."
