Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"You can scale it easily.""The solution is agile and it has APIs for integration.""Cisco has a lot of published information and documentation that helps users understand the product and its offering very well.""Cisco CloudCenter's scalability is good.""I can define all components and create a blueprint for consumption across all services.""The initial setup is fairly straightforward if you have a basic setup.""The initial setup process is straightforward.""Upgrades are very simple as well because they've allowed us to get updates directly in the CloudCenter Suite manager. If you need to do an upgrade to your setup afterward, you just push a button and it rolls out the parts and retires the old ones. It's seamless and very simple compared to what we've done before."

"We use vRealize Operations Manager primarily for capacity management within our environment.""We went from using industry standard KPIs to going to a complete on-demand model based on the algorithms from vRealize Operations. It has enabled us to drive more utilization out of our existing compute infrastructure to the point where, for a period of six months, we didn't purchase a single server or any additional compute. We were able to continue to sweat our existing assets.""It allows me to see how my entire infrastructure is performing in a simplified manner.""Because of the recommendations in the product for configuration changes, bad legacy setups become visible using the tool, which is great.""It has improved our organization with respect to allowing us to size our environments correctly. We get metrics about what our stuff is actually using, how we can scope for future projects, where can we save some resources.""Some of the forecasting features give us a picture of, let's say, in six months I know that my storage will be full, or I'll be out of resources. It gives us a little bit of forecasting.""The value from vROps, from a traditional sense that we had, is the visibility into the back-end, to know when we are having issues with VMs before it actually becomes an end user issue.""The monitoring and verification functionalities were the most useful features."

Cons
"The tool should improve its security on the XDR part.""They should provide an entire cloud offering, from architecture to network security features.""Improvements are needed in UI and multi-tenancy for this solution.""They can add some of those features to make the platform more usable for different backgrounds and developer skills.""You don't get all the solution's benefits if you have older switches.""For many clients, the main problem with the solution is the price. Cisco is very expensive. If they could somehow make the pricing more competitive, that would be a big draw.""The improvement I would like to see is not one thing particular to CloudCenter. I'd say it's more of a message that the system is still using a lot of the different products and if they would all just fit better together, they all could be faster together.""The solution needs to be more simple."

More Cisco CloudCenter Cons →

"When we first bought it, our vision was to use role-based access, give application teams access to view a dashboard for their stuff. We found out that the vROps tool can't handle more than about 20 concurrent sessions... We have some 3000 applications.""I would like to go back in history on the performance data and blank out some of that performance data so that it isn't used in calculations.""It's complex to manage because there are a lot of options and metrics. It's complex when you want to do something very specific.""I would like to see improvements in managing within a single cluster - managing DRS a lot better as far as utilization of each host goes, within a single cluster. That would make it comparable to VMTurbo (Turbonomic). That has that feature where you can also manage it within a single cluster, move workloads around to balance out the hosts.""Security has been a boom for companies in the last few years, and considering how important security is, there have been a lot of tools that offer better integrations. So, the current tool can be used for any integrations in any environment, which is something VMware is not yet that efficient at.""I would like to see them add a little bit more functionality and the ability to create more dashboards.""Administration and growth can be improved.""They should include an integration feature through which we can connect to different vendors by installing a small plugin."

  • "The tool's pricing is expensive."
  • More Cisco CloudCenter Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Don't overallocate! This means that you don't have to buy many hosts. You can save money that way."
  • "The pricing: It's expensive."
  • "Pricing is good for us. We're non-profit so we get a break on that."
  • "I would like to see a free offering. Cost is always a factor in any sort of line. Obviously, the value added is there and it's worth it."
  • "We have seen ROI in performance. It used to be our company was giving out eight CPUs to all servers. That was bad performance-wise. People were seeing slow compute times for their applications."
  • "Pricing could always be cheaper, but it's acceptable."
  • "vRealize Operations has proved to be a cost effective solution for our big environment."
  • "As we continue to implement it across multiple environments, it reduces costs as well."
