Meets the needs of the customer but all of the features need improvement
I do not choose the solution. The client does. I am an implementer. We are systems integrators. It is worth mentioning that the solution should be easy to install and offer the user exhibition capabilities. Also, a data sheet should be used to gather information about the product, to facilitate easy and simple implementation. I rate CA Unified Communications Monitor as a five out of ten.

Real-time monitoring has improved our banking API performance and supports detailed business transaction analysis
The real-time monitoring is what we can see for anything that is needed in terms of CPU, memory, or the connections or the sessions related. It's real-time monitoring of performance of each of the components, which is what we need and use all the time. It's highly effective, I would say. Infrastructure visibility, transaction monitoring, to check the actual user experience in terms of the response time, MRT and all those things. We do the component monitoring like the API performance and the connections and all those things, but we also do the business process monitoring and business transaction monitoring.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We use the solution to meet the needs of the customer."
"For us, it's very key to know the voice quality of the total solution, which is based on many components across many domains."
"Good end-to-end monitoring"
"We use the solution to meet the needs of the customer."
"AppDynamics' best feature is automation - for example, when I add a note, it can understand the data automatically."
"The analytics are great."
"The features that I like best are the dashboard and Business Journey."
"All the metrics are baselines in networks, infrastructure, application, and user experience. AppDynamics offers its own query language. It is called ADQL. You can write code of any kind to do queries and analysis and you can use those within the reporting or within other research."
"It’s great that APM monitors in real-time, and when we have an issue, we find out fairly quickly if there's a problem with our hardware."
"I have seen a return on investment with Splunk AppDynamics, as we are investing more and more for Splunk AppDynamics because we have many tools and many applications in our organization."
"Everything that AppDynamics yields we use in some way."
"Splunk AppDynamics significantly aids us because as soon as we identify a problem, we immediately receive API call insights through the AI version currently in use, suggesting resolution pathways and options such as restarting the server or application."

Cons

"The solution should have automatic baseline detection."
"All the features and functions of the solution can be improved."
"All the features and functions of the solution can be improved, specifically the user experience."
"The solution should have automatic baseline detection."
"I would like to see more of a unified platform. They're very, very new on the server side, machine agents. I want them to be more mature in this area."
"Specific to our environment here, we use .NET and they have more features for the Java platform."
"AppDynamics should add more features to identify in case if there is some thread waiting for something."
"The synthetic scripting for end-user monitoring could be a little bit broader. Instead of using just Python, they can include a few other languages so that not everyone has to jump on the bandwagon for Python and do Selenium scripting. They can open up that a bit to make it simpler for people to do the scripting."
"One thing that can be improved is the license structure."
"Scalability is an issue. We are pushing the product to its limits on our current hardware allocation, so it's hard to fault the product for that."
"An area that has room for improvement on the CR and ERP would be the addition of monitoring of the internal solution. For example, you can monitor the day-to-day and everything in the transactions with AppDynamics, but there's also a lot going on in the kernel itself that you cannot monitor."
"One of the things that we would like to improve a little more is the dashboards. The dashboards are good, but I believe that they could improve even more."

"I would like more flexible pricing: A pay-per-use model, rather than just a fixed-price model."
"AppDynamics is really pricey as it requires licenses for every feature."
"AppDynamics Server Monitoring is an expensive solution."
"It is expensive. However, our time to recover has been reduced, and this product has helped recuperate costs and provided us with ROI."
