Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

The only thing that it does not include, which I would like to see in it, is the VPN. If VPN was included in Bitdefender Total Security, that would be a really valuable feature to add to the product. The VPN is handy, but to pay quite a lot more on top is costly. VPN is becoming a lot more commonplace and needed, and some competitors are now including it as part of their offering. I have no intention of moving away from Bitdefender Total Security, but I just think that could be quite a valuable addition to have as part of the product.

A cost-effective security solution for endpoint protection
The initial setup is complex. It is rare to see an effective endpoint protection system that does not require some effort. It is neither on the cloud nor on-premises. You deploy it on every endpoint or server, irrespective of perimeter. You must use a deployment tool unless you prefer to do it manually on every endpoint or server. We used an automation tool to deploy it. Since we had MSI with us. We had to verify that everything worked, but it didn't take more than two weeks for 1000 endpoints.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Its interface and pricing are most valuable, and it is better than other vendors in terms of security."
"It has absolutely improved the way our organization functions, we are more secure, it is giving us more peace of mind, and it has found malicious activity happening on our endpoints that probably would not have been detected if we didn't have it."
"The most valuable feature of Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is its machine-learning capabilities. Additionally, there is full integration with other solutions."
"The tool is easy to use."
"The most valuable for us is the correlation feature."
"We can visualize and control the activities in the environment from anywhere."
"They did what they said, and this solution could apply to any scenario."
"Cortex is the best tool for endpoint detection, and I have used it to verify hashes or domains to identify malicious activity, trigger playbooks that automate and gather endpoint logs, block malicious processes, and update incident tickets, showcasing end-to-end processes with automation in investigation and reducing the analysis workflow."
"The dashboard and granular control features are great."
"The product is stable"
"It enhances our cybersecurity measures, especially beneficial for entrepreneurs."
"I found Bitdefender Total Security easy to use. The interface is straightforward, and it runs silently in the background."
"It is quite stable. It handles updates and patches nicely."
"I value Bitdefender Total Security for its effectiveness in scanning even the latest threats, and protecting my system from potential malware."
"I highly recommend Bitdefender Total Security for other users; in independent tests, it has always performed the highest out of any of the endpoint solutions."
"Bitdefender Total Security offers a wide range of valuable features that enhance its usability and effectiveness."
"Nyotron protects your users and does not acquire any threat intelligence."
"First of all, it does the job. It prevents harm to the operating system. Also, the visibility it gives to the user and to the administrator is very good."
"This product really is the best solution for this security issue."

Cons

"They've been having some issues with updating their endpoint agents, and it has been quite frustrating."
"There is a severe gap in functionality between Windows, Linux, and Mac versions. For example all folder restriction settings are Windows only. Traps 5.0+ does not have SAML / LDAP integration."
"If they had pulse rate detection, it would be better."
"We had a problem with getting our older endpoints up to date, but their newest updates have been really good. I've been pleased with it in terms of what our needs are. It's doing what we want it to do."
"If Palo Alto reduces the pricing slightly for their products, it would make them more scalable in markets such as India and globally for cybersecurity."
"They have the worst support, as a company, that I have ever worked with, as they are difficult to get a hold of and keep on the phone. They don't know what they are talking about when you get them on the phone. They don't like to respond to messages when you send them to them. They like to "research problems" for weeks on end, then pass you off to somebody else."
"The installation should be easier and the Palo Alto pre-sales and sales teams should have more information on the product because they don't know what they are selling."
"The deployment is pretty hard."
"It would be beneficial if Bitdefender could enhance the speed of its updates for a more immediate response to emerging threats."
"Bitdefender Total Security should improve its resource usage. It should also work on cloud storage."
"I would like to see some flexibility in the ransomware limitations."
"Bitdefender Total Security must expand its global presence, particularly in establishing legal offices in various countries, including Saudi Arabia."
"The solution could improve the way they manage it."
"The only thing that it does not include, which I would like to see in it, is the VPN."
"If Bitdefender Total Security could reduce the processing power."
"Bitdefender Total Security needs to improve its security features."
"The solution should be available on Linux and other platforms, including mobile platforms such as Android and iOS."
"The main feature that is missing is to have the same solution on servers. Currently it's only protecting the client side, not the server. If they would add the server in the same solution, that would be great."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Every customer has to pay for a license because it doesn't work with what you get from a managed services provider."
"The return on investment is from the user side because we have seen the performance of it increase the delivery time of the product if we are using too many web-based and on-premise applications. In indirect ways, we saw the return of investment in terms of performance and user satisfaction increase."
"In terms of the cost Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is very expensive because we are a Mexican company and when you translate dollars to pesos the cost is very high. The solution is very expensive for Mexican companies. I understand that they have international prices, but I do not think it offsets the price enough for many companies in countries, such as Mexico. The amount it is reduced is not a massive percentage."
"It is present, but when compared to other competitive products, I would say it is not less expensive; however, when all of the other added values are considered, the price is reasonable."
"This is an expensive solution."
"Licensing for Palo Alto Networks Cortex XDR can be costly, especially when it comes to a hundred users. A license is required for each user, and the subscription must be renewed on a yearly basis."
"I don't recall what the cost was, but it wasn't really that expensive."
"I don't have any issues with the pricing. We are satisfied with the price."
"The pricing is quite reasonable. I don't find it expensive."
"The tool's pricing is high compared to other products."
"It falls in the middle range in terms of pricing—it's neither very cheap nor overly expensive."
"The product is not expensive."
