Centralized device management has automated onboarding and improves remote security compliance
One thing I feel Microsoft Intune could improve is troubleshooting visibility. In many cases, when a policy or application deployment fails, the error messages are a bit generic. So, admins still spend time checking logs manually or testing on devices one by one. Compared to the simplicity of deployment, troubleshooting sometimes feels less mature. I also think reporting and real-time monitoring could be stronger. The dashboard gives useful information, but in large environments, many teams still depend on additional tools or scripts for deeper reporting and analytics. If I had to focus on one area first, I would probably choose troubleshooting and reporting. Deployment through Microsoft Intune is generally straightforward, but when something fails, identifying the exact root cause can still take more time than expected. Error messages are sometimes too generic, and admins often have to dig through logs, sync status, or multiple portals to understand what actually happened. I think user experience and policy management could also improve further. Microsoft Intune has become much better over the years, but sometimes the admin portal still feels fragmented because certain configurations open in different sections or redirect to older interfaces. For new admins, especially, it can take time to understand where everything is located. Another thing is policy conflict handling. In larger organizations, multiple device policies, compliance rules, and configuration profiles can overlap. When conflicts happen, the visibility is not always very clear, so admins spend time figuring out which policy actually won or caused the issue.

End-to-end automation has simplified patching and software deployment across thousands of servers
There is one feature in BigFix called the automation patch policy that requires enhancement. When an action is initiated through the patch policy, it appears on the console but arrives in chunks. When targeting hundreds of servers from the patch policy, the actions come in chunks such as ten out of six, ten out of nine, or ten out of fifteen. This fragmented approach creates a significant challenge for the patching team to monitor the action status. I would recommend that the development team provide a single action or one to two actions instead of multiple actions requiring individual monitoring. A broad status update could be provided to the client indicating the overall progress of the patch policy implementation rather than requiring monitoring of every individual action. This would reduce the bandwidth required by the team to track multiple actions on the console.

Secure data handling has transformed how our team protects PII and simplifies compliance
There are some improvements that can happen. Enigma Vault is strong in security and compliance, but there are a few areas that can be improved. Better observability and monitoring would be helpful. There is limited deep insight into tokenization failure and API latency breakdown. It can be improved by detailed dashboards, logs, and alerts, which can help in faster debugging and production monitoring. Another area is lower latency for high-scale systems. Every request goes through the vault APIs, which adds latency. In our application we have 1 million users at the candidate side and around 100,000 at the enterprise side. We have latency issues which we need to consider. Lower latencies for higher scale systems would be beneficial. Improvements could be made through edge-caching for the token. AWS provides these kinds of services such as CloudFront, so we can use these to store the tokens in the caches. There could also be regional vault deployment, similar to what AWS does. The APIs are good, but the development SDK support can be expanded a little because better documentation and examples would be helpful, especially for newer clients who are getting onboarded. Developer experience can be improved, and observability is another area. As a developer, I will get the APIs and everything which is provided by Enigma Vault, but the documentation that they have is a little too overwhelming for a newer developer. They are not able to understand it easily. Documentation is one thing that can be improved if a developer wants to start working on it.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The Mobile Device Management in Intune is a valuable feature."
"If any user tries to access company data, it directly interacts with the conditional access policy. This helps us protect our data and set the criteria for how data can be accessed and shared."
"I would say that Microsoft Intune is absolutely the right choice for any organization that is already invested in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and wants a unified cloud-native endpoint management approach."
"We have not had any issues with the scalability."
"We are able to deliver applications fast to our mobile workloads so that users can make use of it instantly."
"Cloud-based device management is the best feature for me as it impacts my company the most; it is much easier than the previous Configuration Manager or SCCM."
"The solution is stable."
"I appreciate Intune's autopilot feature, which allows us to enroll devices and install applications to meet corporate requirements seamlessly."
"Using BigFix to report on our encryption stance has been extraordinarily impactful in terms of avoiding fines for HIPAA violations and in terms of lost and stolen devices."
"The most valuable and essential features of BigFix are all of them, they are needed when serving the purpose of the desktop operation framework. We cannot run operations without patching or without having an appropriate mechanism for deploying software, et cetera. The features all serve their purpose for our use case."
"We are able to use BigFix through API connections to automate and reduce resources and time. The product's been great for us. It's increased the security posture ten-fold and it's increased our visibility across our endpoints enormously."
"One of the biggest benefits BigFix has had for our organization is the ease and efficiency to perform many different tasks, across pillars and platforms, all from one pane of glass."
"It allows us to quickly deploy capabilities that we need, whether it be security or non-security. We use it to keep systems up to date, deploy new drivers, find the information we need in the case of security incidents. The capability allows us to gather a lot of information very quickly and it also allows us to have a centralized reporting feature and a centralized deployment capability which is nice."
"BigFix provides tremendous benefits to users and clients and provides a comprehensive view and broad features for users."
"Servers are patched more consistently than they have been previously."
"It covers multiple operating systems and helps with patch management."
"After using Enigma Vault, our security metrics have improved drastically, with exposure of sensitive data reduced by 90 to 95 percent at the application level, the number of systems handling raw PII reduced from multiple to zero, PCI audit scope reduced by 60 to 70 percent, audit preparation time reduced from weeks to a few days, and development speed improved by around 30 to 40 percent."
"Their support is great. They added my home language, Italian, in one hour and answered my questions almost immediately, even though I did not have a paid account."
"Enigma Vault has positively impacted our organization in several ways, especially in improving data security, compliance, and operational trust within Ericsson systems."

Cons

"While the ability to deploy applications at startup is reliable, the policy-based application deployment method has not reached the same level of consistency."
"Integration with Mac devices requires some improvement."
"Enrollment into the Microsoft Intune service can still get easier, especially for legacy-managed systems, such as how we get it from a GPO or an SCCM configuration into Intune."
"Policy and app deployment should be faster, as it currently takes between minutes to hours to apply, with an average of one hour."
"The most significant issue I encounter is troubleshooting when a policy is not applying or a device is showing non-compliant; the error messages can be pretty vague, which makes it necessary for me to dig around and piece things together myself."
"I have been trying to contact technical support but haven't been able to reach anyone."
"One big problem with Microsoft is that they're changing the names of the products quite often, or they're quite consistently doing so. Intune is now Endpoint administration. Constantly switching the user interface or the administrative interface makes it quite hard to keep pace. If you are on a two-week holiday and you come back and look at the same screen you have looked at for the last couple of months, it looks different, which is annoying. Changing things around all the time doesn't make it easy."
"There are some areas of improvement for Microsoft Intune, including faster policy sync so changes can apply quicker, a simpler interface, better reporting with more details and clear insight, improved troubleshooting, clearer error messages and logs, and stronger support for macOS and Linux, alongside better cross-platform features."
"The product should become cloud-based. Also, the peer nesting ability of the product is a little backward."
"They don't have a proper mobile device management capability."
"Sometimes there can be a delay reporting back to the server for a variety of reasons, such as users turning their computer off when they go home."
"In order to derive maximum benefit from BigFix, it is essential that we configure all of its features and implement them effectively. If the automation could be improved we would be able to mitigate the risks associated with zero-day threats."
"Sometimes, because there are different modules, we'd get bounced to different help desks."
"The relevant language takes a little getting used to since it's not used anywhere else in the industry. It's just in the BigFix environment."
"We would like to see more of the extended reporting feature."
"The console interface is not friendly, and requires training before using it in production."
"There are some improvements that can happen. Enigma Vault is strong in security and compliance, but there are a few areas that can be improved."
"Enigma Vault is a strong security platform within Ericsson, but there are always areas where it can be improved further."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Microsoft Intune is available for individual purchase at a low per-device cost."
"We spend a lot of money on Intune licensing, and some of our users have to be double licensed just because of how our dev and corporate environments are segmented."
"The clients pay for a license and each can have a different type of license, such as an E3 or E5."
"It is reasonable for the features it has."
"It is not a cheap solution. The price for a device when you start using it at a large scale can be improved. It is covered under our enterprise agreement. We pay once a year. I am not aware of any additional costs."
"Microsoft's licensing is more flexible and adaptive than its competitors."
"Its price is fair. It's a normal price. It isn't too expensive or too cheap."
"Microsoft Intune is not cost-effective as a standalone product."
"It is too costly. It is one of the best tools, but because of pricing, not all clients support it. Its licensing is on a yearly basis."
"When purchasing, buying with other IBM tools provided us with a very good discount in pricing."
"The price is very fair."
"The tool's price continues to go up. The cost per endpoint can vary, ranging from approximately 30 to 80 dollars per year. Compared to other products, pricing is in the middle. You need to buy an additional database license, but most users already have it."
"So, the pricing is slightly more expensive than the others. I have to keep buying licenses every time I add a new device."
"The price is reasonable, but our customers find it expensive."
"The price of BigFix is better than the solutions. You are able to pay monthly or annually. There are not any hidden costs with BigFix. There is an additional cost for the SQL database."
"The price of the solution is high. There are not any additional fees from the standard license."
