Centralized device management has transformed security and streamlined remote provisioning
One area where Microsoft Intune can improve is the user interface. Sometimes the portal feels a bit complex and not very intuitive, especially for new users, and it can take time to find specific settings. Another point is troubleshooting. While logs are available, the diagnostic policies and sync issues can still be time-consuming and not very straightforward. I also feel that reporting could be more detailed and customizable. The built-in reports are helpful, but for deeper insights, I often need to rely on additional tools. Overall, it is a strong solution, but improving usability and troubleshooting experience would make it even better. While Microsoft Intune works very well within the Microsoft ecosystem, the integration of some third-party tools could be smoother and require less customization. Support is another area that could improve, as sometimes response times can be slow, and resolving complex issues may take longer than expected. In terms of features, I think more advanced automation and built-in remediation options would be helpful since common issues can be fixed automatically without manual intervention.

Successfully manage endpoint security and compliance while facing integration challenges
I have not come across any difficulties. I integrated it with ILMT (IBM License Metric Tool). It lets us identify all software being used in my organization with BigFix. It provides input of all types of software being used, including details and information about hardware specifications. I am more involved in software licensing and procurement, so I utilize this tool for procuring more licenses if needed for our company. After integration, we get different dashboards showcasing our IBM infrastructure, highlighting various issues in our environment that we can mitigate. I recommend BigFix to others. I rate BigFix a seven out of ten.

Secure data handling has transformed how our team protects PII and simplifies compliance
There are some improvements that can happen. Enigma Vault is strong in security and compliance, but there are a few areas that can be improved. Better observability and monitoring would be helpful. There is limited deep insight into tokenization failure and API latency breakdown. It can be improved by detailed dashboards, logs, and alerts, which can help in faster debugging and production monitoring. Another area is lower latency for high-scale systems. Every request goes through the vault APIs, which adds latency. In our application we have 1 million users at the candidate side and around 100,000 at the enterprise side. We have latency issues which we need to consider. Lower latencies for higher scale systems would be beneficial. Improvements could be made through edge-caching for the token. AWS provides these kinds of services such as CloudFront, so we can use these to store the tokens in the caches. There could also be regional vault deployment, similar to what AWS does. The APIs are good, but the development SDK support can be expanded a little because better documentation and examples would be helpful, especially for newer clients who are getting onboarded. Developer experience can be improved, and observability is another area. As a developer, I will get the APIs and everything which is provided by Enigma Vault, but the documentation that they have is a little too overwhelming for a newer developer. They are not able to understand it easily. Documentation is one thing that can be improved if a developer wants to start working on it.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have seen a clear ROI with Microsoft Intune; time saved has reduced device setup from three to five hours to thirty minutes, and there is a workload reduction of around twenty to thirty percent less manual effort from the IT team."
"Microsoft Intune is far more efficient and faster than MECM."
"I haven't used other mobile device management solutions, but compared to SCCM, we eliminate a lot of on-premises infrastructure and maintenance by using Intune."
"The compliance and configuration policies in Microsoft Intune are the most valuable features, saving significant time compared to manual implementation."
"With Microsoft Intune, we set up the device within 20 to 30 minutes, reducing the provisioning time by 70 to 80%, and it has also reduced the IT workload by 40 to 60%."
"The security-related tools are excellent; these features allow us to secure devices, lock them down, and ensure compliance."
"Overall, my user experience with Microsoft Intune has been great."
"Remote control is the feature I like the most, as I can take control of devices so that we can work hands-on and create access with access restrictions."
"BigFix can manage lost devices, so you can wipe them remotely to ensure the IP doesn't get out in public. Unified endpoint security is a new perspective. I know that HCL is also collaborating with IBM, but I'm not sure if there is any cooperation between them and MaaS360 or other endpoint components."
"For our clients, what was normally a full 30 days of work is now down to a couple of days to get the data in and actually get out and patch the thing."
"The architecture for patching and the 100% correct reporting makes BigFix stand apart from other solutions."
"It's very straightforward."
"It enables us to patch our systems quickly and within expectations and to increase our volume as needed."
"We receive the patches automatically, and BigFix spreads them automatically to our endpoints."
"BigFix is a great product; the flexibility of putting together your own relevance and retrieving custom data from any one of your agents is a valuable feature."
"BigFix tremendously reduced the amount of work that we had to do on each server in a centralized manner, reduced help desk calls by 60-70%, empowered users with a self-service portal to fix their own problems, and helped us avoid compliance fines in the tens of thousands of dollars by enabling accurate software audits and license verification."
"Their support is great; they added my home language, Italian, in one hour and answered my questions almost immediately, even though I did not have a paid account."
"After using Enigma Vault, our security metrics have improved drastically, with exposure of sensitive data reduced by 90 to 95 percent at the application level, the number of systems handling raw PII reduced from multiple to zero, PCI audit scope reduced by 60 to 70 percent, audit preparation time reduced from weeks to a few days, and development speed improved by around 30 to 40 percent."
"Their support is great. They added my home language, Italian, in one hour and answered my questions almost immediately, even though I did not have a paid account."

Cons

"The interface is not as modern as some competitors in terms of single pane of glass visibility across the entire landscape. It has a very Azure vibe and may not be as graphically appealing as other products."
"The reports that are generated aren't so great. They don't give a lot of meaning so far, but that could be down to user knowledge than the actual reporting side of things. I'm not a big user of it, but I was a bigger user of MaaS360, and we used to be able to run weekly and monthly reports. In the case of any deviations. we'd get a warning immediately. That's not so easy to do or to get in place for Intune. This could be just a user issue, but when I compare both, that's the only thing that's lacking for me."
"The solution can have some compliance problems in general and the end-point user can bypass easily the company policies in Intune."
"There are a few security features that are not available in Microsoft Intune, when compared to other products."
"Historically, Group Policy has simplified the management of various items, such as printer and drive mappings and while Intune offers workarounds, it lacks native support for these functionalities."
"Better reporting capabilities, stronger Mac OS management, faster policy synchronization, and easier troubleshooting are needed."
"I rate Microsoft support between six to eight. The support often involves third parties hired by Microsoft who are knowledgeable, but sometimes the help I receive is not adequate."
"There are differences in protecting the data on a mobile device and on iOS. When you protect the data on iOS, you protect the entire device."
"The reporting structure could be a little more simplistic. Currently, it throws too many vulnerabilities. Some of them are not needed because they are only informational and limitations, and they are not of much help. It doesn't need to show us these things."
"IBM has not focused on the Web Reports capabilities."
"Be careful. It's a super powerful tool. It can be unforgiving, i.e., if you do some of the things wrong, it can be a nightmare."
"A large infrastructure is required to implement BigFix for a medium-sized organization."
"The product lacks AI, ML, and IIT."
"I would like to see SDK for Web UI included in the next release."
"The support of other 3rd party systems could be better."
"There is no support for patch management on SLES on IBM pSeries (only the Intel platform is supported)."
"There are some improvements that can happen. Enigma Vault is strong in security and compliance, but there are a few areas that can be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Any bundle package, such as Security E3, covers multiple things, such as AAP, BitLocker, etc. If you go for them individually, they would be more expensive. Bundling makes the price more attractive and competitive."
"Even if they charge a premium, they aim to provide equal value."
"It's affordable for the protection it gives. There are no additional costs."
"Intune is linked with Microsoft. We can deploy the Microsoft E365 license to users by Intune. There are different types of licenses, such as device administrator licenses, E5 licenses for device enrollment manually, and P1 and p2 licenses for device enrollment automatically. These are the licenses required for the administration."
"No one can compete with Microsoft when it comes to price, and the features it is offering."
"Cost is not my department, but the product is included in the E5 license that we already pay for every user, so no additional cost is incurred."
"The pricing is inherently reasonable, as Microsoft leverages market insights to maintain the total cost of ownership at around ninety to ninety-five percent of what would be incurred in an on-premise scenario."
"It's a bit expensive from a licensing perspective, especially as we look to have organizations with tenants across the globe."
"The price is very fair."
"I would stay with the Managed Virtual Server license model, which is a 1-to-1 license per OS whether it is virtual or physical."
"When purchasing, buying with other IBM tools provided us with a very good discount in pricing."
"Compliance, inventory, and licensing are really pricey. They should lower the price. It discourages users from getting onboard."
"So, the pricing is slightly more expensive than the others. I have to keep buying licenses every time I add a new device."
"The tool's price continues to go up. The cost per endpoint can vary, ranging from approximately 30 to 80 dollars per year. Compared to other products, pricing is in the middle. You need to buy an additional database license, but most users already have it."
"You get what we call the Platform Edition, which you get for free. The patch service is maybe $0.50 per workstation per month. Then there's the basic server cost, which is about $1.50 per server per month. You also get into Lifecycle which does power management, OSD remote control, and those types of things, and that might be about 10 times the price - which works out to about $13 per server and, maybe $5 per workstation per month."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is expensive and ten is cheap, I rate the solution's pricing one out of ten."
