We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
"The solution is quite good at handling analytics. It's done a good job at helping us centralize them.""The most important advantage in using AWS Lake Formation is its ability to connect the data lake to the other technologies in AWS. This is what I advise my clients."

"The useability, the user interface, is very user-friendly.""The features most valuable are the simplicity, how easy it is to create a dashboard from different information systems.""The solution has been working well overall.""One central workspace to manage everything for your data warehouse including visualization.""The stability is pretty good.""One of the most valuable features of this solution is its ability to integrate well with other services offered by Azure.""Technical support is okay in terms of the help they provide.""Synapse Analytics' best feature is its ability to process large files."

More Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics Pros →

"In our experience what could be improved are not the support, performance or monitoring, but at a managerial level, the very expensive professional services of AWS. This could be an area of improvement for them. It's too expensive to acquire their support.""For the end-users, it's not as user-friendly as it could be."

More AWS Lake Formation Cons →

"Integration with other products is an area that can be improved.""The macro functions, though useful, are not totally user-friendly. Some people have difficulties in learning them.""I am a researcher. For people to be able to research a solution, there should be at least a free trial. Just advertising a product or saying that this product is better doesn't work. I would strongly recommend providing a lot of free trials and trainings. This will also help Microsoft in having more users or customers. Oracle provides some free trials. You can just go for a free trial and use your database online, which is very good.""I am pretty sure that there are areas that need improvement but I just can think of them off the top of my head.""They should provide a less expensive version with a smaller setup for small businesses. Currently, its price is quite high for entry-level or small businesses. In terms of integration, new connectors are always welcomed.""An area for improvement in Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics is its user interface. You can use it for analytical purposes, but its platform should be a little bit more user-friendly. Another small point for improvement in Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics is its stability. It's good currently, but it could still be improved. Microsoft is combining different tools and technologies into one solution, so in the future, I'm expecting to see even more improvement in Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics. An additional feature I'd like to see in the next version of Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics is the drag-and-drop feature. If you're doing some integrations where you can write Scala or you have SPARK programming or SQL, or you're combining different programming, the process should be seamless, and you should be able to drag and drop in Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics. When doing reporting in the solution, you should also be able to drag and drop. There should be connectors available and a drag-and-drop feature available in the user interface of Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics, so you won't have to worry about how all processes would work together. You need to be able to drag and drop even from the backend, and having this feature will make the solution more user-friendly.""Scaling this solution up and down is not quick and easy. This could be improved. The pricing of this solution could also be improved.""Synapse Analytics needs to develop an automation framework because now you have to build a cache yourself. You have to build a pipeline in WhereScape, which does end-to-end pipeline automation well. Microsoft should come up with a framework to save people time. If they developed a tool like WhereScape, it would dramatically reduce development time."

Pricing and Cost Advice
Information Not Available
  • "Its price could be better. It was a school project, and I got it for free. If I try to pay through my company, it is a little bit more expensive as compared to Oracle."
  • "The price of the package not expensive and depends on how much it is used."
  • "The cost of the licensing depends on the size of the warehouse, where the cost of storage is approximately $130 USD per terabyte."
  • "This is a cost-effective product."
  • "Because it's cloud the cost is a different convention and the licensing costs are not the same."
  • "It's very difficult to price unless you know exactly how the customer is using it."
  • "We normally pay between $300 and $500 per month, which is quite expensive for how much we actually use it, performance- and usage-wise. They have a cheap version and an expensive version, and our usage usually falls in the middle ground, which makes it not as cost-effective as it could be."
  • "The solution is subscription-based. You can also pay to use the product as you go."
