Tells us about vulnerabilities as well as their impact and helps to focus on real issues
Looking at all the different pieces, it has got everything we need. Some of the pieces we do not even use. For example, we do not have Kubernetes Security. We are not running any K8 clusters, so it is good for us. Overall, we find the solution to be fantastic. There can be additional education components. This may not be truly fair to them because of what the product is going for, but it would be great to see additional education for compliance. It is not a criticism of the tool per se, but anything to help non-development resources understand some of the complexities of the cloud is always appreciated. Any additional educational resources are always helpful for security teams, especially those without a development background.

Comprehensive threat detection simplifies security management
GuardDuty is limited to AWS environments. While incorporating Amazon Detective for detailed investigation can be useful, including more granular details in findings, such as specific user actions or historical comparisons, would be beneficial. Furthermore, managing global AWS environments requires setting up additional tools for viewing GuardDuty findings across multiple regions. A unified dashboard that aggregates findings across all regions without requiring manual aggregation could enhance convenience for users.

Helps efficiently in incident response management and has an easy setup process
I can view the alarms within the platform and subsequently implement various security measures in response. It assists with incident response by providing alerts and visual representations of different security events. However, the effectiveness can vary, and sometimes more effort is required for resolution. DDoS attacks, including detection of DTO POS and identification of malicious IPs, are critical aspects of security to ensure the availability and performance of your systems. The real-time monitoring feature provides enough services to meet the requirements of our security infrastructure. I rate Redware Cloud Native Protector a ten out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security is on top of protecting ephemeral workloads."
"SentinelOne stands out with its responsiveness to feature requests for Singularity Cloud Security."
"I rate SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security ten out of ten."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to gain deep visibility into the workloads inside containers."
"Cloud Native Security helps us discover vulnerabilities in a cloud environment like open ports that allow people to attack our environment. If someone unintentionally opens a port, we are exposed. Cloud Native Security alerts us so we can remediate the problem. We can also automate it so that Cloud Native Security will fix it."
"The solution saves 40% of my time."
"The real-time detection and response capabilities overall are great."
"We like SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security's vulnerability assessment and management features, and its vulnerability databases."
"With anomaly detection, active threat monitoring, and set correlation, GuardDuty alerts me to any unusual user behavior or traffic patterns right away, which is great for staying on top of potential security risks."
"We have over 1,000 employees, and we monitor their activity through AWS GuardDuty."
"It is a highly scalable solution since it is a service by AWS. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"The solution provides AWS GuardDuty S3 protection, EKS runtime protection, and malware protection."
"What we found most valuable in Amazon GuardDuty is its threat detection feature, especially because we were monitoring a huge number of AWS accounts, so we needed a solution that would monitor for any kind of malicious activity. The monitoring aspect of the solution was great because it gave us timely notifications if and when anything happened, and Amazon GuardDuty helped keep us on our toes to make sure we took action right away."
"AWS GuardDuty is a great solution; I appreciate it because it's native for the Cloud provider, and I don't need to acquire other tools from another vendor."
"It kinda just gives us another layer of security. So it does provide some sort of comfort that we do have something that is monitoring for abnormal behavior."
"GuardDuty is extensive in terms of configuration and security compliance."
"The initial setup process is easy and intuitive."
"It helps us in reaching the ISO27001 certification."

Cons

"We had a glitch in SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security where it fed us false positives in the past."
"We can customize security policies but lack auditing capabilities."
"The area of improvement is the cost, which is high compared to other traditional endpoint protections."
"The main area for improvement I want to see is for the platform to become less resource-intensive. Right now, it can slow down processes on the machine, and it would be a massive improvement if it were more lightweight than it currently is."
"SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security is an excellent CSPM tool, but the CWPP features need to improve, and there is a scope for more application security posture management features. There aren't many ASPM solutions on the market, and existing ones are costly. I would like to see SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security develop into a single pane of glass for ASPM, CSPM, and CWPP. Another feature I'd like to see is runtime protection."
"In addition to the console alerts, I would like SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security to also send email notifications."
"The Kubernetes scanning on the Oracle Cloud needs to be improved. It's on the roadmap. AWS has this capability, but it's unavailable for Oracle Cloud."
"The recommended actions aren't always specific, so it might suggest recommendations that don't apply to the particular infrastructure code I'm reviewing."
"The product needs to improve its cost-efficiency since it is expensive."
"In future updates of AWS GuardDuty, I would suggest implementing better UI features."
"I work in a bank, and it would be good if AWS GuardDuty could be integrated with other monitoring and detection tools we use."
"We currently find Lacework to be much better at detecting vulnerabilities than AWS GuardDuty. The engines of AWS GuardDuty have to be improved."
"One improvement I would suggest for AWS GuardDuty is the ability to assign findings to specific users or groups, facilitating better communication and follow-up actions."
"I would like to see more integration with other AWS provided services."
"It would be great if the solution had some automation capabilities."
"AWS GuardDuty needs to be more customer-oriented."
"The platform’s interface needs enhancement."
"The solution needs automatic testing."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"SentinelOne provided competitive pricing compared to other vendors, and we are satisfied with the deal."
"It is cost-effective compared to other solutions in the market."
"PingSafe is priced reasonably for our workload."
"PingSafe's primary advantage is its ability to consolidate multiple tools into a single user interface, but, beyond this convenience, it may not offer significant additional benefits to justify its price."
"PingSafe's pricing is good because it provides us with a solution."
"I am personally not taking care of the pricing part, but when we moved from CrowdStrike to PingSafe, there were some savings. The price of CrowdStrike was quite high. Compared to that, the price of PingSafe was low. PingSafe is charging based on the subscription model. If I want to add an AWS subscription, I need to pay more. It should not be based on subscription. It should be based on the number of servers that I am scanning."
"It was reasonable pricing for me."
"Its pricing was a little less than other providers."
"We use a pay-as-you-use license, which is competitively priced in the market."
"GuardDuty only enables accounts in regions where you have an active workload. If there are places where you don't have an active workload, you wouldn't even enable them. That's one area where they could allow you to cut down your cost."
"It can get very expensive. If you turn on every feature, it can turn into hundreds of thousands of dollars."
"I prefer to have something on demand for myself. That's why I haven't been paying for GuardDuty specifically. AWS provides a wide range of offerings, especially in the security area."
"In terms of the costs associated with Amazon GuardDuty, it was $1 per GB from what I recall. Pricing was based on per gigabyte. For example, for the first five hundred gigabytes per month, it'll be $1 per GB, so it'll be $500. If your usage was greater, there's another bracket, for example, the next two thousand GB, then there's an add-on cost of 50 cents per GB. That's how Amazon GuardDuty pricing slowly goes up. I can't remember if there was any kind of additional cost apart from standard licensing for the solution. Nothing else that at least comes to mind. What the service was charging was worth it. That was one good thing when using Amazon GuardDuty because my company could be in a certain tier for a certain period. My company wasn't under a licensing model where it could overestimate its usage and under-utilize its usage and pay much more. This was what made the pricing model for Amazon GuardDuty better."
"80 percent of the customers are using AWS GuardDuty, and we recommend it due to its low cost, especially for small customers, ranging from five to ten dollars a month. In our policies, we enforce the usage of this service, making it a recommended practice for security."
"I don't have all the details in terms of licensing for Amazon GuardDuty, but my organization does have a license set up for it."
"The tool has no subscription charges."
