Tells us about vulnerabilities as well as their impact and helps to focus on real issues
Looking at all the different pieces, it has got everything we need. Some of the pieces we do not even use. For example, we do not have Kubernetes Security. We are not running any K8 clusters, so it is good for us. Overall, we find the solution to be fantastic. There can be additional education components. This may not be truly fair to them because of what the product is going for, but it would be great to see additional education for compliance. It is not a criticism of the tool per se, but anything to help non-development resources understand some of the complexities of the cloud is always appreciated. Any additional educational resources are always helpful for security teams, especially those without a development background.

Comprehensive threat detection simplifies security management
GuardDuty is limited to AWS environments. While incorporating Amazon Detective for detailed investigation can be useful, including more granular details in findings, such as specific user actions or historical comparisons, would be beneficial. Furthermore, managing global AWS environments requires setting up additional tools for viewing GuardDuty findings across multiple regions. A unified dashboard that aggregates findings across all regions without requiring manual aggregation could enhance convenience for users.

Helps efficiently in incident response management and has an easy setup process
I can view the alarms within the platform and subsequently implement various security measures in response. It assists with incident response by providing alerts and visual representations of different security events. However, the effectiveness can vary, and sometimes more effort is required for resolution. DDoS attacks, including detection of DTO POS and identification of malicious IPs, are critical aspects of security to ensure the availability and performance of your systems. The real-time monitoring feature provides enough services to meet the requirements of our security infrastructure. I rate Redware Cloud Native Protector a ten out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's helped free up staff time so that they can work on other projects."
"The visibility is the best part of the solution."
"We mostly use alerts. That has been pretty good. If we use the alert system from Amazon, it is much costlier to us, so we use SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security."
"The SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security has substantially affected my risk posture, as it was the first tool that notified me of the public exposure of a repository by a developer, allowing me to resolve the issue within minutes."
"The real-time detection and response capabilities overall are great."
"The most valuable features of SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security are the asset inventory and issue indexing."
"It's positively affected the communication between cloud security, application developers, and AppSec teams."
"It has a user-friendly dashboard that I can access without any difficulty."
"It kinda just gives us another layer of security. So it does provide some sort of comfort that we do have something that is monitoring for abnormal behavior."
"The way it monitors accounts is definitely a very important feature."
"With anomaly detection, active threat monitoring, and set correlation, GuardDuty alerts me to any unusual user behavior or traffic patterns right away, which is great for staying on top of potential security risks."
"GuardDuty is extensive in terms of configuration and security compliance."
"GuardDuty's comprehensive threat detection does not only monitor data - it also detects a wide range of security threats."
"The solution is easy to use."
"The solution provides AWS GuardDuty S3 protection, EKS runtime protection, and malware protection."
"AWS GuardDuty is a great solution; I appreciate it because it's native for the Cloud provider, and I don't need to acquire other tools from another vendor."
"It helps us in reaching the ISO27001 certification."
"The initial setup process is easy and intuitive."

Cons

"A beneficial improvement for SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security would be integration with Jira, allowing for a more streamlined ticketing system."
"With Cloud Native Security, we can't selectively enable or disable alerts based on our specific use case."
"They can work on policies based on different compliance standards."
"There's an array of upcoming versions with numerous features to be incorporated into the roadmap. Customers particularly appreciate the service's emphasis on intensive security, especially the secret scanning aspect. During the proof of concept (POC) phase, the system is required to gather logs from the customer's environment. This process entails obtaining specific permissions, especially in terms of gateway access. While most permissions for POC are manageable, the need for various permissions may need improvement, especially in the context of security."
"There is no break-glass account feature. They should implement this as soon as possible because we can't implement SSO without a break-glass feature."
"In addition to our telecom and Slack channels, it would be helpful to receive Cloud Native Security security notifications in Microsoft Teams."
"The resolution suggestions could be better, and the compliance features could be more customizable for Indian regulations. Overall, the compliance aspects are good. It gives us a comprehensive list, and its feedback is enough to bring us into compliance with regulations, but it doesn't give us the specific objects."
"SentinelOne Singularity Cloud Security has limited legacy system support and may not fully support older operating systems or legacy environments."
"The solution has to be integrated with new services that AWS adds like QuickSight, Managed Airflow, AppFlow and MWAA."
"The solution's user interface could be improved because it will help users to understand multiple options."
"It is evolving, and at the moment, I will just need it on a larger scale. Then, it will satisfy my demand, initially."
"I work in a bank, and it would be good if AWS GuardDuty could be integrated with other monitoring and detection tools we use."
"Amazon GuardDuty could be better enriched in threat intelligence data."
"Some of the pain points in Amazon GuardDuty was the cost. When compared to some of the other services, depending on how many we had to monitor, if we had a huge range of accounts, as our accounts increased, we had a cost factor that came into play. Sometimes there were issues, for example, with findings that came up, we wanted to add notes and there were issues back then where notes couldn't be entered properly. If we wanted to leave a note such as "Okay, we have assessed this and this is how we feel", or "This is a false positive", Amazon GuardDuty wasn't allowing us to do that. Even with the suppression of certain findings, there was some issue that we had faced at one time. Those were some of the pain points of the solution."
"The product needs to improve its cost-efficiency since it is expensive."
"For me, I would say just the presentation of findings, like the dashboards and other stuff, could be improved a bit."
"The platform’s interface needs enhancement."
"The solution needs automatic testing."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is somewhat high compared to other market tools."
"SentinelOne is relatively cheap. If ten is the most expensive, I would rate it a seven."
"It is a little expensive. I would rate it a four out of ten for pricing."
"SentinelOne offers excellent pricing and licensing options."
"PingSafe is priced reasonably for our workload."
"Singularity Cloud Workload Security's pricing is good."
"SentinelOne provided competitive pricing compared to other vendors, and we are satisfied with the deal."
"It is cost-effective compared to other solutions in the market."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is a high price, and ten is a low price, I rate the pricing a four or five, which is somewhere in the middle."
"The pricing model is pay as you go and is based on the number of events per month."
"We use a pay-as-you-use license, which is competitively priced in the market."
"I prefer to have something on demand for myself. That's why I haven't been paying for GuardDuty specifically. AWS provides a wide range of offerings, especially in the security area."
"GuardDuty only enables accounts in regions where you have an active workload. If there are places where you don't have an active workload, you wouldn't even enable them. That's one area where they could allow you to cut down your cost."
"The tool's licensing model is pay-as-you-go."
"It can get very expensive. If you turn on every feature, it can turn into hundreds of thousands of dollars."
"80 percent of the customers are using AWS GuardDuty, and we recommend it due to its low cost, especially for small customers, ranging from five to ten dollars a month. In our policies, we enforce the usage of this service, making it a recommended practice for security."
