Gained multi-cloud cost visibility and have optimized spend with detailed reports and rightsizing
The IAM feature is something that we struggle with using. IBM, the company that runs Cloudability, released the Groups feature back in the summer of 2025. While Groups can be used in some parts of the tool, it can't be used across the entire tool. I've found that Groups is basically unusable because if it can't be used everywhere, you would have to run both group-based access control and direct user-based access control at the same time, which doesn't make any sense. The Groups feature has improved over time, but it's still not something we feel we can use on an everyday basis, so the IAM section remains an issue right now. Most of the tool is very well-functioning and developed, and that's the only real improvement area that we've seen.

Multi-cloud costs have become transparent and teams gain persona-based insights to optimize spend
CloudZero is a multi-cloud cost management solution for enterprise organizations who want to view their cloud spend in a single dashboard with appropriate information and identify cost anomalies in a faster manner. The best features CloudZero offers include persona-based dashboards, meaningful data insights to optimize cloud spend, and telemetry data and integrations with other cloud platforms, along with email-based proactive cost anomaly alerts. CloudZero offers a single pane of dashboard to understand cloud cost visibility for a multi-cloud infrastructure, and we were able to drill down into unit economics to understand the unit level cost in each cloud platform. The governance and security are excellent, allowing us to create and assign permissions based on each persona, so the security features are outstanding. The accuracy and reliability are excellent by using CloudZero AI features, and we were able to get more meaningful data insights for optimizing cloud spend. The features are excellent and we were able to add the AI feature in CloudZero to get more valuable cost optimization insights. Using CloudZero dashboards, every team is able to understand their cloud spend by cloud platform and it helps to detect cost anomalies before there is a cloud cost spike.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It justifies the cost and is worth it, and we loved the experience of purchasing this solution through AWS Marketplace as it is very intuitive and cost-efficient."
"Our clients are now able to get a better insight into their AWS accounts."
"We have probably easily saved around $400,000 USD a year."
"If you are looking for a seamless, simple to use, and in-depth cloud billing analysis tool, Cloudability serves all these purposes."
"It provides us visibility, then we can turn around and can give the leadership team more information, which we could not previously give them."
"The sizing recommendation will look, and say, "You are only using this at 80%," then recommend a better fit for you."
"Each user can have their own dashboard that they want to consume. Instead of having to share one dashboard for multiple users, you can create individual views for each user to view, and that view will contain only their own accounts, which allows for separation of data."
"The most crucial feature in reducing my cloud costs has been the rightsizing recommendations, along with the dashboards that track reserved instance spending coverage and utilization. As for Cloudability's integration with our existing cloud infrastructure, it's not integrated directly into our AWS infrastructure but rather reads and pulls data from it, providing valuable insights and analysis for cost management."
"CloudZero is a great solution for an enterprise organization looking for a third-party cloud cost management solution, and it provides meaningful data insights for optimizing multi-cloud costs."
"CloudZero is a great tool; I have definitely enjoyed using it and have seen business benefits from it, so I am very happy with the tool."
"CloudZero has delivered practical benefits to my organization including faster cost investigation, better architecture decisions, easier executive communication, improved resource governance, and reduced manual analysis."
"The best part of CloudZero is the UI for creating dashboards."
"CloudZero's best feature is the dashboarding capabilities."

Cons

"The API is not well-documented. It is not straightforward and difficult to use. This needs to be improved, as it is very difficult for our developers to develop automation around it."
"More documentation with more use case scenarios would be nice."
"The dashboard needs to include more graphs per team to show what individual teams are spending in a given time period."
"My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing was adequate, but it could be made better."
"Right now, what we're doing is we are manually putting the data in it, which is something which we don't like about Cloudability."
"I wish there was a feature to temporarily remove certain recommendations from the list for teams that couldn't implement them immediately. I believe Cloudability could improve its automation functionality and enhance cost allocation modeling."
"The technical support is terrible. You can't pick up the phone and talk to somebody."
"In general, I feel Cloudability wasn't able to support many resources."
"I would not recommend it to small setups."
"I chose a rating of seven because I'm looking for CloudZero to focus more on the optimization side and Kubernetes clustering."
"We were applying various filters that they did not support."
"CloudZero can be improved by ingesting more AI features for analyzing the database platform as a service, and we need more AI-related features in CloudZero."
"In terms of improvements for CloudZero, I felt there could be potential improvements in their budget section."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We have seen ROI with the reserved instances, and having the ability to predict what reserved instances you can get. We can save tens of thousands of dollars, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in some cases."
"My team is one of the most expensive teams, and we look at it quite a bit. We have probably easily saved around $400,000 USD a year."
"Cloudability is a bit expensive."
"The price of the license or the usage is a percentage of the top consumption. So it varies from year to year."
"It justifies the cost and is worth it."
