Alteryx users report high ROI and efficiency improvements within months, with faster workflows and cost savings over alternatives.
Sentiment score
7.9
Microsoft Power BI is cost-effective, user-friendly, and efficient, enhancing BI capabilities and saving time and money.
Sentiment score
5.9
Pentaho Business Analytics enhanced efficiency and output but faced ROI calculation challenges compared to alternatives like QlikView and Tableau.
Alteryx helps familiarize managers with artificial intelligence-driven possibilities.
In a world surrounded by data, tools that allow navigation of large data volumes ensure decisions are data-driven.
Power BI is easy to deploy within an hour, providing robust security against data leaks.

Customer Service

Sentiment score
7.3
Alteryx offers responsive customer service and valuable community support, though some users note longer response times and premium service pushes.
Sentiment score
6.7
Microsoft Power BI customer service is responsive and effective, but users frequently rely on forums for quicker solutions.
Sentiment score
6.8
Pentaho receives mixed feedback on support, with strong community engagement but varying customer service and documentation quality.
I contacted customer support once or twice, and they were quick to respond.
The customer service was not good because we weren't premium support users.
Customer support is good since I've had no issues and can easily contact representatives who respond promptly.
The significant drawback I notice is that Microsoft's size makes it hard to get specific change requests addressed unless they involve a bug.
We have a partnership with Microsoft, involving multiple weekly calls with dedicated personnel to ensure our satisfaction.
The support is good because there is also a community available.

Scalability Issues

Sentiment score
7.2
Alteryx is praised for smooth scalability, efficient data management, integration flexibility despite noted high scaling costs by some.
Sentiment score
7.0
Microsoft Power BI is scalable, integrates well with Azure, but faces challenges with large datasets and concurrent users.
Sentiment score
7.2
Pentaho scales well and fits organizational needs but may require admin expertise for complex environments and large data.
Alteryx is scalable, and I would give it eight out of ten.
You expect only a small percentage of users concurrently, but beyond a thousand concurrent users, it becomes difficult to manage.
With increasing AI capabilities, architectural developments within Microsoft, and tools like Fabric, I expect Power BI to scale accordingly.
As more data is processed, performance issues may arise.

Stability Issues

Sentiment score
7.9
Alteryx is praised for stability and speed with minor issues, excelling in data processing over competitors but needing cloud improvements.
Sentiment score
7.5
Microsoft Power BI is stable and reliable, excelling with smaller datasets but may need resources for larger ones.
Sentiment score
6.6
Pentaho Business Analytics is generally stable but has occasional Java caching, RAM, and subprocess issues with large databases.
I didn't need to reach out to Alteryx for support because available documents usually provide enough information to resolve issues.
I have not encountered any lagging, crashing, or instability in the system during these three months of usage.
In terms of stability, there's no data loss or leakage, and precautions are well-managed by Microsoft.
We typically do not have problems with end-user tools like Excel and Power BI.
It is very stable for small data, but with big data, there are performance challenges.
It can handle large datasets.

Room For Improvement

Alteryx should enhance visualization, integration, pricing, and support to improve accessibility and usability for non-technical users.
Microsoft Power BI faces criticism for Windows dependency, interface complexity, limited features, and challenges in integration and pricing.
Pentaho needs user interface, reporting, and visualization enhancements, along with better debugging, metadata management, and cost-effective licensing.
The tool could include more native connectors, such as for global ERPs, instead of requiring additional fees for these connections.
The support structure changed; initially, we received great support, however, it later became less reliable due to licensing issues and a tiered support system.
It would be beneficial if Alteryx could lower its price or introduce a loyalty program for individual consultants and freelancers like me.
This makes Power BI difficult to manage as loading times can reach one or two minutes, which is problematic today.
Access was more logical in how it distinguished between data and its formatting.
Microsoft updates Power BI monthly based on user community feedback.
Pentaho Business Analytics is hard to learn and not suited for initial users as it requires knowledge of operating systems, Java, and other technical skills.

Setup Cost

Alteryx's high pricing, ranging from $5,000 to $80,000 annually, offers discounts for multi-year subscriptions and justifiable ROI for larger firms.
Microsoft Power BI provides cost-effective pricing options, with plans ranging from free to $4,995 monthly, competing with Tableau and Cognos.
Pentaho's Community Edition is cost-free, while the Enterprise Edition, offering enhanced features, can cost up to $250,000 annually.
Alteryx is more cost-effective compared to Informatica licenses, offering savings.
It has a fair price when considering a larger-scale implementation.
Alteryx is expensive.
I found the setup cost to be expensive
Power BI isn't very cheap, however, it is economical compared to other solutions available.
The pricing for Microsoft Power BI is low, which is a good selling point.
Pentaho Business Analytics is priced similarly to other competitors such as QlikView and Tableau.

Valuable Features

Alteryx provides user-friendly drag-and-drop analytics, supporting complex data tasks with strong integration and advanced features for diverse industries.
Power BI offers seamless Microsoft integration, data visualization, and self-service tools, enhancing data-driven decisions with flexibility and affordability.
Pentaho Business Analytics offers powerful ETL, user-friendly interface, customizable dashboards, and cost-saving, open-source analytics and reporting features.
Alteryx not only represents data but also supports decision-making by suggesting the next steps.
Alteryx is user-friendly and allows easy creation of workflows compared to Informatica PowerCenter.
The tool's flexibility in saving processes and using a vast amount of available memory has been extremely helpful.
In today's data-driven environment, these tools are of substantial value, particularly for large enterprises with numerous processes that require extensive data analysis.
Within the organization, Microsoft Power BI is used to create dashboards and gain insights into data, enhancing data-driven decision-making.
The solution makes it easy for me to develop reports and publish them.
It is a stable product, and it can handle large datasets.

Quick development enables seamless data processing despite occasional support issues
There were times when the product would fail during development without an apparent reason. The support structure changed; initially, we received great support, however, it later became less reliable due to licensing issues and a tiered support system. Licensing negotiations were problematic, affecting our product usage. For instance, our licenses were temporarily lost during negotiations when an agreement couldn't be reached.

Facilitates seamless data aggregation with some outdated visual elements hindering user appeal
Real-time data integration is an area for improvement. Although I've worked on several solutions involving real-time integration, it's not very user-friendly and often lags, especially with over a million data rows. This makes Power BI difficult to manage as loading times can reach one or two minutes, which is problematic today. There are challenges with scalability, requiring multiple pages in dashboards to manage these issues. Visualization could be improved as it appears outdated. Users, especially newcomers, find it unappealing and not user-friendly.

Great automation, easy migration, and a rather simple setup
The fuzzy logic match component came in handy to identify AML suspects (anti-money laundering). The SHA key generation component helped in generating a unique identifier for our customers, without revealing personal data; especially when we send data to the AWS cloud. Regularly, we had to send the new policy data files to medical centers over email. Using Pentaho, we were able to compress the files in zip format with a password and email them to unlimited partners. We could confidently use Pentaho for sharing data with internal and external customers in mediums such as FTP servers, LAN folders (Local Area Network), email, etc. Connectivity to platforms such as snowflake is great.
