Access points work but there are problems with support, scalability, and keeping technology current
Having a better dashboard management system that the client can use to access and control their environment would be a nice addition to the product. They said it was going to be part of one of their updates, but we did not get it. We thought we should have in one of the updates that we did. With that, we would have been able to control the environment if we needed to do something like adding more bandwidth in certain areas. Not getting that update became kind-of problematic for us. That was one of the reasons why we had to try to find a solution with a better dashboard management system. I think they need to get the product to the next Gen. Currently they are running on Generation 5. I know that they have a new product almost ready to come out, but they are not really ready for Gen 6 yet. Support could be enhanced as well. With any one of their solutions, they are the means that provides the client with the flexibility and scalability to help manage the product. Instead of the current system where you have to send them a support ticket and then have to go back and forth to get something done, I just think that users should have better control over the process. Their current process does not allow you to have that kind of control. That may be just my limited experience.

Segmentation and remote management have optimized secure hybrid networks and support flexible customization
I find that the most valuable aspect of Ubiquiti WLAN is its ease of segmentation and management, allowing me to tag interfaces without needing to spin up an interface. My feedback on the Unifi management system is that it has made managing my devices and ecosystem easy, allowing me to manage remotely and physically while maintaining a new layer of security for device policies.I would say I am fine with the security features from Ubiquiti WLAN; I have not had any issues managing devices or applying different layers of security.Mesh networking is one of the best for me; especially with my isolated Wi-Fi network, it is managed easily using Ubiquiti.I mostly work with on-prem deployment, but I have a transparent outlay into my network on the cloud for remote insight without using cloud storage on my devices. My deployment for cloud is essentially a virtual private cloud for storage, and I am considering an integration to store videos on Ubiquiti devices, moving them from on-prem to the cloud.I am totally satisfied with the functionality of Ubiquiti WLAN for my clients; it does exactly what I need. For pricing, I rate Ubiquiti WLAN as cheap when compared to others.Ubiquiti WLAN is the only one that provides unlimited capabilities for customization, which I greatly appreciate compared to Cisco options.I have not requested technical support from Ubiquiti before because I usually solve issues on my own if they arise.I rate this product a nine out of ten overall.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"I believe the initial setup was straightforward."
"Being able to centralize the wireless environment using virtual machines and having all AP management in the same place (our data centers) is very big because now we don't have to manage multiple devices out in the field and costs also go down because now you don't have to worry about maintenance on those controllers."
"The Adtran 3448, Adtran 1531P, and Adtran 160 AP are deployed for a customer in their retail clothing environment, constituting the network infrastructure on each retail site location and supporting IP cameras, Mobile POS on iPads, people counters, and traditional POS registers."
"It has allowed our SMB team to provide an easy wireless solution."
"The pricing is reasonable; there are no licenses required to use the solution, and that's one of the benefits of using the product."
"The main advantage of Ubiquiti WLAN is the network management. The whole concept has one complete range of products from end to end, with very basic and effective management systems. That's a key benefit in my mind. But the main thing is that it's so competitive—far more competitive than the other leading American brands."
"The initial setup was very straightforward."
"Its most valuable feature is pricing."
"The only way to re-adopt AP's is to do a hard reset of the device."
"For me, the ease of configuration is a valuable feature."
"As a turnkey solution."
"The product is simple to use in terms of GUI and dashboard."

Cons

"The AP160 is dated and not yet integrated into the Bluesocket family and we can't run a good Bluesocket cloud solution with the router 3448."
"Customer Service: Moderate. Technical Support: Moderate."
"Additional features other vendors have might be useful as well as an MDM integration."
"Support is not really up to par in quickly addressing issues."
"From my knowledge, we feel that this solution is not scalable enough for us."
"Having a better dashboard management system that the client can use to access and control their environment would be a nice addition to the product."
"There is room for improvement in providing the flexibility to change the default management VLAN from VLAN one to another for enhanced security."
"Largely we're happy with the product, however, the firmware deployments could maybe be managed a little bit differently."
"My expert view on Ubiquiti improvement is that capacity has been a concern, especially since I needed to change some of my devices to a 10 gig network due to limitations."
"Ubiquiti WLAN needs to expand the models with external antennas. It needs to improve stability."
"The downside is the interface changes, where they are constantly doing firmware updates."
"Ubiquiti WLAN would be improved with the addition of individual AP configuration, which would allow for fine-tuning of individual access points and logins."
"The technical support is not good."
"The solution should improve stability."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It cost over $30,000 for us for 260 access points."

"The solution is cheap. I rate its pricing as three out of ten."

"The tool is affordable."
"This solution is reasonably priced."

"This product is more cost-effective than some others on the market."
