I am only comparing Automation software for the purpose of testing desktop and office applications for patch management. But in my research I did see a SAP automation tool from a company called Worksoft. https://www.worksoft.com/products/worksoft-certify/ . I don't certify or have ever used this tool but know it is specialized for ERP testing.

As an employee of Tricentis, the continuous testing company I would highly encourage you to look into our Tosca product.
Tosca has been ranked by Gartner as Leader for the last couple of years, while many of our competitors went down.
SAP testing is one of the focus areas of Tricentis Tosca.
You can find information about SAP automation with Tosca on our webpage:
https://www.tricentis.com/sap/

The main reasons, why Tosca is the perfect solution for SAP test automation:

* With Tosca test automation you build your test cases out of modules created by scanning SAP applications.
* These modules can be combined to build test cases and can be read and adapted if needed by business users (no scripting required).
* With this approach you can dramatically increase reuse of test cases and reduce maintenance efforts for your test automation.
* Tosca allows for a risk-based analysis of your business requirements, so you can always test the most important test cases first.
* Tosca Test Case Design reduces the number of test cases by maximizing risk coverage.
* Tosca accelerators support hundreds of typical SAP use-cases out of the box
* In addition to GUI testing Tosca allows you to test SAP on API or even OSV level (to run E2E test cases successfully even if some applications are not available).

In addition, with our recent acquisition of Intellicorp, we can provide you impact analysis about changes of the SAP system, so you know which test cases you need to rerun.

You can use Testcomplete. It is also an alternative to Ranorex. But if you are testing SAP ERP I would say selenium would be the best choice.
