I've been actually looking for an answer to this question, as my organization has been using another CMS and wants to explore the option of migrating to Acquia because it offers much more features for a digital experience than we're using at the moment. From what I managed to gather, potentially it would be a good alternative to use rather than a solution that is strictly a CMS. What's more, I think it won't be as expensive as it would be to use several tools for digital experience, e.g. outsourcing marketing and whatnot, because if you upgrade your regular CMS to Acquia Cloud DPX, you'd have all the tools you need. I hope someone who's done it can provide even more clarity on the matter.
In my personal experience, it's definitely worth it to migrate from a regular CMS to Acquia Cloud. I've worked in several workspaces where we used a CMS and then other services for the marketing of the content. Needless to say, that's a huge ordeal and takes up considerable time and resources. When in my current organization we looked for a full digital experience platform, a space where all the features we might need to provide users with our services online, Acquia Cloud was one of the best choices. It offers only the option to migrate, but it can potentially save you money when doing so. We didn't end up using it only because of our management's decision for a similar digital experience platform from a competitor of Acquia's. But I'd have definitely picked the DXP from Acquia for migration and later use if it had been my call.
What is digital experience? Digital experience is the interaction between a user - whether it is a customer, partner, or employee - and an organization, made possible by digital technologies.
