Backup and recovery options integrate smoothly while affordability remains a challenge
My relationship with Veeam is that I am a reseller and system integrator. The support for both cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure from Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 impacts my data protection strategy because that's the reason we are using Veeam. Veeam is a platform that supports both on-prem and cloud. It's a single pane of glass that we can support both, which is one of the good reasons we are using Veeam. The key benefits my organization has experienced with Veeam's integration of SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, and Teams within its data protection framework are that single licensing is one of the things customers prefer to use because it's very easy for them to manage. I would rate Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 overall an eight on a scale from 1 to 10.

Easy to setup, good support, has good indexing and file-level restore features
The primary use case of this solution is for backing up EC2 instances and RDS instances The most valuable features are the indexing, the file-level restore, and the replications between regions. Also, the ability to integrate it with the information management studio, and the backups for RDS…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The installation process is very easy."
"We have backups for Microsoft 365 because it is in the account of the complete tenant compromise. If we lose access to a tenant or all of the client's data gets Microsoft 365, and they lose access to all of their emails, OneDrive, and Teams data, then at least we have an off-site copy that is not linked to their Microsoft side of things."
"I believe the solution is very scalable. We can continuously add mailboxes and sites."
"This covers the areas of backing up Office 365 that Microsoft does not include in its standard routine."
"Technical support in Veeam is good."
"The support offered by both Veeam and our third party supplier is excellent."
"We are able to store it on various cloud providers such as Amazon S3, Rocket, Azure, and IBM Cloud. It can also do on-premise integration, and we are able to use storage from on-premise. We are also able to recover data. It is a really good and intuitive solution. Veeam has developed a fantastic product. I've never seen anything that I don't like about Veeam. It looks like a very complete solution. It is really mature, simple to use, and quite interrogative. It also has APIs for writing scripts."
"It was easy to set up."
"I would rate Veritas CloudPoint a ten because it's done everything it says it'll do, and we've really not had many problems with it."
"The most valuable features are the indexing, the file-level restore, and the replications between regions."
"The product is good for volume-level backups."

Cons

"While there really is nothing wrong with the product some small improvements in the interface could make it even easier to use."
"The solution is costly."
"One area that needs improvement is the pricing of Veeam Backup, as it can be expensive at twenty-eight dollars per user for one year."
"Veeam is quite expensive."
"The product cannot back up Active Directory objects while its competitors can. Self-service power enables us to deal with service providers. We provide services for our clients, so having a multi-tenant service portal would be good."
"It would be beneficial to implement a mechanism that allows for more efficient input processing, such as recognizing the first capital letter of an email account."
"In some instances, a customer is not necessarily backing up Microsoft 365. For instance, they might be backing up a large Oracle database. It would be nice if they could tweak it to compress the file, so it's easier to transfer a huge file."
"Its price could be improved."
"I don't care for the pricing or capacity license model from Veritas CloudPoint because there are cases where we back up the same data multiple times, yet we still owe from a capacity standpoint based on how much data is managed in our backups."
"The product needs to improve its file-level or granular-level backups."
"They are niche with the work that they do, but they should have more integration with NetBackup and the reporting is something they should be working towards improving."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is not expensive."
"There is an annual license required and a per-user fee for this solution."
"The cost of Veeam Backup for Office 365 is $19 for one mailbox."
"The cost of Veeam Backup is $28 per user for one year."
"Veeam Backup for Office 365 is a low-priced solution, so it is scalable and is priced for the market, comparable to other solutions."
"From our perspective in South Africa, our biggest challenge is the exchange rate from the South African currency to the US dollar. This makes it a bit pricey for us. However, compared to other backup solutions available, I would rate the pricing at a nine out of ten. For the servers, features, and functionality you get, it's worth the money. Of course, we'd always prefer things to be cheaper, but we also understand that you have to pay for proper functionality. So overall, it's not badly priced at all."
"It is an expensive product, and there is an additional cost involved in purchasing hardware. I rate the pricing an eight out of ten."
"I'm not sure about the price, but I think it could be lower."
"When comparing to other solutions, the price is at par."
