We performed a comparison between Sunlight and VxRail based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Dell Technologies, Nutanix, VMware and others in HCI."The best feature is its ease of installation and integration within a current infrastructure."
"Using our own choice of HW allowed us to price our service to answer our customers' needs."
"Quick setup, great support, stability is great"
"StarWind vSAN is a great solution to create a redundant two-node-only Hyper-V cluster, both for domain or workgroup scenarios."
"The most valuable feature is the reliable storage replication, which enables me to create a robust infrastructure to run our business."
"It has given the company an almost zero possibility of downtime."
"This software lets us maintain storage redundancy across both of our Hyper-V hosts, so if one goes down the environment fails over to the other and we have minimal to no downtime."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the support. They are excellent and you can learn a lot from the support team."
"It supports the latest technology of NVMe SSD, which is PCIe-based SSD. It has a very good IOPS performance as compared to vSAN. For the same system, I get 1,000 IOPS with vSAN, and with Sunlight, I am able to get almost 10,000 IOPS. In terms of features, it has almost all the features, such as HA and centralized dashboards. It can be managed centrally, and the visibility of the system is very good. They also have very good technical support and customer or partner training."
"The performance and small footprint of this solution are its most valuable features. I am able to obtain and use more than 90 percent of the physical hardware capacity."
"It makes for easier deployments through automation and improved accessibility."
"The most valuable feature for me in this latest release has been the ability to add a compute or storage node. In the previous release, if I wanted to add only the compute mode, I need to buy a full node, including both compute and storage. That is no longer the case; I can upgrade whatever I want one based on my demand."
"We have seen ROI using this solution. It has simplified the work of the staff that we have which allows us to do more work with the same number of people, without having to incrementally grow the staff. The reliability of the product has been exceptional."
"VxRail's feature that we found most valuable was its really good performance. That was one of VxRail's advantages."
"It improved from an operations standpoint as we have reduced failures compared to a previous vendor. The hardware that we previously used had a lot of issues with components failing regularly."
"For me, the most valuable feature is in relation to the software updates."
"With VxRail, we can manage the life cycle of a virtual machine."
"It has a valuable deduplication feature."
"If there was a way to automatically put disks in maintenance mode when shutting the host down and exit maintenance mode automatically, that would simplify things."
"The platform needs to improve user management and the web console."
"There is no IPv6 support. That is our only issue at this time."
"A web management interface would be good, especially for those coming from other solutions that have one."
"Updates seem to be non-existent."
"I'd love to see more clarification for us folks who are smart enough to do some damage yet not smart enough to use CLI."
"A better overall view of the different deployments could be beneficial, although this is difficult due to how flexible the solution is."
"There needs to be more visibility on how long the cloud replication will take as there is no current ETA."
"Its reporting and dashboards need to be improved. It currently has very basic reporting options. It should also be made easier to deploy on Unix operating systems. It is easy to deploy on Windows and Linux, but it is currently not easy to deploy on Unix."
"My recommendation would be to add this technology to Azure, Microsoft Azure so that we can bring it to the market, or deploy it on public clouds such as Microsoft Azure and Google. It is currently only available on Amazon's public cloud."
"While VxRail offers compatibility with AMD processors, its capabilities in this area could benefit from further development."
"It might offer better integration with other products."
"The update for the graphics integration and the media drivers isn't included in the VxRail update."
"The tool needs to improve its price."
"We used an integrator team for the implementation of the solution. The one person who takes care of the maintenance of VxRail, such as upgrading the software. The upgrading takes too long. We have many nodes which takes a long time, they need to improve the speed of the upgrades"
"What I find very valuable is VxRail's life cycle management. The life cycle management takes care of everything from firmware to the actual upgrading of the hypervisor and keeps everything up to level."
"We would like to see integrating with Nutanix. Currently, we are working on integrating the two to see if there is any value in doing so."
"The only issue which is every now and again is that when you log in it will tell you that there's an issue with VxRail when there actually isn't. All that's required is a refresh or reload. The solution itself works but you may get some bad reports every now and again. Probably once every couple of months; there is no effect to the solution's capabilities."
