Review summaries and opinions

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

ROI

Sentiment score
7.4
SentinelOne Singularity Complete cuts costs by boosting productivity, preventing threats, and reducing ransomware risks, offering quick ROI.
Sentiment score
7.1
SonarQube Server boosts productivity, stability, and security through effective code analysis and vulnerability assessment, enhancing development processes.
Since then, I have not faced any intrusions, which is one reason I chose SentinelOne over ESET.
We have not faced any attacks since we implemented it.
It has absolutely helped reduce our organizational risk.
I have seen a return on the investment from SonarQube Server (formerly SonarQube) because the value it adds relates to static code analysis and vulnerability assessments needed for our FDA approval process.
We see productivity increasing based on the fact that the code review is mostly automated, allowing the developer to fix the code themselves before assigning it to someone else to review, thus receiving that ROI.
It's more about maintaining standards and being able to prevent issues before they occur.

Customer Service

Sentiment score
7.2
SentinelOne Singularity Complete offers quick, knowledgeable support with remote sessions, though some desire faster, interactive phone or chat options.
Sentiment score
6.2
SonarQube Server's support is valued for community resources and documentation, though free version technical support is limited.
They do a great job of figuring out the problem and pointing you to generic documentation or working with you to fine-tune a solution.
We are using the automated email process for support, and they respond within an hour or two hours sometimes.
A chat service would be beneficial.
The community support is quite effective.
I would rate the technical support for SonarQube Server (formerly SonarQube) as a 10 because we have not faced any specific issues that required us to contact tech support, which is a very rare case.
They showed us where we can actually get those granular level reporting extracted for Excel, which was a quick guide.

Scalability Issues

Sentiment score
8.0
SentinelOne Singularity Complete scales efficiently, smoothly handling deployments, adding agents, and supporting growth across diverse IT infrastructures.
Sentiment score
7.0
SonarQube Server efficiently scales for various user volumes and project sizes, though infrastructure demands may rise in physical setups.
It's all auto-scale and auto-categorized, configuring automatically.
The tool's built-in automation for deploying the agents works well for large infrastructures like mine.
My deployment is relatively small, and SentinelOne Singularity Complete works within those constraints.
I would rate the scalability of SonarQube Server as a 10 because we can configure the server to scan multiple projects based on the number of lines.
I find SonarQube Server (formerly SonarQube) very scalable because we're able to create a new repository and integrate all the tools on that project and it just works.

Stability Issues

Sentiment score
7.8
SentinelOne Singularity Complete is praised for stability, performance, and proactive updates, despite occasional third-party software conflicts.
Sentiment score
7.7
SonarQube Server is highly reliable, stable with minor issues often related to plugins or environments, and rarely crashes.
It has caused problems with interoperability between third-party tools, which could lead to entire servers crashing or specific tools failing.
This indicates room for improvement in stability when interacting with other solutions.
Initially, there were issues, particularly on the management side, but now the console is much more stable.
I think SonarQube Server (formerly SonarQube) is stable, and we did not face any problems unless there was a power outage or if the LAN cable was plugged out.

Room For Improvement

SentinelOne Singularity Complete requires UI, integration, resource efficiency, and pricing improvements, with enhanced support and deployment processes.
SonarQube Server needs better issue detection, usability, language support, integration, customizable features, and AI-driven dynamic testing enhancements.
The only thing that prevented the attack from succeeding was a free version of Malwarebytes.
Providing a single pane of visibility for the end user would be beneficial.
It's challenging to prevent a user from manipulating their privileges or someone else's of others, and it's difficult to control what users can access at the organizational level.
If I fix some vulnerabilities today, they reappear in the next scan, and there will be completely different issues that need to be fixed.
As soon as I see that they've got a new feature that integrates AI that is not as generative as other GenAI platforms that actually generate the code and help developers develop faster, I believe that capability is lacking.
Instead of grouping, I would prefer to scan the code as part of development and then generate a report on a daily basis among different units or projects, which is currently complicated.

Setup Cost

SentinelOne Singularity Complete provides cost-effective endpoint security, with competitive pricing justified by its comprehensive and flexible features.
SonarQube Server provides cost-effective solutions for code quality, with competitive pricing and enhanced features for various project sizes.
If you want protection, you have to pay the price.
There are other products that are less expensive, but I tell my clients that in security, they cannot cut corners or look for the cheapest solution.
Reputation and quality are important, but especially in today’s economy, price is a significant factor.
I would rate the pricing for SonarQube Server (formerly SonarQube) as an 8, where 1 is very cheap and 10 is very expensive, because Coverity is very expensive, and while SonarQube is not cheap, it is still less expensive than Coverity.
They always offer around a two-year contract, but we always take a one-year contract because it's expensive.
The freemium version of SonarQube Server offers excellent value, especially compared to the high costs of Snyk.

Valuable Features

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is lauded for AI threat detection, automation, user-friendly interface, and efficient endpoint security without cloud reliance.
SonarQube Server enhances code quality with language support, CI/CD integration, insightful dashboards, and an intuitive interface.
I have an advanced app providing visibility of all my endpoints, which was not the case before.
SentinelOne has a feature to decommission automatically, which has been fantastic.
There's also automation that gives my team free time, preventing them from having to look for every alert.
Some of the static code analysis capabilities are the most beneficial.
The most valuable features of SonarQube Server (formerly SonarQube) for us include having control of the rules, enabling and disabling them.
We use SonarQube Server's centralized management and visualization of code quality metrics on the dashboard because that's the executive dashboard that we send to the executives to show where we are in terms of quality, security, and where the company can improve.

The analytics and reporting can be a bit overwhelming. I love the dashboards, but I find that I need to better understand PowerQuery—specifically when to turn it on and off and its limitations. It's similar to SharePoint in that regard. As a former SharePoint instructor, I know it like the back of my hand. The best thing about SharePoint is that it can do whatever you want; the worst part is also that it can do whatever you want. You really need to know what you want before diving in. Most people usually have a good idea of what they need. SharePoint offers a lot out of the box, but you can customize it further if you wish. However, customization often requires hiring someone, which can be risky since you never know if it will work as intended. On the other hand, PowerQuery can help bridge some of those gaps within Singularity. The challenge arises when you want to incorporate what you've done into dashboards and charts, as there are limitations. For instance, I want more clickable drill-down options that allow me to filter on specific sections of the data, but that's currently not possible. It’s not to say that improvements won’t come in the future; it's just that it feels a bit early at this stage. Additionally, I find some navigation features frustrating, like the back button in certain contexts. For example, if you open PowerQuery from a chart, it doesn't open in a new window or tab. Clicking the back button takes you all the way back to the previous state, causing you to lose whatever progress you made. However, I'm actively providing this feedback to my partner, Pro Circular, through whom we access SentinelOne. They take our input seriously, and I've been sharing my observations. They have their own views but are addressing the issues I raise. It's good to see that suggestions occasionally lead to updates and improvements.

Consistent improvements in code quality and security with effective integration and reliable technical support
The features of SonarQube Server (formerly SonarQube) that I find most useful are the suggestions received from reviewing the code. When they review the code, they provide suggestions on how to fix it, and we find those very useful from a development perspective. We use SonarQube Server's (formerly SonarQube) centralized management and visualization of code quality metrics on the dashboard because that's the executive dashboard that we send to the executives to show where we are in terms of quality, security, and where the company can improve. We use that for organizational improvement purposes. The ability to tailor metrics tracking in SonarQube Server (formerly SonarQube) has been beneficial to my team. There are team-specific dashboards which are related to specific repositories they utilize, and we have that aggregative dashboard that shows the whole organization's performance. We can drill down per specific repository, which makes it easier for the team to improve specific things.
