Cons

"It'll help if they can provide real-time or closer to real-time monitoring."
"All of the areas of reporting are very bad and need to be improved."
"The interface is a little bit cumbersome and certain actions could be simplified."
"The solution’s initial setup is difficult."
"SCOM needs to improve its usability."
"Regarding certain issues in the solution, it can be difficult to generate reports if we have a program that is not user-friendly for reporting. While this is not necessarily negative, we may need to use another solution."
"System Center just provided upgrade and update features for Windows clients, and Windows systems, and did not support Linux, Android, or iOS, and other operating systems. They need to provide better integration with other operating systems if they don't already."
"The configurations could be better. There are multiple tests where you can do something, but they can be a trigger as well. The overriding methodologies are not that easy. The configurations are difficult. The configuration and thorough day-to-day operations to get them to the level you want takes some time. It's very difficult."

"System Center should make its interface and console easy to understand and operate."
"SCCM is expensive for me personally."

I believe the answer is "it depends". How much visibility do you need into your servers, network, applications? All of these questions need to be answered before you can justify the System Center Suite of products. 1. What kinds of VM you are running? if they are Hyper-V, good match. If they are any others, I guess there are better tools in the market. 2. Yes some products included in the suite is not applicable, but they are included and you have it no matter what... like DPM, even you have the licenses, you might still go for other tools like backup exec or so.... 3. For ROI... it is the same for all management software I believe, how critical is your application? How much downtime you can afford?
