Ability to create different connections, multi-tenant architecture but slow execution of commands
There are a lot of features in Oracle Developer. You can create tables, users, views, materialized views. You can also do data pump jobs to export jobs, export databases and dump files, create backup jobs, that sort of thing. Users can usually integrate this tool with other solutions for development or management processes. There are different connections you can create. For example, with Office applications, you can connect to the database. Or if you're programming in Java, you can use a JDK connection to retrieve data from the database and read, store, or update records. For security, everything's perfect. You can use an SSH connection if you're accessing a server in the cloud, or you just have a normal IP connection if you're running your database on the local network.

Offers flexibility and better accessibility to users
The security part of the tool is not so strong, making it an area I would like to see improved in the solution. When working with a cloud tool, it's never 100 percent secure and it is always something to take into account. I would like to be more comfortable working with it and feeling safer. In the future, the tool can be made faster. In the future, I would like to see maybe some AI features in the tool to help automate stuff. You need to be able to create your own models to help create some automated actions.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"With the multi-tenant architecture, you can migrate many databases to one instance. This saves a lot of money and administrative work."
"The solution's technical support is really good."
"The APEX solution is the most interesting part of the Oracle Developer Service. APEX is the most cost-effective and most popular service for developers. Kubernetes and Docker services are also important and very much cost-effective, and helpful for developers. If we compare Oracle to other cloud services providers, they'll also be cost-effective. The financial involvement is also a good point because other cloud services charge for Docker and Kubernetes solutions. Oracle's offering is almost free. They only charge for the VM or virtual machine. This is also an interesting part for the developers as well."
"Oracle Developer Cloud Service isn't an expensive product; it's definitely cheaper than any other enterprise cloud solution."
"Operational overhead and expenses have been reduced due to easy provisioning and decommissioning of dev/test environments."
"Demoing is always an expensive process, from procurement of hardware to installation of software, now it is easier, cheaper, and more elastic."
"Reduces man-hours and speeds up business operations."
"The auto-backup, incremental backup and restoration features can be invaluable for management."
"The ability to manage security and access the server from any location with complete security using SSH is perfect for performing crucial tasks, even while travelling."
"Cloud has provided less maintenance."
"Fast, rapid and agile development and deployment of an ADF application (within Proof-of-Concept project) involves four developers in a distributed team (across two different time-zones) and through this they are able to cooperate quickly, without the usual problems of dev/test environment deployments."
"It's a very low-cost option for a business to start with."

Cons

"Sometimes, I lose the cursor in the editor, and it disappears for no reason. It's hard to guess where I'm in the text, and I feel a bit lost."
"t would be better if the open-source databases were managed. Some managed services for open-source databases are available in other cloud solutions, but Oracle doesn't have any. They should provision more managed services for open-source databases like MongoDB and PostgreSQL. These types of managed database services should be available in Oracle Cloud Service and others. There are other technical issues like the CDN network that is not directly configured to Oracle and needs support from a third party. There are also some services available in AWS and Azure that should be included in Oracle Cloud Service."
"Improvements are needed in terms of the usage of the map chart and risk management services."
"I would like to see more monitors for standard edition"
"Integration with Oracle products is well-supported. The same should be provided for other products that are used in most organizations, like PeopleSoft, CA, etc."
"It needs to have the ability to create a service with the same name as another one when the initial creation failed as sometimes it's necessary to have a service with exact name."
"Customer service could be improved."
"The product's high price is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"There are issues with the application's development, including small glitches and errors."
"The security part of the tool is not so strong, making it an area I would like to see improved in the solution."
"So far, the only issue I have is with the storage cloud."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate the pricing two on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
"Oracle Developer Cloud Service isn't an expensive product. It's definitely cheaper than any other enterprise cloud solution."
"It is somewhat expensive."
"Oracle Java Cloud Service is an expensive product."
"Oracle is a little more expensive right now, but not much compared to SAP. Oracle's prices are very much dependent on the scale of the project and how many users are there."
