Helps us with our compliance goals, native quality management systems and with the legacy systems in our organization
To improve the product, it needs some enhancement to the application's interface to be more user-friendly. The product has all the features that we need and we can depend upon it. My issue with the product is that it is not easy to use without a guide or a proper manual. That is my point. It is not very friendly to use. For example, we may need the application to be more friendly in other sorts of ways. If we have an integrated module that allows access to the features we want through one click, you do not need to make it two or three clicks on the screen. The interface can be better designed to easily provide access to the features you need. The feature I would like to see in the next release is just for it to be more friendly to use and to be like a smart application that intuits your movement through the application. It needs to be something that works smoothly and intelligent without any complicated navigation of screens.

Drilling into change lifecycles has given me clear end to end traceability for every item
Reporting is my main area of concern. Additionally, the migration activity and portability are important areas for improvement. If I needed to move from Jira to Rally Software, having built-in portability or migration utilities would be beneficial. At the time of my use, there was not an inbuilt capability to migrate applications from other third-party solutions to Rally Software. Currently, I am not using Rally Software.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Customer Service: Excellent. Our original pre-sales technical contact is now in a different position within the sales organization, but is still willing to field questions, and get the right resources involved to speed up the delivery of customer service."
"The solution is very scalable and it's been quite scalable for our organization's purpose."
"The product has all the features that we for application managementat a lower cost."
"We have seen a bonified return on investment."
"AccuRev is a better tool in general."
"The solution is 100% scalable. It's much more scalable than the customer's capacity for implementing it. We do plan to increase usage ourselves."
"It has a user friendly UI which has been very much appreciated by our organization."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is taking snapshots while doing the execution of the test cases."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the Kanban board, the team board that you can see, and enables you to capture the working agreements as well as the date and stage."
"I think it is an excellent tool for tracking agile scrum activities."
"It has allowed the quality assurance team to keep all information in sync with the application requirements and user stories for our general development."
"Having a real-time view of what has been accomplished, what is in progress, and our backlog, that is easily accessible to all stakeholders, (customers, executives, implementation members, and delivery leads, as well as our staff of multi-discipline Product Owners and Managers) is critical to building and creating a high quality and viable product."
"It really does help everything just flow through the cycle better; everybody just worrying about their small piece of the pie, and then the project managers can have a bigger overview of it."
"There is simply no way we would be able to release as many new products, enhancements or defect fixes without it!"
"Helped us to organize team effort and keep the team on track by providing a burndown chart and team status breakdown at the task level."
"But because of Rally, we were able to track all the users' codices, track all the features, track the capacity so that we could plan, and find out as a team what the capacity is as a team to deliver in a two-week sprint."

Cons

"Stability needs improvement. It has some minor defects that could be improved."
"Limited reporting features for management."
"It is difficult to gain experience with the product because resources and documentation for learning are not available."
"The tool has an issue whereby it restarts its services on its own."
"Because AccuRev is a centralized SCM, Microfocus will always need to work to improve performance relative to distributed SCM."
"My issue with the product is that it is not easy to use without a guide or a proper manual."
"The pricing should be more competitive."
"Source code conflicts are like evil twins."
"I think one of the things that we stumble upon is how to organize the teams."
"Also, the defect-management cycle needs work."
"I would like to see greater ability to manage common teams that are working across projects and how that common team has tasks to do in both projects or in multiple other projects."
"Reporting I think is a big one too, especially at the bank. So if we're not able to get that real data in a very simple way and be able to slice and dice it, then we aren't as effective as we could be at making those decisions quickly."
"The reporting functionalities need improvement. Also, there's too much lag, but they're fixing that."
"I wish there was a view, like the Kanban view, where you could see the parent, and see all the children visually, so you could drag and drop where you want it to go. Something like that might help."
"More importantly, we are seeing internal challenges from Atlassian because of their highly integrated suite that enables further automation and centralization of activities that are also highly necessary – messaging notifications cued off builds, collaboration on Solution Architecture Documentation, etc."
"As a result, we cannot use this tool for defect management."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is a lower cost than other top competetors."
"I understand it's a little more expensive. That is why many people prefer Jira."
"From a price point, it's a cost effective solution for our needs."
"We are always looking for a discount, if the solution was less expensive it would be a benefit."
"I don't know the exact pricing, but I think the tool is priced high. They provide quality workmanship, good software, regular upgrades, and they're always attentive and listen to users. Everything comes with a price. I think it's an expensive solution compared to Jira or other competitors, but it's a complete package."
"It is expensive and may not be worthwhile for a small company."
"Rally Software costs $50 a month, and for a base account, that price is acceptable."
"The license costs are fairly high as compared to some of the other solutions out there."
"Frankly, pricing is expensive and needs to be carefully planned for when budgeting."
