Manages hybrid infrastructure seamlessly with flexible cluster scaling and comprehensive oversight
The most important aspect of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) is that it helps us manage the infrastructure as a hyperconverged infrastructure in HCI mode. If I have different physical servers, I can map them into a cluster and manage the storage together. It provides flexibility to make use of storage in a clustered format instead of using it in an individual storage endpoint. We have the flexibility to have Nutanix-based licensing based on the core model, instead of having a specific cost on the cluster. The costing on a core model gives customers flexibility to add multiple cores to a single physical host and adjust the infrastructure accordingly, and we can scale up the cluster as needed. While other cloud providers, AWS or Azure, are mostly into cloud-based solutions, and Azure has introduced Azure Stack HCI for managing on-premises infrastructure, Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) provides flexibility from day one. We can manage both on-premises and Azure solutions using a single pane of glass, eliminating the need to navigate different windows or screens. It provides a comprehensive view of the infrastructure and highlights specific areas through alerts, giving us good visibility of infrastructure conditions.

The ability to autoscale based on load is the most valuable feature. I would highly recommend it.
It used to be the ability to autoscale based on load I was able to to deal with requests without needing every server on; I could turn them off. Compatibility with SoftLayer I think was our block. Rackspace was fine, as far as I know. I think I have been using it for a few months. We didn’t…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"In the beginning, I saw the product's user manual, but when installing and managing it in a practical way, I could see that it is very friendly and reliable at the interface level, at the same time very specific, it shows characteristics of the resources never observed at least by me on similar platforms"
"Among the most valuable features are the one-click upgrade, that Nutanix is very easy to understand, and that it's very user-friendly."
"The unified platform is also very user-friendly and clickable, similar to the Windows environment, making it easier for users to navigate and maintain."
"Nutanix Xi Beam's executive dashboard is valuable as it provides a complete sense of the whole infrastructure, right from a costing standpoint and a billing standpoint, while also showing your compliance requirements and solution insights."
"The scalability of the solution is way better than anything else, and everything is plug-and-play, which is pretty awesome."
"I would describe my experience with deploying Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) as very simple."
"I like being able to expand my workload with Nutanix Cloud Manager at the best cost."
"In my more than twenty-five years of experience in the industry, I would say the technical support goes above and beyond any other vendor that I've ever worked with."
"I was able to deal with requests without needing every server on; I could turn them off."

Cons

"I think one of the points to improve is having the platform with multiple languages, for example, Spanish, seriously, one point to consider is a valid point for me, my native language is Spanish, being in Venezuela."
"The areas that could be improved include the Nutanix Move tool, which is presently used for migrating VMs from one setup to a private cloud. It can be improved by adding some other setups, such as Citrix Xen, Red Hat Virtualization, and Red Hat OpenShift. There are many other cloud products that need to be added to the Nutanix Move tool, which would be really helpful for us in India, where we use different setups such as Red Hat Virtualization, OpenShift, Citrix XenCenter, Hyper-V, and VMware."
"We have faced some issues during operations, but when we log a case with Nutanix support, they help us to resolve them."
"However, we know that technology advances every day, and a good strategy would be to create a free application so the user can be even more interested in the platform and control monitoring through phones."
"The interoperability with different clouds can be better so that one can even integrate the infrastructure of different clouds. They can interoperate better with other clouds because currently, you have to buy Nutanix resources in the cloud."
"I would appreciate more advanced networking features in the dashboard."
"Pricing could be worked on a bit. I feel that when I talk to people about it who have looked into Nutanix, they say, "Well, it's pretty expensive compared to the other thing I was looking at.""
"I cannot say Calm is providing centralized control of all our applications because we have some legacy systems."
"We did use AWS autoscaling but Rackspace left something to be desired."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Nutanix Cloud Manager is an expensive solution."
"The product is expensive...When I have to sell the tool to a customer, I would say that it is not very expensive and can be termed priceless."
"It's cost-effective. It's not necessarily cheap, but it's also not inordinately expensive. It comes down to how much you use it to offset some of the costs."
"The tool is expensive."
"On a scale from one to ten, if one is a low price and ten is a high price, I rate the solution's pricing a six."
"The solution’s pricing is not outrageous like other products."
"Nutanix is really smart to understand that the most important fact is the value to the customer, not the price tag. While you do get some sticker shock sometimes, as soon as you show this and you prove the value, all of a sudden, it looks exceptionally affordable."
"In my opinion, Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) is expensive."
