Centralized backups have reduced operational effort and improve ransomware recovery readiness
Nimesa Backup and Recovery for AWS can be improved by adding reporting capability and the possibility for predictive insights if a backup is going to fail earlier, as we have with artificial intelligence-driven solutions. Additionally, more compression or deduplication to optimize storage would be beneficial, and if it could be integrated to allow us to create policies using an infrastructure as code framework, that would provide an easier, automated way to manage policies. Regarding Nimesa Backup and Recovery for AWS's artificial intelligence capabilities, I think its governance and security should improve more as they are not on par. Prediction of backup failure should be available, and it is not that accurate. I am not entirely sure about the accuracy and reliability of the artificial intelligence output because it is not that accurate. I have not used it that much. Since I saw that the basic configuration and backup configuration worked well, the solution has been reliable in our experience with consistent backup execution and successful recovery testing. Automated monitoring and alerting helped identify issues proactively, which improves confidence in recovery objectives and recovery time objectives.

Active data protection has ensured high availability and supports seamless reporting workloads
In my opinion, Active Data Guard is the most valuable feature. We use the secondary side for reporting purposes, which reduces the load on the primary side. Oracle Data Guard includes functions such as automatic failover, but we use manual managed failover. After some months, we converted our primary to secondary and secondary to primary. Oracle Data Guard is effective in minimizing data loss and provides a good solution for that. The main benefits of Oracle Data Guard include minimizing data loss during a production failure. It is used for maximum availability when paired with Oracle RAC, so if any disruption occurs, we have an alternative Data Guard to convert our load to the disaster recovery site. Oracle Data Guard maintains a high level of data integrity by using archive logs. When a transaction happens, redo logs create archive logs, which are then applied on the disaster recovery side, ensuring that both databases are synchronized.

Pros

"Overall, these features make day-to-day backup operations more structured, reduce operational overhead, and improve confidence around recovery preparedness and cloud resilience."
"Nimesa Backup and Recovery for AWS helped us automate backup scheduling and policy management, gave us centralized visibility with a dashboard across AWS workloads of multiple accounts, helped us with a faster recovery process, and majorly reduced our operational overhead while improving our ransomware and data protection."
"Previously, if we had any disaster or any issue, it would take days to bring the environment back up to the original state, and with Nimesa Backup and Recovery for AWS, we can do that within a couple of hours, which greatly reduces downtime in the case of disaster recovery."
"It's a very good solution if you want to protect your data across two data centers, or you have a middle man or many administrators who use these solutions for protecting their data. It's very reliable compared to other solutions that are most often not storage-based."
"Data Guard also improved because customers with an active Data Guard license want to reduce the I/O in a production environment. Some application complaints to it for Oracle reporting purposes. It has a production environment that needs to be enhanced."
"The most valuable features are the backup and restore. With this in place along with the clustering, the database is safe from hacking, hardware failure, power failures, and system crashes."
"Another valuable feature is the possibility of backing up the database from the standby database instead of the primary database, to avoid backup process overhead in the primary system."
"The most valuable feature is the application or promotional code used in the production protocol to transfer data to the secondary database, situated on the DR site."
"It is not a cheap product, but if you look at the price, features, availability, scalability, and maturity, it is a very good product."
"We have dealt with Oracle's customer service for eight years, and their service is astonishingly good."
"We chose this solution for the availability of the databases. We can't afford Oracle Grid, this is the best solution if you want something similar that's less expensive."

Cons

"Regarding customer support, as this is a very new product and relatively new in the market, I am not sure how long they have been around, but there seems to be a lack of understanding with the support team."
"One area where Nimesa Backup and Recovery for AWS could improve is expanding advanced analytics and predictive monitoring capabilities, especially for identifying backup risks, storage optimization opportunities, and recovery readiness trends more proactively."
"Nimesa Backup and Recovery for AWS has a fairly small market presence."
"Pricing is expensive and can use improvement."
"Oracle could be improved by the ability to manage it on the cloud. This on-premises version is secure and reliable, but I'm sure that they will soon provide a cloud solution that will be even better. In one to two years, we will probably move to the cloud—we have already moved to the cloud with Microsoft Exchange, but our databases are still on-premises. I would prefer managing a cloud version of Oracle."
"Oracle could be improved by the ability to manage it on the cloud."
"I would like to see better failover."
"The initial setup is complex."
"Oracle Data Guard is stable, but you need to keep monitoring the system all the time. You need to keep monitoring the archives."
"The pricing of the solution is quite high. They should do what they can to bring it down so that it is more reasonable for customers like us."
"The only difficult part is the cost factor, licensing. Another area of improvement is support."
