Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Technical support has been very helpful when we have issues.""The backup features are the most valuable because they allow the DBAs to replace SnapManager for Oracle (SMO), which is going away, and to do cloning as well. We can also clone to different servers and have the actual backup clone mounted on different servers. And we can split easily too.""The backup process finishes very quickly.""It's very helpful because SnapCenter is already integrated with VMware Snapshot, so it's very easy to use.""I like the instant backups and recovery feature that SnapCenter provides within NetApp storage systems.""The most valuable feature is that it's centralized. In the old SnapManager days, we had software for each server. Now, with a centralized system, we're able to manage all systems remotely, and all agents remotely, and update them remotely. That's a huge benefit for us.""It allows us to easily take a Snapshot and use it with any backup tools. We can also take Snapshots on the application side. We can also take Snapshots on the application side. If we want to restore an SAP or an Oracle machine, a normal Snapshot won't do it, but we can do so with SnapCenter.""The Exchange plugin is the most valuable because we have a lot of customers that use SnapManager Exchange and have to migrate to SnapCenter."

"I like the incremental backups and their failover.""It's stable and reliable.""The really amazing feature about Veeam Agent is that when you're using the central deployment model, you can actually use the instant VM recovery feature, which is really a pain point that I find some days.""The flexibility and user-friendliness of Veeam make it very IT operations-friendly.""The initial setup and deployment are easy. It's straightforward.""The solution is very simple. Management of the platform is so simple that we don't need to have any training to deploy this solution.""The user interface is good.""The solution is very user-friendly and has an easy to use interface. We can manage it easily. It allows for a simple backup."

Cons
"I feel a little bit that during the whole process of putting this software into production we were like a beta program. It was full of bugs... For example, we had a problem with truncating our Exchange log files... It has improved over time.""The DBAs are comparing it to SMO but it doesn't have a lot of the functionalities that SMO has.""Reporting of the jobs could be better.""The tool could be faster.""The Microsoft environment is its biggest disadvantage due to the central management of all the actions. Because the SnapCenter server is where we deploy everything, it also affects the Microsoft environment, which can cause many difficulties when resolving issues like Windows update problems.""I would like to see replication support between systems. Right now, it's kind of limited. We manage them separately from the storage system interface, not from SnapCenter. It would be nice if it was integrated into SnapCenter.""Groups might be helpful for each site or data center so that we know a given data center has these resources while another data center has those resources. It's not always easy to group hosts by type.""The product lags in terms of availability."

More NetApp SnapCenter Cons →

"It has no cloud backup feature. You can't back up anywhere outside of your local network.""The solution is pretty stable right now, however, we believe that the solution could be made to be even more stable.""The integration needs improvement.""The pricing could be lowered if possible.""We are currently waiting for the continuous backup process.""Scalability, if you are talking about Linux, is good. However, if you need to backup more types of solutions or Unix systems, like HP/UX, AIX, etc., it's not compatible.""In terms of the physical environment, I'd like them to integrate it with other kinds of solutions. We don't just work with Microsoft or Linux, but other kinds of infrastructure data as well.""One problem in Veeam Agent for Linux is that you can't use your license for all your machines because you don't have a virtual machine, so if you're going to add machines and scale, you'd need to pay extra."
