Risk-based triage has transformed container security and now prioritizes high-impact threats
The best features Qualys TotalCloud offers currently include managing cloud infrastructure and container security while facing major challenges such as alert fatigue. Traditional vulnerability scanners flag hundreds of CVEs on short-lived Kubernetes containers, some of which have no internet exposure or are gone before we can even triage them. I leverage Qualys TotalCloud to move beyond static CVSS. I use it to implement runtime exposure, correlation risk reprioritization, and shift-left integration. This notifies developers to fix a base image upstream rather than patching live ephemeral instances. In my work with cloud and container security, the biggest operational hurdle was alert fatigue. I use Qualys to shift left from static CVSS severity to context-aware risk prioritization. I correlated raw vulnerability data with real-time risk factors such as public network exposure, active runtime execution, or overly permissive IAM roles. This allows us to immediately drop the priority of isolated containers and escalate lower-severity CVEs that sit on an exposed, high-risk path. We can map these findings directly back to our CI/CD pipelines so developers can patch the root base images upstream. We have drastically cut down the signal-to-noise ratio, saved a lot of manual hours doing triage work, and ensured engineering effort goes directly towards high-impact risk reduction.

Offers in-memory protection at a lower price than competitors
Morphisec's in-memory protection is probably the most valuable feature because it stops malicious activity from occurring. If something tries to install or act as a sleeper agent, Morphisec will detect and stop it. Morphisec's Moving Target Defense is critical to hardening our attack surface. If it detects something, it indicates whether it's valid. That means you've got a breach requiring investigation. It detects anomalies but doesn't necessarily point to what caused them. You still need to do that work. The solution is reasonably easy to administer. They made some changes last year, adding a cloud-based monitoring solution that makes deploying and monitoring our endpoints easy.

Improved threat intelligence has enabled us to prioritize exploitable vulnerabilities efficiently
In my opinion, the best features VulnCheck offers are its vulnerability intelligence, exploitation tracking, and risk-based prioritization. I find the threat context especially useful because it helps us identify vulnerabilities that are more likely to be exploited and focus our remediation efforts accordingly. The exploitation tracking feature has helped my team because it helps us understand which vulnerabilities are being actively exploited or are more likely to be targeted. This gives us better context when prioritizing vulnerabilities and helps the team focus on urgent remediation instead of treating all vulnerabilities equally. Another useful feature is threat intelligence context around vulnerabilities. It helps us connect vulnerability information with real-world threats, which makes prioritization and communication with the vulnerability management team easier. Overall, it helps us focus on the vulnerabilities that present the most immediate risk. VulnCheck has impacted my organization positively by helping us improve how we prioritize vulnerabilities by giving us better threat and exploitation context. Instead of focusing only on severity scores, we can identify vulnerabilities that have a higher likelihood of being exploited. This helps us use our security resources more effectively and respond to higher risk vulnerabilities faster. VulnCheck has helped us improve vulnerability prioritization and reduce the time spent reviewing a large number of vulnerabilities. We are able to focus faster on vulnerabilities with active exploitation and higher threat relevance. I do not have a specific organization-wide metric to share, but the main improvements have been more efficient prioritization and better context of remediation decisions.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Generally, Qualys is very good at detections, whether on cloud or on-prem, and the agent allows deployment on both infrastructures, providing continuous monitoring of your assets, which is a key selling point for us."
"TotalCloud provides the easiest and the best approach for cloud infrastructure management."
"TotalCloud offers a comprehensive suite of features, including EDR, XDR, and TrueRisk, providing a centralized platform for managing vulnerabilities and security risks."
"Qualys TotalCloud has significantly reduced our workload in terms of managing risks, helping us to be more efficient and save substantial resources."
"The agent and agentless scanning in TotalCloud, particularly the FlexScan method, is incredibly valuable. With traditional scanning approaches, we had to give IP ranges and whitelist IPs. All that is now simplified. FlexScan requires minimal intervention, and after configuration, it automatically collects data and performs necessary scans."
"I appreciate Qualys TotalCloud's ability to onboard any type of device with ease, including containers."
"I found the initial setup user-friendly."
"Qualys TotalCloud helps you not just to identify misconfigurations, but you can actually also fix issues."
"It also provides full visibility into security events from Microsoft Defender and Morphisec in one dashboard. We've always had that capability with Morphisec. The more recent version appears to do that even a little bit more natively and it's given us visibility that we didn't have otherwise."
"Morphisec has enabled us to become a lot less paranoid when it comes to staff clicking on things or accessing things that they shouldn't that could infect the whole system. Our original ransomware attack that happened came from someone's Google drive and then just filtered on through that. It has put our minds at ease a lot more in running it. It's also another layer of security that has been proven to be effective for us."
"The fact that Morphisec uses deterministic attack prevention that does not require human intervention has affected our security team's operations by making things much simpler. We don't have to really track down various alerts anymore, they've just stopped. At that point, we can go in and we can clean up whatever needs to be cleaned up. There are some things that Morphisec detects that we can't really remove, it's parts of Internet Explorer, but it's being blocked anyway. So we're happy with that."
"We haven't had any cybersecurity incidents on machines running Morphisec."
"Morphisec provides full visibility into security events from Microsoft Defender and Morphisec in one dashboard. Defender and Morphisec are integrated. It's important because it lowers the total cost of maintenance on the engineer's time, more or less. So the administrative time is dramatically reduced in maintaining the product. This saves an engineer around four to five hours a week."
"Since we started using Morphisec, that hasn't happened even once."
"Since using Morphisec we have seen a downturn in attacks because Morphisec protects us versus Defenders and whatnot that are signature-based. I know we have not had any issues with ransomware or other zero-day attacks that we've seen with machines that, all of a sudden, have become before we instituted the product. Now the machine had to be re-imaged and there was a loss of data because something was on the machine. You couldn't really determine what was on the machine because nothing was picking it up. The products we were using weren't picking it up."
"Morphisec Guard enables us to see at a glance whether our users have device control and disk encryption enabled properly. This is important because we are a global company operating with multiple entities. Previously, we didn't have that visibility. Now, we have visibility so we can pinpoint some locations where there are machines that are not really protected, offline, etc. It gives us visibility, which is good."
"The clear prioritization based on risk is probably the biggest day-to-day benefit."
"With VulnCheck's early exploit visibility, I can remediate vulnerabilities quickly, making timely decisions before the vulnerabilities are known to the public and hackers."
"We see improvement in our vulnerability visibility and remediation process with VulnCheck, as it helps us in identifying and prioritizing the critical vulnerabilities faster and also helps us track the vulnerabilities more efficiently, providing clear reports to the relevant teams."
"Overall, VulnCheck has positively impacted my organization by making our verification workflow more organized and efficient; it reduces some of the repetitive manual checking and gives the team a more consistent way to review information, which helps us save time and focus more on tasks that require actual analysis or decision making."
"VulnCheck has shifted the mindset within my organization and my partners from a reactive to a more proactive approach."
"If you are looking for a one-stop solution for vulnerability management that offers lower costs and superior visibility into vulnerabilities, then VulnCheck is the right choice."
"VulnCheck offers the best features including time saving and money saving, having no occupancy for the remote connection, connection, and data transformation; it is a very good product for transforming data from one way to another."
"VulnCheck has impacted my organization positively by helping us improve how we prioritize vulnerabilities by giving us better threat and exploitation context."

Cons

"It has been working very well, but it would be helpful if the dashboard could generate reports tailored to specific compliance needs. For example, in India, we have to comply with RBI and SEBI guidelines. It w"
"In TotalCloud, I would suggest improvements in policy checks to cater to various inventory types like VPCs, subnets, S3 buckets, or IAMs. There is a lack of data segregation according to criticality or inventory."
"There is room for improvement in vulnerability scanning, particularly for PaaS environments. Currently, Qualys does not have full access to these instances, which limits its effectiveness."
"The main area needing improvement is integration. Although the team is strengthening TotalCloud, integration can be enhanced with SIEM, SOAR, ITSM, and other sources."
"Although TotalCloud is a helpful tool, some of its advanced features are still under development."
"The onboarding process is a bit difficult. In the initial phase, it is very difficult to understand the features, what the dashboard contains, and what criteria they are using."
"One of the things that could be improved is the alerts. Qualys is a fantastic tool, especially with the TruRisk feature, but one challenge that most leaders face involves alert fatigue."
"The support is not up to the mark and seems to be overburdened."
"The only area that really needs improvement is the reporting functionality. Gathering the detailed information that is in the system for an executive, or for me as a director, could be better. Some of the interface and reporting aspects are a little bit dated. They're working on it."
"From a company standpoint, a little more interaction with the customers throughout the year might be beneficial. I would like check-ins from the Morphisec account executives about any type of Morphisec news as well as a bit more interaction with customers throughout the year to know if anything new is coming out with Morphisec, e.g., what they are working on in regards to their development roadmap. We tend not to get that up until the time that we go for a yearly renewal. So, we end up talking to people from Morphisec once a year, but it is usually at renewal time."
"Morphisec is a venture startup. They are still early in their growth stage. They need to get mature on their customer support and on how they interface with system tools."
"We have only had four attacks in the last year, "attacks" being some benign PDF from a vendor that, for some reason, were triggered. There were no actual attacks. They were just four false positives, or something lowly like adware. There have been false positives with both the on-premises solution and the cloud solution."
"The dashboard is the area that requires the most improvement. We have about, I would say 5,500 computers currently, and searching through all of those takes some time to filter. So as soon as you apply the filter, it takes a few seconds. It crunches, it thinks, and then it brings up the clients that match."
"We wanted to have multi-tenants in their cloud platform, so every entity can look into their own systems and not see other systems in other entities. I have a beta version on that now. I would like them to incorporate that in the cloud solution."
"Those are some of the features that I was looking for on my on-prem platform that they've already instituted in the cloud and that I'm sure will be instituting on their on-prem platform as well. Having to have an on-prem server required a lot of administration. Being able to push that to the cloud and have it managed up there for us is a real nice addition."
"The weakest point of this product is how difficult it is to understand the reasons for an alert. This is a problem because it is hard to determine whether an attack is real or not."
"What keeps it from being a ten is that I would like to see more integrations, deeper remediation guidance, and more customization options for risk prioritization."
"VulnCheck could be improved by making the interface even more intuitive and adding more customization around how information is displayed and reviewed; more detailed reporting and clearer explanations when a verification result needs attention would also be helpful, and these improvements would make the workflow quicker, especially for users who are new to the platform."
"VulnCheck needs improvement in terms of data."
"VulnCheck's UI and reporting can be improved for better visibility."
"Regarding VulnCheck's AI capabilities, I find that it currently lacks AI-driven capabilities."
"VulnCheck is a really good tool, but it could be improved with a more user-friendly dashboard and also with more detailed vulnerability context."
"I chose a rating of nine for VulnCheck because some parts, such as the implementation aspect and the patch remediation trackers, are lacking."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"As a middle management member, I do not have direct pricing knowledge, but based on the knowledge from our meetings, its pricing is competitive."
"Although Qualys TotalCloud is relatively expensive due to its unique automation features, its cost-effectiveness is rated an eight out of ten, with ten being the most costly."
"Qualys TotalCloud is cost-efficient and was selected for its value compared to other products."
"It isn't cheap, but it's reasonable. It helps us to manage things with very few resources."
"Qualys TotalCloud offers good pricing that is affordable and competitive with the market. Our partnership also provides us with additional benefits."
"While Qualys TotalCloud's pricing is currently acceptable, it is becoming increasingly expensive and may soon be considered overpriced."
"The cost is high, but it meets our organizational needs."
"I am not sure about the pricing. From what I understand, it is a bit on the higher side, but I do not have the exact numbers."
"Price-wise, it's on the higher side. A traditional antivirus solution is cheaper, but in terms of security and manageability, its ROI is better than a traditional antivirus. I would recommend it to anybody evaluating or considering an antivirus solution. If your system gets compromised, the cost of ransom would be a lot more. This way, it saves a lot of cost."
"Morphisec is reasonably priced because our parent company's other subsidiaries use different products like CrowdStrike. CrowdStrike is four or five times more expensive than Morphisec. The competitive pricing saves us money in our overall security stack."
"Licenses are per endpoint, and that's true for the cloud version as well. The only difference is that there is a little extra charge for the cloud version."
"It is priced correctly for what it does. They end up doing a good deal of discounting, but I think it is priced appropriately."
"Compared to their competitors, the price of Morphisec is not that high. You can easily deploy it on a large-scale or small-scale network."
"It is an annual subscription basis per device. For the devices that we have in scope right now, it is about $25,000 a year."
"The pricing is definitely fair for what it does."
"It does not have multi-tenants. If South Africa wants to show only the machines that they have, they need their own cloud incidence. It is not possible to have that in a single cloud incidence with multiple tenants in it, instead you need to have multiple cloud incidences. Then, if you have that, it will be more expensive. However, they are going to change that, which is good."
