Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The dashboard features and functionalities that come through the MicroStrategy Suite are the most valuable. It can be used by end users with minimum knowledge of the product. They can run a report or create a dashboard on their phones, which is kind of cool.""The solution is ideal for enterprise-level companies or corporations.""MicroStrategy has what they call the Semantic Graph — an enterprise-grade semantic graph — and I think the technology is fantastic.""It is scalable and integration-friendly.""It is very stable.""The interactive features that appear in the report were good. The external rendering option they give with multi servers was also good.""This solution is the most scalable BI platform in the world.""It's user-friendly, also the MTDI cube is a very good approach, as it helps you to use the pre-format instead of using the standard objects from the schema of MicroStrategy."

"The features that I have found most valuable with SAP ERP products are their good user interface, stability, functionality, and good interface options.""The solution is stable.""The ability to collaborate and plan together is great.""Technical support is helpful.""It's many features make it the best in the market.""SAP Analytics Cloud is a very good tool. The feature that's most useful for me is the reporting as it can be done via Google Chrome. The solution is also very nice, user-friendly, and easy to build. It's very easy to use the features of SAP Analytics Cloud.""It's so user-friendly.""There is a really nice insight feature that I enjoy using."

Cons
"We've found the scalability to be very good. However, it depends on the environment. In general, it could be much better.""I would like to see the enterprise version available in a demo or as a trial version.""The solution's reports are not very flexible.""They should give proper industry-based tutorials so that one can learn it easily and implement it based on the requirements. They should give more MMP files so that we can import a whole project altogether and learn from that project.""In the developer, there are things that you able to do in a document or a report that you are not able to do in the Dossier.""They should provide more tutorials and include some project files.""It crashes multiple times for even small changes that I make on the fly in the dashboard. After doing all the necessary changes, the MicroStrategy desktop or even the web version kicks the users out, and all the changes are lost. This functionality is buggy in MicroStrategy. It is hard to keep track of all the changes that I have done before. I don't want to make copies of each change that I have made because I would end up creating a hundred dashboards. It is not feasible in a real environment. I haven't worked on integrating MicroStrategy with the cloud. I am not sure how it behaves in the cloud, but I have heard from a few of my friends that there are some hiccups when you kind of sync to the cloud through MicroStrategy.""The learning curve is quite steep."

More MicroStrategy Cons →

"They need a better scalability rate.""SAP Analytics Cloud requires a lot of coding and I would like the coding to be somewhat minimal.""The scope is limited to a few accounts.""SAC, which is the cloud version, lost some good features from the previous planning product, like BPC or BPS.""Could have more tabular reporting capabilities.""I would also like to have more advanced features for predictive analytics.""SAP could add some more visualization features to Analytics Cloud, like charts and analytics. I would also like to see some more data cleaning and ad hoc functions added to this solution.""The solution should include other scripting languages as well, such as Python."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We have a license with packages, and there are additional costs for extra components."
  • "We have one of the best pricing available, but we can't disclose that information."
  • "The pricing is fair."
  • "They can improve its licensing. It is a bit expensive as compared to Microsoft and other tools."
  • "They offer yearly as well as perpetual licenses."
  • "It is expensive. We would like to extend it to many users, but we are currently restricting that because the cost is a constraint. If we are given a chance, we would love to expand it."
  • "All BI software vendors' list prices are high. It's about a price that fits the customer's needs. And I think MicroStrategy has some flexibility in its pricing model where we can easily demonstrate a total cost of ownership comparison against any of the other players."
  • "There is no subscription, I am using the free version."
  • More MicroStrategy Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "It is not the most expensive one. You have to do the cost-of-ownership analysis and take a lot of things into consideration to come up with the conclusion that it is cheaper or not, but its price is reasonable. It provides value for money."
  • "It's quite expensive and costs a lot to maintain, especially with licensing."
  • "It's not that costly as such for the time being."
  • "Its licensing is on a monthly basis."
  • "Compute and storage features should be sold separately."
