Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

The tool provides excellent sandboxing and email security features, but the backup and recovery features are not good
If my primary solution is down, no backup solution is available to restore it. It is one of the biggest weaknesses of the platform. If I need to update the solution, there is no option to pick the events and the logs from it and deploy it in another solution. The backup and recovery features of the product are not good. I need backup. If the tool is down for some time, I cannot get the logs at that particular time.

Red Canary detects threats and attack patterns, allowing us to assess any significant damage caused to the banking environment, particularly if protected data has been damaged or corrupted. It is valuable for security teams in banking industries that need to make informed decisions quickly. Red Canary solutions are useful for compliance with standards like FFIEC and PCI and are employed in medical operations for HIPAA compliance.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Cortex XDR is stable, offering high quality and reliable performance."
"Cortex XDR lets us manage several clients from the same console, and its endpoint defense is more advanced than traditional antivirus."
"Threat identification and detection are the most valuable features of this solution."
"Implementing Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks has had a significant impact on my security analyst workload because it becomes much easier."
"The ability to kind of stitch everything together and see the actual complete picture is very useful. I guess you'd call it a playbook. Some people call it the forensics analysis of what was happening on particular endpoints when they detected some malicious behavior, and what transpired before that to cause that. It is also very user friendly. The way they have done everything and integrated all the solutions that they've purchased over the years to make it a very seamless, effective product is very good. One thing about Palo Alto is that they take the products or services that they purchase and make them seamless for the end user as compared to some companies that purchase other companies and then just kind of have their products off to the side or keep different interfaces. Palo Alto doesn't do that."
"It's very stable. I've never experienced downtime for the ASM console or ASM core."
"The most valuable feature of Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is the low consumption of system resources. The solution uses a lot of AI and machine learning."
"It has pretty much everything we need and works well within the Palo Alto ecosystem."
"I feel the anti-ransomware update is one of the tool's valuable features."
"The most valuable use is detailing metadata collection from the endpoint and network."
"The email security feature is really good."
"Kaspersky Anti-Targeted Attack Platform is stable and runs all the time."
"The product's deployment phase is easy."
"The solution is very easy to use. Its interface is very simple, and you can build IOC's indicators. You can use your rules to detect these attacks because you can leverage threat intelligence. Y"
"The solution works well for what we use it for and the support and protection are good."
"The near real-time review translates into near real-time action. So, in addition to alerting, Red Canary MDR has response playbooks built out."
"I recommended Red Canary to my friends who work in other organizations."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its automation part."
"The valuable features of this solution are it integrates well with different EDR software, such CrowdStrike, and Carbon Black, and the information it provides is helpful."

Cons

"I have seen lagging with Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks. There was one time when we faced a threat actor trying to gain access to our system. When our team utilized the tool, we were all on the same dashboard and we faced a lag issue at that time of around five minutes, which was quite significant."
"Managing the product should be easier."
"The solution needs better reports. I think they should let the customer go in and customize the reports."
"Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth."
"Traps doesn't work with McAfee. You need to remove McAfee to install Traps. This is very common, and its nothing that should be an issue. Some antivirus engines recognize Traps as an threat component, so maybe they need to shake hands somewhere."
"We had a problem with getting our older endpoints up to date, but their newest updates have been really good. I've been pleased with it in terms of what our needs are. It's doing what we want it to do."
"Additionally, I think the price is very high, and if it can be adjusted, I believe it will be a very good solution."
"If he is using a smaller company, he can depend on some other tools because Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is a bit expensive."
"I think the tool is still not really good enough for integration compared to other products."
"The solution lacks cloud integrations."
"In some of the places I have come across, even though they use Kaspersky, the ransomware enters their system."
"The blind spot or gap in the platform is network analysis functionality."
"Kaspersky Anti-Targeted Attack Platform is not a good product. We had problems with endpoints and the solution did not detect it. We didn't get any alerts about the attack."
"The backup and recovery features of the product are not good."
"Red Canary's pricing spectrum may not be ideal for smaller financial institutions."
"I would like there to be an on-premise version of this solution for our data centers because of the proliferation of online threats."
"The price could always be better."
"The most valuable feature of Red Canary MDR is the overall threat protection it provides."
"In general, the solution currently fails to provide a summary to its users."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is quite an expensive solution."
"The tool's price is moderate."
"When we first bought it, it was a bit expensive, but it was worth it. The licensing was straightforward."
"Compared to CrowdStrike, Cortex XDR is an expensive solution."
"I feel it is fairly priced."
"Our license will require renewal in August, after which the maintenance will continue as usual."
"This is an expensive solution."
"I don't like that they have different types of licenses."
"Kaspersky Anti-Targeted Attack Platform is cheap."
"The solution has competitive pricing."
"Kaspersky is one of the cheaper solutions."
"I have not compared Red Canary to other solutions to know if the price is high or low. However, I have found the price of this solution fair and reasonable, it cost approximately $100 per year, per device. If they could provide the solution for $50 per year, per device, it would be better."
"Red Canary MDR I use is an open-source tool."
"The solution could vary in price depending on how many endpoints a company has."
