Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I would recommend that others considering the solution go ahead and use it for any batch and high volume loads with complex transactions.""The technical support for Informatica PowerCenter is good.""It is UI friendly and has all the advantages of an ETL tool.""If the systems get migrated or upgraded, the amount of resources required are very minimal. We can change the connections and establish a new connection. It's very helpful.""One of the most valuable features for us is the metadata repository because it can easily understand the lineage of first target mapping. My company and I also find Informatica really easy to use—when a consultant joins our company, in just a few days to a few weeks, they can understand how to use it—so we prefer to use this ETL tool.""The technical support is excellent.""I like the automated scheduling feature.""It's very easy to use it to develop mappings and workflows."

"The most valuable features are real-time data, introspective data, and input data. The interface is also very easy to use."

Cons
"It should be more cloud-centric than on-prem-centric.""Requires an established data center because there is no option for software as a service.""Its interface can be modernized. It is an old product. I have been working with it for 14 years, and it still looks the same. It hasn't been modernized much. It also needs to handle more modern formats, such as JSON files. It works with the old text files and databases, but it does not always work with the newer, modern stuff. You need to make your own programs to support that kind of stuff. Support is also a kind of difficult with Informatica. They don't do direct support and rely on using their distributors around the globe for support, which means that you kind of have to go through this layer of different companies before you get help.""We need another tool for monitoring. It would be easier if all the features were consolidated into one tool.""The UI is a little outdated.""The performance of Informatica PowerCenter could improve.""An issue which should be addressed is that the solution only allows us to do structured, as opposed to unstructured, data processing.""This solution needs the functionality to do batch processing of data. It also lacks connectivity to NoSQL, unstructured data sources."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It's much more expensive, almost three times more expensive than most other solutions."
  • "We are satisfied with the pricing."
  • "I consider this to be an expensive product."
  • "It is for big enterprises. We have leveraged Informatica for big enterprises but not for small and medium enterprises because it is a very costly product as compared to other products. We propose this solution only for enterprise customers. For small to medium enterprises, we would propose the Microsoft solution. Its licensing is currently bundle-wise. It should be features-wise and not bundle-wise."
  • "The price of this solution is high."
  • "Our client has purchased the license, and we are using it."
  • "The solution is in the middle price range compared to other solutions."
  • "Licensing costs are excessive and pose an obstacle to someone who lacks familiarity with the solution and wishes to have a proper understanding of it."
