Handles large data volumes effectively and offers competitive pricing
There is a lot of improvement required, as we still face some cache issues most of the time, which is a challenge that we expect to see resolved in the future. Additionally, there is some limitation when we are working with a tool, especially regarding In and Out parameters, and I feel that this aspect should be improved going ahead. We face issues with the API side, as Cloud Application Integration cannot handle large volumes; according to the API page, there is a limitation of 500 records or 500 MB. The AI integrated into the Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services solution is called Application Integration, where we still face challenges when dealing with huge volumes, as previously explained.

Fast calculations, stable, and good support, but needs more visuals, support for HTML5, and BI Publisher updates
It is very cumbersome and slow for making any changes. It doesn't have that many visuals to show different graphs and charts. It should have more visuals. It also doesn't support HTML5, which is useful for interactive sessions and reporting with dashboard etc. We are phasing it out because we need a newer platform that provides us more flexibility and more designs. Our use case is just to get the utility type of monthly reports, and we need visuals, customizations, columns, and certain sections on the report to show performance and other things. They are not updating their BI Publisher product, which was known as XML Publisher before Oracle bought it. It could be because they don't have that many clients using it. We are using it because we have this solution for years.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The tool manually checks on applying business rules and helps to implement them."
"The out-of-the-box features and standard profiling options provide quick visibility of the data within minutes, which facilitates discussions with the business."
"I definitely would recommend the Informatica solution to other people."
"We have a lot of integrations, and it's very easy to create integrations. They have a lot of connectors."
"The most beneficial feature of Informatica Cloud Data Quality is it's cloud-based."
"I give the stability a ten out of ten."
"The product improves data quality."
"The serverless capability and the packaging application of the solution are valuable."
"The most valuable features are the reporting and the graphics."
"It has a very robust dashboard and ad-hoc reporting."
"It's web-based so that I can have multiple users accessing the same data. It provides ease of use and its formatting means we can use the data, export it to Excel, and we manipulate the data afterward if we need to."
"Calculations are a little bit faster. It can do the on-the-run calculations much better than other reporting platforms. You don't need any other specific tool. You can use Microsoft Office to start doing things with these reports."

Cons

"User/group administration could use improvement."
"Metadata querying is right now not there in Informatica Cloud Data Integration."
"If I compare it with other MDM solutions in the market, one thing that can definitely be improved is automation to help with the configuration. Currently, when we are creating any staging of base object tables, all the columns have to be configured manually in the Informatica Hub Console. A lot of tables and different kinds of business columns have to be configured manually. There should be an automated process for this, especially in the Dev environment. When people are creating tables and columns from scratch, if there is a backend automated process for that, it would be really helpful. In Stibo, a similar feature is there wherein you can tag attributes to certain objects. It would be helpful if Informatica also provides a similar option. It would reduce the manual effort. It could be that such a feature is already there, but I am not aware of it."
"You cannot import the data discovery rules you create in the solution to the Cloud Data Governance and Catalog (CDGC)."
"There may be some types of limitations with the performance."
"There is room for improvement in the support. The response time could be faster."
"Considering internal data from legacy systems, it is quite difficult to know if Informatica Data Quality meets that high level of accuracy criteria."
"Informatica Axon does not provide complete transparency about the level of detailing you need and the logic used in ETL."
"It is very cumbersome and slow for making any changes. It doesn't have that many visuals to show different graphs and charts. It should have more visuals. We are using it because we have this solution for years."
"The initial setup was difficult because not all the information was included in the implementation model."
"The initial setup was complex and it took a lot of time to set up the infrastructure."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The platform has a premium cost. I rate the pricing as seven out of ten."
"Its pricing model can be improved."
"The product is not very pocket-friendly for small and medium-sized businesses, and it is understandable because of the kind of features the tool gives."
"It is expensive. That's probably the biggest drawback. The business has heartache paying the license, but that's mainly because they don't realize what value it brings. The key thing about the MDM solution is that it is in the backend, and no one sees what it is actually doing. You don't know it is a problem until it is not there."
"Informatica MDM's pricetag should come down. They have to cut some costs."
"The solution is very expensive."
"The price is very high and has become a big concern for our customers who require the solution in order for their business to function smoothly."
"The product is very expensive"
"As with any case study that we’ve ever done, it’s not so much a problem with the application or security or anything of that nature. It’s basically the cost infrastructure. Compared to other solutions, it’s one of the more costly solutions out there. It’s the biggest concern nowadays that upper management has."
"It is expensive. It is more than 100K for support. You pay for support on top of the standard licensing, which is on a yearly basis."
