Reliable installation and diverse use cases provide strong value
IBM Security QRadar has some areas for improvement. We have missed some DSM components. We need to customize logs where there is no DSM or connector for certain products. We can integrate but we have missed the DSM, which is the connector to pass logs coming from different applications. For example, with a university customer, we tried onboarding Canvas service. IBM Security QRadar does not support Canvas, so we had to create custom scripts and workarounds to pull logs from Canvas.

Can be used to monitor a specific log or do specific actions, but its initial setup is not so easy
I have some customers using SolarWinds Log Analyzer to put some conditions on monitoring information from Windows servers and Linux servers. They use SolarWinds Log Analyzer to see if these conditions appear, and if they appear, generate a notification so that they can investigate what happened…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The flexibility is good in terms of pulling log files."
"The simplicity of the solution is the best feature."
"There is a single dashboard that gives us a complete overview of what is happening around the globe."
"QRadar shows very effective correlations. If you combine all the logins plus user behavior and the current intelligence, it gives a very good correlation for business. I think it reduces the false positives in user activity monitoring because there is a lot of social information to correlate with other data."
"IBM Security QRadar has significantly improved our incident response procedures."
"I have used IBM QRadar User Behavior Analytics in a Cloud Pak on Amazon, and there it runs on top of it and is easy to assess. Additionally, I have installed processes and characters."
"I like that it's easy to use and the performance is good."
"Customer service is very good and very helpful."
"SolarWinds Log Analyzer works for specific conditions, like when someone needs to monitor a specific log or do specific actions."

Cons

"Communication between the silos sometimes becomes an issue, making it an area where improvements are required."
"It would be better if it were more stable and more secure. The price for maintenance could be better. It's too high. In the next release, I think they should focus on the price and the operation."
"AI is superb but need improvements."
"IBM Security QRadar’s GUI could be improved."
"Technical support could be improved by a bit."
"The product is good, but one feature they should have is an Elasticsearch. Currently, in QRadar, there are no Elasticsearch criteria."
"They should speed up the incident response and also, at the same time, reduce the amount of manual effort that is required."
"IMB should reduce the pricing, or reduce some of the features for a more economical solution for the customer."
"SolarWinds Log Analyzer should deliver more integrated products so you can manage the console and easily configure the solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a license to use this solution, which is paid annually. However, there are subscription options available."
"QRadar's price is reasonable compared to LogRhythm."
"IBM Security QRadar is a very expensive tool."
"The pricing is good."
"They can give us some scalability and flexibility on pricing. If its pricing can be reduced, it would help a lot of customers in bringing in a new SIEM environment and grow business in the market. If I start a license today and take around 10,000 EPS, and after a month, there is an increase in the number of clients on my platform, I can increase the number of licenses. I can add 5,000 EPS on a yearly basis."
"In terms of additional costs, it depends on the subscription that you choose. There are plenty of options to choose from."
"It is cheaper than ArcSight."
"QRadar is quite expensive. It wouldn't be worth it for a small business..."
"SolarWinds Log Analyzer is a cheap product."
