Identifies and eliminates overprovisioning of expensive resources like storage, highly scalable and offers performance
I like the overall product because I can select what monitoring should be enabled and whatnot. In our case, we really focus on performance because it's clear that the price is related to most performance setups. So the more performance, the more expensive. So we look into the performance that the customer needs, and then based upon that feedback from the remote control, we change the parameters. And even the end user will not notice it is not using it, so we just make money without any impact on the end users.

Gained clearer financial governance and have improved cloud cost visibility and forecasting
I do not feel that anything needs to be changed. Umbrella is solving the purpose and is on point. The UI is intuitive and user-friendly. The learning curve is very easy. The features provided are on point. There is no downtime or challenges, and it is easy to learn and easy to use. In total, I do not feel that improvement is needed as per our organizational use case. Maybe for other organizations, they might have some suggestions, but for our organization specifically, I do not feel that they are lacking somewhere. It is already providing us the best thing. Almost everything is working as we expect. Small things we do not always point out. I feel that it works well and we do not have such problems with them specifically.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It offers a detailed examination of your cluster, including the types of instances utilized, allocated CPU and RAM, and resource distribution for specific applications."
"The price is reasonable, considering the value it delivers."
"I mostly like the dashboards."
"Umbrella has positively impacted my organization by ensuring that if anyone wants to access any of the URLs, the URL will be blocked, and if they want to access that particular URL, it needs to be whitelisted."
"Umbrella has positively impacted my organization by allowing our IT team to know that our users and our remote locations are having safe traffic and lowering the risk of malicious active actions and people going to the wrong websites, giving us ease of mind."
"Anyone who is looking for a dedicated FinOps and AI anomaly detection and forecasting platform, which is good with transparent and clear costs and is also cheap compared to other solutions, can definitely give Umbrella a try."
"Umbrella positively impacts my organization by protecting us from cybersecurity threats and malware."
"Umbrella has positively impacted my organization because previously, we were not having any visibility on what was coming in and what was going out, and currently, with the help of Umbrella, we are able to restrict what can go out and what can come inside, which is really helpful for each and every organization, not only for us."
"Umbrella has positively impacted our organization by blocking some of the traffic, including some of the domains that were usually being generated."
"My advice is to go ahead with Umbrella; it is a very nice product with good customer support plus a return on investment, as you are investing $1 and you are getting a value of $10."
"The best feature that I have found useful in Umbrella is blocking website access to users, which significantly reduces our cybersecurity incidents, prevents computers from being attacked by malware, and stops users from accessing unproductive applications such as Netflix on their work laptops."

Cons

"Faster monitoring could potentially improve overall stability in the production environment."
"There is a significant potential for enhancing it through the incorporation of advanced technologies like AI and generative AI."
"The integration with other solutions could be improved."
"Some aspects that my team often wishes were better include reporting depth, policy granularity, false positive whitelisting, integration with other tools, and cost considerations."
"To improve the Umbrella experience, a dashboard or daily statistics along with visual widgets would be useful if they were added."
"One problem is that it sometimes blocks valid URLs."
"Umbrella can be improved by adding DHCP services to be a full DDI solution, as most customers today are looking for a full DDI solution."
"I want to highlight one concern: Umbrella can be bypassed by using the Play Store and other applications, which is something your team could look into, as users are bypassing the filter and accessing the websites."
"Umbrella has a tier-restricted feature in the base package that lacks advanced features such as URL-level filtering or inspection and requires more expensive subscriptions."
"Umbrella can be improved with easier migration and easier deployment, as we had to get some really specialized users in to deploy the software."
"Occasionally, Umbrella blocks main business websites, requiring recurring manual review and whitelisting."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost of the tool may seem nominal compared to the potential savings in infrastructure expenses."
"The cost is cheap. Kubecost has an open-source core."
"The real savings come from using Kubecost features like autoscaling and serverless functions to optimize your resource usage. If you treat it like a data center migration without fine-tuning, it might cost more."
