Automation platforms streamline processes and offer flexibility, but AI integration and version upgrades pose challenges
In the technology world, there is always room for improvement. Technologies evolve day by day, especially with the emergence of artificial intelligence and generative AI models. Although IBM BPM is a substantial product, adopting and integrating new technologies quickly is not easy due to the migration and upgrade paths involved. Every time new versions are released, we face business and production challenges that make rapid adoption challenging. The main concern bothering me today regarding IBM BPM is the integration of AI components.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Compliance with the BPMN 2.0 standard."
"The most valuable features come in the bundle, the design process, creating services, creating BPDs, creating coaches, and UI/UX."
"It helps improve your process through continual measurement."
"It introduces process orchestration with adherence and process optimization into the organization."
"Enabled us to convert most of the paper-based work into an automated workflow process, and some of them were converted into straight-through processing, with no human interaction involved whatsoever."
"The reach with Integration Adapters and support for adding custom Java code are valuable features."
"We are implementing the tool to triple our monthly transaction volume."
"I would recommend this solution, it's a pretty stable, good environment and platform for business process management."
"The most valuable feature of SoftExpert BPM is its ease of use."
"We promote the use of this product because it's integrated and has a very nicely designed program, simplifying our workflow and the workflow of our clients, which saves time and money for everyone while making us more productive."
"A complete project management suite in one integrated package."

Cons

"The business side says it needs more visibility into the process."
"The front end is not customised for a good user experience."
"I have an interest around the robotic piece, and integrating that with the processes. I think that is certainly a good direction to be going."
"Needs better reporting. I do not think that we are fully taking advantage of what it already has yet."
"It is a rather thick stack because you have to have WebSphere skills, IBM BPM skills, and an understanding of how the product runs on WebSphere. A lot of this will start to get a lot easier as they put it in containers, which will allow the platform to manage itself in some regards."
"I think the best way it can be improved is to make it easier to install. It's a very complicated piece of software, and there are a lot of things you have to do to get it set up."
"I'm not sure if we've seen ROI as a result of implementing BPM."
"Our developers are complaining that it's too complex to maintain."
"The form in SoftExpert BPM should improve."
"It could do more to use all the data it collects to intelligently manage the user experience."
"I would like for them to incorporate artificial intelligence and be more intuitive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Price wise, IBM BPM is cheaper than other similar solutions and has excellent pricing."
"Starting out with Express can also help reduce the cost for adopting the product."
"It should provide more flexibility to connect with external systems, and there should be in-built services that can be used to integrate with other systems quickly."
"Its price is on the higher side, and it can be improved. Its licensing is on a yearly basis. There are no additional costs."
"The solution might be expensive, but I can't give you a precise number. In the market here, I've seen two main products for BPM: IBM BPM and Camunda. Camunda is very popular and open-source, so there's no direct comparison."
"The cloud and license of the subscription model for IBM BPM can be complex. There are a lot of alternatives to choose from."
"I think it's a reasonably priced tool, but it's important to consider which customers should buy this solution. It's designed for enterprise customers, not small ones."
"I rate the solution's pricing a four out of ten."
"The price of SoftExpert BPM is not expensive."
