Automation platforms streamline processes and offer flexibility, but AI integration and version upgrades pose challenges
In the technology world, there is always room for improvement. Technologies evolve day by day, especially with the emergence of artificial intelligence and generative AI models. Although IBM BPM is a substantial product, adopting and integrating new technologies quickly is not easy due to the migration and upgrade paths involved. Every time new versions are released, we face business and production challenges that make rapid adoption challenging. The main concern bothering me today regarding IBM BPM is the integration of AI components.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The product causes all the processes in the company to be centralized."
"In terms of ROI through scaling, one of the processes we automatated with BPM is running smoothly with fewer people than before, and in fact the size of the demand has scaled, very notably."
"IBM's APIs are very good; we use them often, and I really like the API."
"Our clients were previously using Excel sheets for processes, and it has changed their whole life as now the processes are all automated."
"In terms of ROI and scaling use of the product, my feeling is yes, they do see return on investment."
"It is transparent to business users because it is mostly picture based modelling."
"Using it, I have created elegant, user-friendly, and performant end-user graphical interfaces that allow end users to complete their tasks in the most enjoyable and easy way."
"This solution has streamlined our operation and improved the TAT of sales, operations, and underwriters."
"The most valuable feature of SoftExpert BPM is its ease of use."
"A complete project management suite in one integrated package."
"We promote the use of this product because it's integrated and has a very nicely designed program, simplifying our workflow and the workflow of our clients, which saves time and money for everyone while making us more productive."

Cons

"Initial setup is very complex. Too many steps need to be done at the database and server levels, and complex configurations. From what I see, a lot of these steps can be and should be automated."
"It is not user-friendly and requires a knowledgeable and skilled user to work with it."
"Performance on large scale requirements could also be improved."
"It was complex for some of us (IT but non technical profiles)."
"Though I am quite satisfied with the product, and especially the introduction of responsive UI, I still believe that the overall development environment must be desktop based rather web based."
"The interface is limited and should improve in the future."
"The new web-based IDE has plenty of room for improvement."
"I believe that if the license were cheaper, it would have a greater impact."
"It could do more to use all the data it collects to intelligently manage the user experience."
"I would like for them to incorporate artificial intelligence and be more intuitive."
"The form in SoftExpert BPM should improve."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is very high."
"Licensing is managed by the client, but we know it is yearly. Camunda is relatively cheaper. There is not much difference in pricing of IBM and PEGA. For large licensing, there are discounts as well."
"Starting out with Express can also help reduce the cost for adopting the product."
"The price of the solution is fair for an enterprise solution that has both cloud and on-premise deployments and when comparing to competitors. Recently IBM has introduced Cloud Pak which allows for more flexible licensing options for automation and other features."
"I already compared some solutions related to business process management, and I saw that the cost of IBM BPM is more expensive compared with that of Camunda, for example."
"The pricing is quite high, I would rate it two out of five."
"I think it's a reasonably priced tool, but it's important to consider which customers should buy this solution. It's designed for enterprise customers, not small ones."
"I rate the tool's pricing a seven out of ten."
"The price of SoftExpert BPM is not expensive."
