Business Intelligence, reporting, data integration, ETL, data migration - everything is handled within one unified platform and highly scalable solution.
WebFOCUS goes beyond just dashboards. It's also used for operational reporting, making it crucial for mission-critical systems. In fact, a core strength is that it's not "just" a BI tool; it can be used to build complete applications. It is the best tool because of its all-in-one nature. Data integration, ETL, data migration, everything is handled within the same platform. Then, on the front end, it offers portals, reporting, distributed analysis, and more. For customers who have data in the right structure and right format, the WebFOCUS Designer tool is very powerful. It allows them to create self-service reporting applications.

Have found limited automation capabilities while configuration has remained complex despite reliable monitoring features
In terms of configuration, Red Hat Insights could use some improvement. When I deploy Red Hat, the installation means a pure vanilla installation where you run and install a product out of the box, but deployment involves configuration plus all necessary tooling to run that product, which requires human input to complete the installation, configurations, and integration. Red Hat Insights has very limited automation; it only detects anomalies and triggers corrective actions for compliance issues, something which I found lacking when compared to other tools I've used.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We are getting good support from my end of the picture."
"Overall it is a user-friendly and powerful solution."
"This is a great BI product and an excellent roadmap and vision."
"Even though Domo has now told us that they would offer their BI solution to us on-premise, we feel that the intuitive, user friendly aspects of IBI far surpass what Domo has to offer, and as such will be going with IBI as a result."
"The solution can read and write 500 different types of outputs."
"I would rate the scalability a ten out of ten. It's highly scalable and can handle significant data volumes."
"WebFOCUS helped SSA OHO manage our daily workload, get cases out quickly and help American people to get their disability claim processed on time."
"The most valuable feature is building ad hoc reports."
"The product is optimized for resource utilization."
"I have seen a return on investment, especially considering the time taken to resolve the problem where we bought some support from Red Hat."
"Overall, I think that this is a good product."
"The reliability is so good that I rarely find myself calling Red Hat support any longer."
"It identifies bugs and security vulnerabilities."
"RHEL is the most reliable Linux flavor in terms of enterprise governance. I prefer it for its code stability, support, and integration. The lifecycle management features help us maintain compliance and keep the components updated."
"The most valuable feature of Red Hat Insights that I have found is the proactive information on issues that you don't see but are possibly going to happen in the environment."
"Red Hat Enterprise Linux has made significant improvements in terms of storage. You can mount an 18 terabyte file system. It also supports NFS shares and the SIP share for the photos. There have been many features added since RHEL 6. It's more user-friendly and graphical."

Cons

"When it comes to customer support, we don't always reach the right person. Sometimes, we get junior-level reps who aren't as knowledgeable as we are."
"It's too complex to setup the security features."
"We found some minor flaws like password encryption."
"The interface can be more user-friendly, learning the product via a classroom format."
"The solution can be improved by adding more automated options for reporting."
"If there were to be any improvements right now, their documentation needs to get in sync with their product."
"For WebFOCUS 8, it has been very trying to get used to new version."
"It would be nice to have it easier to embed native SQL. Release process in our set up is not the safest since it requires changing paths."
"There is potential for improvement when it comes to ease of use. It has become easier to use over the years but could be better still. Linux, in general, has never been a simple solution. It's usually a more complex solution than something like Windows. If there is a downside, it's that it is more complex than some of the other solutions."
"A lot of improvement is required to get security compliance, especially with the privacy of the data, managing it, and storing it."
"AIX will be out of support in the next few years, so that is a problem because a lot of the clinical apps use AIX."
"All resources should be available on the website."
"The cockpit server doesn't work and is useless. I don't like the images shown in GCP. I prefer the ones in AWS. It seems like the solution is in tune with what we deploy on the private cloud."
"Red Hat Insights has very limited automation; it only detects anomalies and triggers corrective actions for compliance issues, something which I found lacking when compared to other tools I've used."
"I also want the co-pilot to provide more granular control and more features in the GUI, so we can have one configuration from the GUI itself. It would be helpful to have a feature similar to the one in Windows where we can manage all the net flows from one console in a single pane of glass and install it on-premises like an admin center. It would be great if Red Hat had some kind of admin center to manage all the RHEL boxes without using an additional product like Satellite or something, we could use the co-pilot on all the systems to monitor the dashboard."
"I would like to see improvements made to the subscriptions and management of them."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate the pricing a five out of ten, with ten being expensive."
"If you have a subscription to Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Insights is free."
"The prices are comparable, and good for what is being provided."
"Regarding the prices, the new changes are actually not bad as it works for enterprise solutions."
"RHEL is expensive. We have changed the cloud provider's subscription to a pay-as-you-go model."
"This is not a cheap solution but it gets you the support if you ever need it."
