Room for Improvement: HPE Ethernet Switches could improve their GUI and ease of configuration, address noisy fans, and enhance technical support. There is also a need for better stacking features and integration with other platforms. Juniper QFX Series Switches face challenges with their user interface and integration with certain architectures. Pricing is a concern, and improvements in ISSU and TSSQ features would be beneficial.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: Both HPE Ethernet Switches and Juniper QFX Series are deployed on-premises. HPE's customer service is mixed, with slow technical support but appreciated hardware warranty. Juniper's technical support is reliable, though on-site support can be challenging.
Pricing and ROI: HPE Ethernet Switches are cost-effective with favorable pricing and a good ROI due to their lifetime warranty, although yearly licenses can elevate costs. Juniper QFX Series Switches are viewed as expensive but less so than Cisco, with scalability and functionality offering value despite higher initial investments and additional licensing requirements.
Other brands might break after three or four years, but with Juniper, I can use it until now, around nine years, and it's still very usable and very stable.
The normal ROI customers work with is five years unless there is a major change in technology.
We attach SKUs that offer an advanced replacement of the hardware in the worst-case scenario.
Their customer service and support are quite good.
The technical support of Juniper is very helpful because if we have some big issues, we can raise P1 or P2 tickets, and the response from Juniper is very fast.
Sometimes parts are not available in stock, then you have to wait for replacement time.
HPE Ethernet Switches are highly scalable.
For any kind of environment, this scalability is extensive.
We had one incident where an electric overload occurred, and it still managed to stay operational.
HPE Ethernet Switches are very reliable and have high stability.
Juniper has better performance than any other networking product as far as performance is concerned in the router area.
Incorporating them into an existing infrastructure with competitor products is a challenging task which could be better streamlined.
The price should be reduced in comparison to Cisco, as sometimes we cannot use the HPE one at the core level, where generally public users are using Cisco.
My personal opinion is that if anyone wants to work with a Layer 3 fabric in a data center, they should choose Juniper because working with ACI and APIC is very complex in the Cisco part.
I would like to see other cheaper plans for the license on the QFX series.
The price of HPE Ethernet Switches is reasonable and less than other OEM brands.
Huawei would be even cheaper than Aruba.
We are a number one, tier-one partner of Juniper. Therefore, we normally get better discounts than with Cisco because we don't have the level one partnership with Cisco.
They are highly scalable and stable, which is vital for large enterprises that require reliable performance.
The security features of the HPE Ethernet Switches are good.
The best feature of Juniper QFX Series Switches is the virtual chassis feature because it's very stable in my experience.
They work with EVPN solutions, providing a Layer 3 fabric, which is a very good capability.
