Modern infrastructure has supported critical business services and delivers strong data protection
To be honest, I did not make any changes in Nimble, and the same applies to StoreOnce. The system is built and ready-made. It was already built before we received it, but overall, everything is clear and direct, and there is nothing complex, so I do not need to do a deep dive in the system to resolve or change anything. I do not use HPE Nimble Storage HPE Alletra dHCI intelligent automation. I do not use intelligent data services in managing my data infrastructure. I have not actually used additional functionality for Nimble Storage HPE Alletra dHCI right now, but I think this feature is very useful, especially AI. AI is involved in any software now, and I do not use it in my system, but I think it's very useful.

Sync to Central and edge protection mitigate my risk in our branch offices
The level of tech support depends on who you get. There are some techs that just read the script and ask you if you’ve rebooted, but once you get past that - or if you have a very technical issue - the support is great. They really know the product and get you up and running again ASAP.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is easier to manage compared to the other vendors."
"HPE Alletra dHCI was good because we could have the vVols, which we are using for our production server, with the snapshots."
"HPE Nimble Storage dHCI has the most valuable features for performance, resilience, and scalability."
"With regards to performance, configuration, and longevity it is upgradeable, which means it has a good TCO rate. These are valuable aspects to me."
"We have the ability to increase the storage without any additional costs."
"Nimble DHCI is really user friendly and not complex"
"Nimble Storage is a rich in-between solution that covers everything from computing to virtualization and storage."
"The product has cut down a lot of service tickets. Earlier, people complained about slowness."
"That is why Riverbed SteelFusion has delivered a masterclass technology that not only abstracted and virtualized the storage vendors’ unique logical storage structures, it has made it logically closer and seamless to the branch applications from a performance and experience perspective."
"Sync to Central and edge protection mitigate my risk in our branch offices. All services that need to be local to the user exist on local servers. Users run applications and access data locally while the data is constantly being synced to Central, and protected. If an edge device fails, we can recover quickly."

Cons

"HPE Nimble Storage dHCI currently is promoting only VMware as a hypervisor, whereas if they can look into other OSs, such as KVM or Red Hat, it would be an improvement."
"I would rate technical support from HPE as two out of ten."
"The product does not support file services."
"They could expand product support to Microsoft Hyper-V and Red Hat Linux platforms."
"HPE Nimble Storage dHCI's website does not open properly or work consistently."
"I know when I purchased it, it really wasn't ready for prime time as I had to go through at least five or six deployments before it actually stuck."
"In our current scenario, only HPE engineers can deploy. An engineer with general-purpose skills cannot deploy those systems."
"Their documentation needs to be simpler to read yet more detailed so it's easy to compare models and easier for clients to pick."
"Setting up disks for use is a multi-step process that could use some refinement. Setting up a core-to-core replication or DR strategy is also cumbersome."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate the licensing model a three out of ten, where one is extremely expensive, and ten is cheap."
"The solution’s pricing was very good."
"The product is costly."
"The prices are very high."
"The price of HPE Nimble Storage dHCI is expensive."
"I think it's priced right and it's extremely intelligent."
"HPE Nimble Storage dHCI is much cheaper than the competition and has value proposition. Customers can see an ROI in three months. There are no additional costs, and VMware licenses can be reutilized."
"The cost of the licensing is reasonable."
"Price is an issue – this is expensive stuff. My advice is to beat up Riverbed as much as possible on price. These things are expensive and there is room for negotiation."
