Consistent performance and seamless cloud integration enhance analytics capabilities while reducing management complexity
One point for improvement in Google Cloud Bigtable is that people have confusion in mapping. There are many similar products available, and Google has managed services for similar products as well. It would be easier if the journey of knowing when to use Google Cloud Bigtable versus other Cloud SQL and alternates such as Cloud Spanner is made clearer for users. Regarding additional functionality for Google Cloud Bigtable, I am uncertain if LLMs can be integrated or if Google Cloud Bigtable can act as a vector store for LLM-specific use cases where we are interacting or using generative AI capabilities.

While MongoDB is a good product, it is also an expensive product for support, and its scalability is acceptable, but the big problem with MongoDB is the cost. For security in MongoDB, we work with encrypted databases by default, but we have not contracted the security options in our contract because it is too expensive, so we only implement encrypted databases without the security pack, which is very expensive for us; in security, we are at the first steps, just using encrypted databases. I think additional features needed in MongoDB include perhaps vector databases, as I think they are not supported right now.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"Bigtable is faster than other competitors in the market. It helps us collate all the data, and the security features are great. The latency is low, and the computation speed is fantastic. Bigtable is also a managed service, so you don't have to worry about anything aside from analyzing the data ingested."
"If you have a lot of data, it's really scalable and it's competitive."
"This solution is much more scalable than more traditional databases - at least the ones we are aware of."
"The solution is very stable; we've never experienced bugs or glitches, we haven't had crashes, and it works well and as expected 100% of the time."
"The main benefit I receive from Google Cloud Bigtable is the managed service part."
"Stability-wise, it is a simple solution. I rate the solution's stability a ten out of ten."
"The most valuable feature is the backup and replication service."
"My advice for anybody who is considering MongoDB is that when we want to have flexibility in storing our data, I recommend using it."
"We are talking about a rapid activity and replication solution which serves our needs well."
"MongoDB is extremely developer-friendly because when you are starting, there is very little time needed upfront in terms of planning."
"MongoDB's dashboards offer more functionalities and allow you to create a dashboard with MongoDB database data."
"The initial setup was very straightforward, it was a pleasure to work with for everyone, and setting it up, getting up and running, pumping data into it, and actually looking and querying the data was super simple."
"MongoDB's approach to handling data in documents rather than traditional tables has been particularly beneficial."
"MongoDB is a solution that I can recommend because we have realized good benefits from it."
"Scalability seems good. I've never been even close to finding the limits. I've run a couple of notes of redundancy but I've never had any problems with scalability."

Cons

"The pricing of the solution needs to be improved."
"The cost of this product is too expensive."
"I've used Bigtable for about three or four years."
"When it comes to complex queries, a user can't get any help from a drop-down box and pick columns. It would be great if some improvements could be made in the aforementioned area concerning the solution."
"Improvement should be made as per customer recommended and requirements."
"The program is rather expensive - it depends on the size of your data."
"The lagging problem of the product I face is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"It would be nice if the pay-as-you-go license were a little cheaper."
"The improvements could be made to intelligence to detect disk storage and prevent MongoDB from crashing."
"It is important to note that MongoDB has limitations since it can only be used for specific use cases. For example, for master data, I would want to pick keys using an RDBMS, but for attachments, I would choose MongoDB."
"There is a need for improvement in MongoDB's customer support."
"They could provide more documentation and examples for adding pipeline stages."
"I rate the support from MongoDB a four out of five."
"I'd like to see an ID generator. It's very technical but I don't think it has one, so we have to go to great lengths to work around that."
"MongoDB should be more stable, and support should be more efficient."
"MongoDB has a "heavy" architecture, which limits the scalability options."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would like to see better pricing. It is not too expensive, but it isn't cheap either."
"We are using the Community Edition of MongoDB."
"There is an annual subscription for the use of this solution."
